  • We continue to replace bad components and getting ready for the next stage of the restoration process.
This little radio chassis is tight inside and does present a small challenge when trying to unsolder old components and such.

Hoping you get the LC103 back into service soon. Making a guess on when it went to screeching, it may be something with the discharge relay, or even possibly the fuse connection to the BNC output. I have a 102 that seems to have had a fuse connection that didn't make contact well when I first got it ( used) , it possibly had a small amount of corrosion that the unit didn't like, but manipulating it a few times seemed to get it to settle down. Will watch to see the repairs come out well on the RCA and the Sencore.

Had one bad relay, replaced all three, had 3 shorted MOSFETs Q11,12,13 and one bad op amp. Works like a champ now.

You don’t have to worry about which end is the foil side.

Well if the factory installed them that way and the reason is sound then I will replace them like I found them.
