Your cap must of been an replacement or a production line messup. My cap was not stamped in metal and values where higher then what's on cardboard tube. If have email i can send you the pictures of cap and my modification to make taking can off easier.

I did simular but cut ring off that pried up so can tack leads to can to hold together makes for quick reopen to replace caps in future just wick leads off side of can and can comes off

Good job yours was a challange mine was working on original parts when got it. Just replacing caps not the main can cap.

I found way to leave headphone jack on front cover feed the wires Overton instead of under speaker like they did, oh and neat trick clip leads close to terminal so not pulling on tabs. I learned that working on mine

Yes that's how I do it as well. You can put the new caps across the outside terminals as well if you don't know there value then just use a small trimmer cap to resonate then on what ever the If frequency is the remove the cap measure the value and place with fixed value caps. I've done this in the past and it works out well. Good luck with your restoration. 73. Paul.

What many don't know about Precision Apparatus and PACO is that they became part of B&K Precision. The old Precision RF generator, the E-200C, is the predecessor of the famous B&K E-200D, as well as several other pieces of famous test equipment. I found out a lot about B&K via a phone call to them when they quit manufacturing here in the states. I was thinking about buying them out, which was "three tractor-trailer loads full" of parts and dud equipment. I'm not sure who they finally sold it to, but it went for cheap. .

So silver Mica disease is when some of the ions from the silver migrate into the mica. Interesting.

I bought a 2022 Marshall 50 watt JVM amplifier for my guitar. And that's almost exactly the sound I was getting out of the amp when I turned it on after letting it sit for about a year. It took the engineer five weeks to figure out that it wasn't a tube or a resistor but a silver Micah capacitor that went bad. From what I've read those capacitors should last at least 10 years. Why the thing went out I don't know. In the 3 years that I had the amp it was hardly played. But now that the silver Mica capacitor has been replaced the amp sounds like brand new. The noise was so bad it sounded like 15 rabid raccoons fighting with a badger. 🙏😃🕊️❤️ That signal tracer looks like a good investment

Why can't the raccoons stop fighting. Whatever happened to the brotherly love amongst raccoons. What happens is, they start fighting and the whole damn amplifier falls apart. 🙏🕊️❤️

So, basically you're looking for leakage between the primary and secondary. I remember doing something like that when I worked for the DoD checking sonar cables with a Megger.

How do you determine the value to use of the schematic doesn’t tell you

I suspect the noise in my s38e may be caused by morethan bad mica but due to dirty power in the new, poorly sheiled wire. On the other hand, the volume is very poor.

The push by the US government to outlaw all incandescent light bulbs is a "trojan horse". 😒 They claim it's all about energy efficiency, a cleaner environment, and longer bulb lifespan..... But that is totally not why they're forcing these LED bulbs upon the American people. I believe their true intentions are more nefarious than people would like to believe. Not to mention they give me awful headaches..... 🤦‍♀️ And apparently I'm not alone in this. 🤷‍♀️

Some guy on fleebay in Florida is selling a nice clean remastered meter scale for your EV-10. Cost about $24 shipped. He says printed on quality paper but you would have to cut excess edges off to fit it on exactly. Steve

It wasn't worth the time?? That is a low-spec remote with poor audio and compression.

They made these in the early 1950s. The EV10A differes from the earlier EV10S as the schematics are completely different and yours could have came with an RF probe with had a 9002 miniature tube in it. Precision Apparatus Co made instruments with odd combinations of tester functions. Take the Precision Model 612 tube tester. Not only does it tests tubes, but it also tests "condensers" (caps) and dry cell batteries. Prayers for your wife's quick recovery....

I would never get a prying tool. My luck i would snap the 70 year old plastic of the transformer. Might as well just throw the radio into the wall.
