Omg an "are you smarter than a 5th grader" episode would be great!!!
Yeeees, I’d love that!

I reallllyyy hope we get this episode!!
Omg YES, when J&J did it that was one of my favourite podcast episodes!!

Cristine yelling out "chat!" is so sweet and funny
Im glad she enjoys streaming so much and this podcast
I really love this long form and interactive content that youre happier making!
Lol I was like WE'RE HERE!!!
Not cristine (and me) crying laughing about how ben was trying to convince her that humans and dinosaurs coexisted a thousand years ago help 🤣🤣
“The earth is old as fuck, I know.”
-Simply, 2022 😂
ben’s celebrity crush being jane goodall is honestly so on brand somehow
because she is the monkey lady and he is the banana man
Ben does love monkeys!
@@MrsMrMoney and bananas!!!
But she’s 80 omg. V cute in her prime
@@sadvegetableperson she’s absolutely beautiful at 80 as well! Martha Stewart is in her 80’s and still GORGEOUS!
I think what’s most disturbing about Beyn hypothetically still believing in the tooth fairy as an adult and Cristine putting money under his pillow is that he would have to still be hypothetically losing teeth 😳🤣
First thing I thought of, too. 🤣
I need some kind of tooth-fairy-from-nod that leaves me change every time I dream about losing a tooth. That happens .... all the time. 😅
@@shxttynails fun fact, that’s a classic anxiety disorder dream. I had them probably on a weekly basis or more until I was prescribed meds for my anxiety. They terrified me as well bc teeth freak me the fuck out. But they have disappeared since I started Lexapro 🙌🏻
My husband had extra teeth as a kid. Recently, at 36 a new tooth popped out. We have little kids so the tooth fairy did bring him money lol.
bwhahaha!
As a housekeeper, it’s totally normal and helpful for parents to encourage children to organize (put in place) their rooms so we may focus on the disinfecting, dusting, and floor parts :)
Yeah, I feel like when the term cleaning lady is used, people assume it's only cleaning by the means of picking things up and putting them in their respectful place, but a lot more actually takes place then just "cleaning" per se. And yeah, I would assume that people at least have the decency to tell their kids to at least tidy up their rooms first
Yes! I agree 😊 makes things so much easier
Yeah. I had an ex boyfriend who didn't understand that the more time the housekeeper had to spend putting clothes in the hamper and washing the dishes and organizing misc. items meant less time was spent actually cleaning the tub and the floors, etc. It was infuriating.
that's exactly why we have two different phrases in my native language! "rydde op" = to clear out, organize etc, and "gøre rent" = dusting, vacuuming etc :) no cleaning personnel would be expected to organize unless there's an agreement beforehand
don't be a stupid child like me otherwise the person who cleans will throw out your contact lenses cause they're wrapped in a tissue (cautionary tale) 😭
I laughed so hard I cried over the "Were there humans a thousand years ago?" lmao Cristine I adore you
A comfortable lie: "I'm not looking to date anyone right now"
Uncomfortable truth: "I don't want to date YOU."
I love that Ben saying ‘Cristine’s been putting money under my pillow for years’ implies that Ben has been losing teeth for years too 😭😭
No wonder he only eats hummus
that part got me too LOL
Ben trying to abolish the British monarchy not even 10 mins into the vid 😂 (for legal/internet reasons, this is a joke)
i’m 8 mins in and “kinda like the queen” just made me choke on my water LMAOOO 💀 ben is always so unapologetically honest (and right)
Lol same I let out the biggest ooOoOOOOH!
Laughed so hard when Ben made that comment. 😂😂😂
Just saying what everyone is thinking lol
I’m American and I gasped like “THEY WENT THERE”
"I don't like gin, and I'd still pick Ryan Reynolds"
Same Cristine 😂
I am surely not the only person who thought dirty thoughts when they were discussing the tattoo that would show what you did yesterday 😂
not at all lol
I have so many questions like do you get to choose which part of the day, or is it random? Not even dirty stuff but what if the tattoo always decided to show the same time in the morning so every day it's just a tattoo of me scrolling Instagram while pooping
Same I thought “what if I see my mother the next day?” 😅
@@its_clean also which body part? cause i've got tattoos and it's pretty easy to cover up unlike if your whole skin changes color it's not that discreet
That's okay Cristine, my sister's one of the smartest people I know (with a bachelor in ancient greek & latin) and when she was like. 25, I think (this happened years ago) she told me about how her primary motivation for living healthy was to see the year three thousand, just like the song and I was like.
Wat.
She genuinely thought it'd be 2099...3000.. and not a thousand more years
😂
At one point I also thought like that 😅😆
Fun fact, my high school science teacher was actually a reoccurring zombie actor in The Walking Dead in between school sessions. He had a couple iterations, I guess casting just really liked him. He’s the coolest guy obviously.
The thing about cleaning for the cleaning people is: Cleaning people CLEAN. They don't tidy or straighten, and if you are messy they can't do their job. Those folks dust, clean surfaces like toilets and showers, vaccuum....but they can't do any of that if you've got piles of clothes around or dishes in the sink or whatever. They're not a maid service, they just clean.
but the question was about maids I believe? so is it a maid job to tidy then? or were the maids only for her rich neighbours can't remember
Cleaning lady here! We usually ask that things are cleared away off the floor if a client wants it cleaned and shelves tidied/decluttered if a client wants them dusted. :)
We'll go around if not, haha. Some small things we moved, but I use my better judgement. I know it sounds silly... to clean for the cleaning lady, but it ensures we can clean everything for you. :D
Super DUPER simps?!?! 🤩 Absolutely adored this episode, the giggles and spontaneity were infectious.
I got strong J&J podcast vibes from this episode. Ben’s “fire” transition to the sponsor message, Cristine yelling at the random person who wrote the questions for Parade…
I hope someday julien is a guest on the podcast!!!
same. sometimes i still listen back to j&j podcast and i just love how the vibe is so similiar ❤
Can we allow Ben and Cris to do their own thing without comparisons?
😂 Ben coming in with that ✨spicy✨ monarch commentary.
Yo, with the current drama round Harry not being allowed to salute his grandma's casket because he was no longer a working royal -- where the guy who served two tours in Afghanistan has to stand stock still in a suit while by people who never stepped foot on a battlefield get to be decked out in full military regalia for no reason other than they looked the other way while the pedo-protecting, openly racist media went after TWO women in his family -- I say THE SPICE MUST FLOW.
Based. It's refreshing to hear after all the media focus on that (and relative lack of critique of the outdated system).
Still stuck on how Cristine thinks you can't sit down if you aren't wearing underwear 😂😂
I know exactly why, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets it.
@@paganpines not wearing underwear doesn't mean naked bum on things; still wearing pants or whatever. Lol
Wear sweatpants 🤷🏻♀️
I have a cleaning service exactly for the reason you guys named against it. I tried for a long time to be tidy and clean and after years of getting just more and more chaotic and panic-cleaning before accepting visitors I had to accept that I will never be tidy without an immediate reason to keep my place in shape. So now I have my cleaning lady coming every other week and I will tidy up before she arrives to make it easier to clean. It feels great not having to lug the vacuum or the mop around and having a more organized place thanks to the regular tidying, and it also feels nice to contribute to somebody's living wage (I chose a service specifically that provides insurance and holiday for their workers). I am also keenly aware of how fortunate I am to be able to afford such a service.
My youngest at 3 told me the Easter Bunny wasn't real along with Santa so she helped me fill her sister's basket and stockings from then on. My oldest asked me about the leprechaun at 5, I told her he doesn't exist and she decided to not believe me and made a trap just in case, so after that when she would ask about any of that I would reply with "Do you want the truth or to continue to believe?" She chose to believe for a few more years and her younger sister loved being the bunny and Santa to her older sister.
Omg this is so adorable 🥰🥰🥰
I remember my neighbour telling me the tooth fairy isnt real because she was mad at me ☹️ that day my world broke down and my parents where really mad at her
I love how the youngest was like ‘I’m going to need facts bro” and the older one was like “NONBELIEVERS ALL OF YOU THE GREAT PUMPKIN WILL COME” 😂❤
You guys crying real tears over Cristine asking if there were humans a thousand years ago is giving me LIFE!
You guys should play trivial pursuit or something, it's so fun see you ramble on different topics!
With coma, I think one should consider everything that follows: are you partly comatose, where you can barely move, you are super tired all the time, maybe you have cognitive problems? You need to be physically guided to do every day things, like brushing your teeth or getting dressed, and you will probably wear a diaper. Like after a severe stroke/brain injury?
Also think about the muscle mass you will lose after 10 years... you will not be able to walk because you have lost almost all your muscle mass, your joints will be completely stiff, unless someone has been moving your arms, legs, thorax, neck passively while you're comatose. After 10 years of loss of muscles mass, you will probably not re-learn how to walk. Just some food for thought.
That was all I could think about. I'd take prison every time.
This! I came here from podcast to say this.
Also you can get all kind of infections from catheters (if used) and other stuff you are hooked to.
Movies, for obvious reasons, really downplay comas.
I think the main reason I wouldn't want to be royalty 1,000 years ago, is that I wouldn't want to be married off as a teenager to solidify an alliance with another country.
We started getting a cleaner when my partner had major surgery and we have kept it now with having a baby. It is the best thing ever. 2 hours every other week, we tidy the house ourselves, and we always have to make sure we do that before she comes, but she does all the deep cleaning like the shower, moping etc. Absolutely makes sense that cristine had to tidy her room before the cleaner came, the last thing you want the cleaner to be doing is tidying. I highly recommend if you can. It's not like we dont have to still clean and tidy we just don't have to do the deep cleaning jobs
simply forgetting that humans have been around for more than 1000 years was the comic relief i needed after class/ and working in lab all day 😂 i know she’s not dumb and if she thought about it she would remember that we have at least been alive 2022 years and then she’d remember BC time and all wouldve been ok but the brain fart was quite entertaining and relatable
For Ben: There is a surgical nurse on Grey’s Anatomy who has never had any lines, but she has been on the show at least the majority of its running, if not the entire series.
I think you're right to tell kids about the truth about the holiday magic when they start asking real questions- the hitch is, a lot of times when they come to you saying "Mom, is the Easter Bunny REAL?" they're actually looking for confirmation that he IS- as in, a relative or a friend just said something that made them worry. If you take that opportunity to go " You caught me, kiddo!" Um... bad timing. o_O Better to wait until they express their own doubt or suspicions, and then you can go "Okay, yeah, let's talk about what really makes the holidays special."
Cristine: were there humans 1000 years ago?
Me, an archeology student: Oh dearie me
Heathers?! Love that movie and its musical is A M A Z I N G
tee hee.. With you there. I graduated with a degree in anthro. 😂
the way cristine went so braindead for a moment that ben was so close to convincing her that humans and dinosaurs coexisted lmfao
5 years jail vs 10 years coma: remember that 10 years in a coma is going to lead to DAMAGE! You're not just going to pop out of bed like you just had a good night's sleep.
My dad and my brother are both extras in the movie Pearl Harbor. Just FYI. I am so proud of them everytime I watch the movie.
Cristine calling herself a "pale friend" 🤣 my brain = 👽
My mom is a house keeper and the majority of her clients are either people who own a vacation home that they rent out and she cleans between guests, or they’re older people who struggle to clean their house on their own and they (or their kids) hired her for extra help.
Cristine Chose prison because she could still work there and be productive while 10 years of sleep would be just wasted time and to much of a vaccation
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was not thinking about that, but this makes sense, lol 😂
I was listening to this at work and absolutely LOST IT at my desk when Cristine excitedly said “throw sand at him!!” 😂
As someone who has spent 2 years in prison I would say it depends on the jail/prison. I have definitely been in a couple jails that I would rather have spent double that time in a coma. Also your criminal record (usually) follows you for life.
A wrap sheet that employers can use to deny you employment -- which, in a big enough crisis, can drive a person to return to extralegal means of making income. And in U.S. states that have a "Ban the Box" initiative (the box being the checkbox on employment applications that indicates you have a criminal record) employers have carte blanche started to refuse hiring people who "look" like they are "more statistically likely" to have a criminal record -- i.e., Black and Brown men who are targeted more by the carceral state. Our prison/criminal justice system needs ... uh, work.
Annnnnnd this has been your moment of downerness.
Interesting. I was today years old when I learned it's a "wrap" sheet and not a "rap" sheet hahaha can't tell you the logic behind why I thought it was "rap" lol

This is one of the most hilarious podcasts they've had 💀💀 "she could feed me bananas" made me choke on my water 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
just read jennete's book, i was amazed at how relatable it happened to be even though i'm not a woman, not a child actor, and have not had any ED, but damn that book hit hard!
They were so goofy in today's episode ☺️. I loved it!
I love that Cristine said "Chat" lol at 7:02 shows how shes changed in to a streamer!!
Oh my god, this was the best pod cast yet! Never laughed so hard. And girl I relate to being a pale girl that shows emotions no matter what. I hate when people try to make me blush because the thought of not blushing makes me blush!
“She could feed ME bananas” 😂 oooooh Ben 😂
Fun fact. There is a Greys Anatomy actor who is an actual medical professional. The scrub nurse Bokhee, that you see fairly often in the OR is an actual scrub nurse.
To the changing color on mood question: I understood it less as a "you turn red when you feel something", but more like those mood rings we had back in the day - you turn blue when you are happy, green if you are sad etc.
as someone who doesn't want to be seen I would hate it 100%
Honestly king vs dictator just being PR is such a mood 😂loved that whole discussion
I could listen to Ben and Cristine talk about randomness for hours!
'Cristine he'a an actor' had me busting a gut 🤣🤣
I think the uncomfortable truth vs. Comfortable lie might mean more like "Everything is bad and we might not make it" vs. "Don't worry, everything is going to be ok."
Cris is like the inverse of Zaphod Beeblebrox. Instead of the person who most wants the job being least suited to it, she's the person who least wants the fame and is most suited to it.
#hitchhikersguidetothegalaxy
Ben, you'll have to have years of rehabilitation to function properly after such a long coma....😅
I’d say that’s not too incomparable to being in the prison system for 5 years. Most/a lot of ex-prisoners need therapy and rehabilitation from being in the prison system as well as having to rebuild their lives and struggle to get a job with a record.
I would choose jail aswell. For the people around me it would be easier & i would rather be "gone" for 5 years than 10 years. In a coma you miss so much and have to relearn society and learn a lot of basic stuff again. Everyone around you moved on in the 10 years and you're stuck in a body that is way older but you're practicly still 10 years younger.
i really enjoyed being called a superduper simp lol! have a great taco tuesday everyone 💜🌮😸
The coma v prison makes me realize how different canada and the us are. Because my first reaction was prison, because i know i can’t handle the financial repercussions of a 10 year coma
Thank you for this lighthearted but hilarious podcast. I’ve had a challenging day and the nonstop laughter this podcast brought is super appreciated!
Beynnnn’s transition into the ad today reminded me of Julien😂
My sister use to work for a cleaning service. The most common agreement was that her crew was not allowed to "pick up" or organize the client's belongings, they would just vacuum, dust, or clean around them.
Ben talking about how he’d smooch Ryan gosling in a second lol.
“Cristine he’s an actor” had me rolling 😂the energy of this podcast is giving A+
I recently re-watched Degrassi on HboMax and a few times I caught myself being like damn imagine if I grew up watching Simply on here instead of RUclips
the movie encanto taught me i never want to see any length into the future cause Bruno got shit on for it when he didn't make the future happen he just reported it :P
A cleaning lady/service isn't there to clean up after you. They are usually there to clean the house (dust, vacuum, wash floors, clean the bathroom, etc)
the fact that both are the same word in english is very confusing to me :')
This podcast was so much fun. It was so silly and made me lol a lot.
This whole episode made me laugh so hard and I very much needed that. Take care.
Congratulations on the sponsorship! ❤️
As a former nanny, live in structures are more common for families who work on call or extremely late hours or even going overseas. The upgrade from babysitter to nanny comes from the duties performed combined with the time frame. One of my families I was responsible for walking the child to and from school and performing certain errands like picking up groceries or dinner and then making the child an after school snack weekdays and i had weekends off. Some nights I cooked dinner too, and in some families you may be asked to perform cleaning duties but that usually comes with a pay raise. Babysitters typically only work evenings and are not typically responsible for taking the children to or from school, they're just there to watch the kid and keep the house from burning down, they *might* work multiple nights a week or they might have to prep dinner but usually that's something the parent has prepared for the sitter ahead of time (money for pizza on the counter, or pot roast in the cooker)
I remember in 4th grade finding a suspicious list of items like "BBQ" around October/ November (it was gone the next time I looked for it). That Christmas, I got a dollhouse with a separate Doll BBQ set as well as everything on that list. Naturally, each gift I unwrapped from 'Santa' was a tough pill to swallow. Still, I tried to pretend for a while longer. But then I was in 7th or 8th grade when my mom just handed me stuff and said: "Wrap it, it's for your father. Write 'From Santa' on the tag." No talk, no discussion, just a splash of cold water. I definitely think that there needs to be a transition from the fantastical world of your childhood, but that being 'lied' to, believing in something impossible was really fun while it lasted~
Okay so this was my favorite podcast episode EVER! Nice to see you both in good moods. And thanks for showing the Internet that its is okay not to know everything! It really gave me confidence!

I'm recovering from covid and this made me day!! This one was fun, and I can tell you both enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for the laughs...Chris Hemsworth all the way
I've listened to a few different podcasts where they've had a "would you rather" episode, and while Cristine and Ben absolutely went at it with the most respect because they are decent, kind and thoughtful people, I find this topic to be very troubling. I've had people very close to me in a coma that they never came out of, and I developed a visual disability in my late 20's that came out of nowhere. Certain "would you rather" questions trivializes these types of experiences and can be triggering for a lot of people. I don't understand why it's considered fun to speculate which type of suffering would be preferable. I love Simply Podlogical, and I feel sad leaving a critical comment here. I hope anyone reading this understands that it's said with love & respect for the safe space Simply has championed for so long. I also understand that this may just be my opinion because of my experiences, but I felt it was worth expressing.
Every time you talk about being in commercials it blows my mind to think how I saw you on TV as a young child and watch you now.... especially being a Canadian, I remember all of the commercials you were in. It's like a full circle moment
I believed in Santa way longer than most kids. And when I realized he wasn't real I didn't tell my mom. I'm very glad she did this with us. I see. No harm in it. We had the best memories and I loved every bit of it. My mom made it so magical and she was a single broke parent and I think that's partly why we believed so long. We never thought she could afford all of that.
You will never know how happy I was to be called a super simp today, it’s been too long

it’s almost illegal how often Ben stares directly into camera. It’s so instinctual for him. This isn’t a criticism lol I love it
This is a fun, different idea! Thanks for the podcast, as always. Very entertaining 👍
With Ben's Bunker idea. I always have a fear of enclosed places which always leads me to imagining the worst.
So I would assume if you had a bunker, you still would have to occasionally leave it for some sort of supplies. And then my fear in that case is that they will just get in anyway and you will be stuck underground with a bunch of zeds and no way to get out.
this ! also, not sure if it's a thing in the movie, but I think Panic Room has to do with that fear
@@_bebeboudeur_ Indeed! That movie was a wee bit spooky. lol
I even have this thought when people are in zombie movies with the windows boarded up. Like, yes it is more difficult for them to get in, but they always do, and then you cannot get out because everything is boarded up!! LOL
Please do more of these, I was cry laughing 😂

I feel like pirates would be more chaotic and make less sense than ninjas, which makes me believe that Cristine would prefer the company of ninjas compared with the chaotic energy of pirates 🤣.
