@@ToolsandTargets yeah little different in combat than autos. They use to make us stop in qualification if you didnt keep count. Do it twice and you had to come back. Trying to teach you only had six shots. You oughta try being in pursuit shoot six at a vehicle moving about 90 and reloading a revolver at speed. A trip for sure.I like them still good for those that dont get along with autos. Double action is a little different getting use to. I wish I had all of them back that I traded but you know how that goes. Have fun with it

In late 2016, shortly after moving from Missouri to Indiana I bought a D.A.O. version. I kept the wooden grips on it, because of the cool factor, till today. I switched to the plastic grips just to test them out. I'm not sure which ones I'll keep on it though. I love this gun! I don’t have an RIA revolver yet.

      @@upholdthesecond92
5.7x28 is better than .22 TCM unless you only count the super pud loaded 5.7x28 ammo.
I have a conversion barrel for .22 TCM & a 5.7x28 handgun & I'm getting quite a bit more energy out of the 5.7x28 & way better wound tracks in gel.
The .22 TCM is still a decent round, though.
My best .22 TCM numbers are 40 grains @ 1975 FPS.
My best 5.7x28 numbers are 34 grains @ 2315 FPS.
Both of those still compare very well to the common service calibers.
You can get up to about 380 ft/lbs from the .22 TCM & up to about 410 ft/lbs from the 5.7x28.
(This is from a handgun not a Carbine)
My main problem with 5.7x28 is how weak the common Federal rounds are loaded.
You can pull the bullets & safley work up the load almost 400 FPS over the factory loading.
No excuse for loading them that light from the factory.

I’ve bought a Maverick 88 I haven’t been able to make fail and a Taurus g2c back when they had those rebates. These are the best 3 values I’ve found in firearms, this one being my favorite. It weights 24 oz. which make it shoot really smooth. Little orange paint on that front blade, and you’ll love this little gun. I’ve got an untold fortune in handguns, this inexpensive revolver fills a niche for concealed carry, it just does.

Back when I still worked for Academy Sports, I picked up the M200. Retailed for (at the time) $219.99. My employee discount, plus Academy credit card discount brought it down to $167.20...but after tax $184.08. Best (sub) $200 I've ever spent on a gun. Huge bang for your buck, especially if your'e a little cash-strapped and you need something to protect your home, yourself, or loved one.
My only nitpick complaint is that I wish the grips were a little thinner so I actually utilize the speed loader I have (HKS DS) as well as the factory sights leaving a bit to be desired.
Edit: Just remembered I have a Kel-Tec P17 that at the time, retailed for $199.99 and I used the same two discounts to get it down to $167.34 (after tax). Pro Tip: if you shop Academy, sign up for the card and just pay the balance while at the register. They'll let you do it as long as it's cash, check, or debit card (can't use another credit card) and you'll get an easy 5% off everything and not even worry about the interest. It's also stackable with employee discount, teacher, first responder, military, and healthcare worker discount (10% off when active).

I think it's a cool little pistol. It's interesting that Rock Island went with more of a Colt's style action with the cylinder release and cylinder rotation. It seems most companies copy the S&W style. I like how this looks with the wood grips. With that skinny grip and the Colt's style cylinder stop, it looks a lot like an old Detective's Special. If it was mine, I'd take some Scotchbrite to the finish and make it look like an antique gun with the finish worn from use.

She currently has the little Glock .380 and has trouble racking the slide so she want's something easier overall. She shot my Taurus 65 today with .38's in it and she said it was easier to shoot, just too heavy. I told her one made just for .38 would be smaller and lighter, lol. This looks like the best option for her hands, and budget.

      “No,”
      Unequivocally, unambiguously and plainly, yes.
“I did Gunsmithing and Firearms Instruction my entire career. I've been a S&W Armorer for over 30 years. I have also worked on these RIA Revolvers for the last few years.”
This is called a non sequitur, or colloquially known as a logical fallacy.
“I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.”
Regarding you being a smith, I have no reason to doubt you.
Regarding the laws of logic and committing logical fallacy, you are drowning in an ocean of them.
“My "Critical Thinking Skill Set" arrived at the Firearm, it's inner workings and durability.”
And this is the heart of the matter. My original post had nothing to do with *THEE QUALITIES* of *THEE GUNS,* but only *THEE PRICES* and *THEE BOXES* received.
“But.....Duh, it's a really cool box so it must be a really nice gun.”
Again you double down on poor logic when you've been corrected…
      Why ?
Because you infer I commit the fallacy known as a category error (gun=box and box=gun), which I never committed.
And two, you commit the logical fallacy known as a strawman. (Ignoring what I said and building up fake argument that I never made, in order to easily attack it)
*Good grief...* are you trolling me ?
      *lol...*
*Preemptive response :* If you must continue therein with demonstrating the clear fact that you are no logician, have at it. But I suggest studying logic so you become more effective in argumentation, because you have failed here miserably.

I have the Rock Island Model 206. When I shoot it double action with regular .38 loads it locks up after the 4th to 5th round. Locks up means I can't pull the trigger or pull back the hammer to shoot it again.
To fix this malfunction I have to release the cylinder and close it again. I talked to a local gun shop about this and they do not sell the Model 206 anymore because of this problem. I sent in a Rock Island M5 shotgun for repair because it fell apart after shooting 10 rounds and had other issues. It came back unrepaired. And I did not get my orange plastic part to show that the chamber was clear. I contacted them asking for it and never heard back. So I'm not going to waste my time sending this Model 206 38 for repair. Oh and the trigger pull is so clunky.

How's the lock up on the 206, is there alot of play in the cylinder? I'm considering one but not sure if I want the Rock Island or a Taurus. I want a cheap beater snubby but I'm on the fence. I'm leaning towards the 605 since it would let me use 357 too but then again the 605 is tiny for a 357. It probably wouldn't see a whole lot of 357 anyway and the 206 would give me an extra round. I know there's also the 856 but my ffl has the Rock Island and the 605 for around the same price. They're charging more for the 856 so if I'm going with a 38 might as well be the Rock. My RK almost always keeps these and the model 200 in stock. They have it in stock on their site right now too.

I have some questions about this revolver. Can it handle plus p ammo? And how's it holding up a year later? Would you say that this revolver is as good as the Taurus equivalent? I'm looking at one of the RIA's and a Taurus equivalent at one of the local pawnshops and I've been sort of looking at revolvers for my personal carry but money is a little bit tight right now. I figured that I would buy budget friendly now and later when my financial situation gets better I'll step up to something a bit nicer like a Smith and Wesson or a Ruger. My current carry is really a bit awkward for cc so I'm either looking at revolvers or a pocket 380. Something more concealable without the pain anyway...

It can handle +P ammo and has held up perfectly. As far as comparing it to the taurus ones, I would say the taurus has a slight edge on fit and finish but as far as function, they're pretty much identical.👍

Listening to you I immediately was drawn to your voice. It took me a while but I finally placed your voice with an old cartoon show I watched in the 1960s called ' The Hunter'. I had not thought of that cartoon in all these decades until hearing your voice. You sir, are ' The Hunter'. Watch an episode here on RUclips.

I think I’m going to get one of these for a girl I know. Do you think a hollow point will open up at the slow speed? I’ve already watched one we’re you tested ammo Inc and another one neither doing well. Thanks!

It's tricky to get a .38 special that opens up and gets good penetration from a short barrel.

@@ToolsandTargets Xtreme defenders probably do the trick. Just so dame expensive.

If you could only choose one. This little banger or the Taurus 856?

Probably the Taurus. they both have been perfect, but I think I like the look of the Taurus just a little more.
