  • One thing that may help a lot of people when they're getting started with growing mushrooms at home is a still-air box. But when you search for these on Amazon or Ebay it can be a little overwhelming, so I decided to check this one out and share how it performs because it's affordable enough for a lot of people to get. Still-air boxes are an easy way to increase the sterility of the area you're working in, and in effect, your chances of success. This is especially so if you don't have the workspace to devote to a total mycology setup. Still-air boxes like these make it much easier to work in sterile conditions and eliminate variables and contamination. I use this one mostly for live mushroom cultures on agar Petri dishes or culture slants like in this video. But the nice thing is you can use these for everything from agar pouring, to tissue transfers, mushroom bag inoculations, and spore prints if you want a sterile sample. Basically, anything mycology or biology related, that doesn't require a high temperatures, you can use this.
Like I said in my video, this is actually a fairly simple and easy-to-use tool and will help some people obtain the cleanest possible results. I don't use the one I have here all that often, but it's definitely one of those things that are really nice to have when you really need one.
