"This video is for educational and entertainment purposes only. All guns displayed off the range are safety checked and only displayed pointing in safe directions. All footage at the range is private range and the gun is handled by a Range Officer certified by the National Range Officer Institute. This video is not promoting or attempting to sell guns. Sale of guns is heavily regulated and I am not associated with any federally licensed firearms dealer. The actions of all firearms displayed are unmodified and presented as commonly available from original equipment manufacturers. This video is not instructional on building or modifying firearms. Nothing has been done to increase the rate of fire or lethality of the firearms displayed nor would I advocate making such modification as it presents a huge liability and potential risk of harm or death."

Yes, we do appreciate the sound test in the videos. Even though microphones do not do the best on picking it versus standing beside it, but it gives us a good idea. I understand that it is a lot of work and if your cost benefit analysis does not find it worth it, then it would be a sad loss for us, but definitely understanding.

@@AlabamaArsenal You would know better than I would, but I think the group of people looking into buying suppressors is small, but I imagine a huge percentage of the people who are looking into buying suppressors rely on videos like yours to make decisions. Your comparison videos of the nomad and nomad L really helped me make a decision between the two, despite the video not perfectly portraying how they truly sound. Every friend I've talked to who is into suppressors has said they watch videos like yours to help them make decisions. I think we all appreciate the quality of your video and the amount of useful info you give. Like the original commenter said, if you took the "raw sound" part out, we'd understand, but I know I personally really benefit from watching those

Tim- you produce the best content I’ve found on the subject matter. Jay at PewScience provides definitive objective analysis of many silencers- but not all of them and rarely on a multitude of hosts. I find enormous value in your subjective assessment of everything you’ve shown us. Not only is it entertaining but in the case of silencers you are likely to illustrate their performance faster than Jay can test, compile, analyze, and publish his findings- not to disparage Jay in any way. You are both of high value to me. Cheers.

As an additional thought, something I think video could capture well that I haven't been able to find much on is low-light flash signatures as well as how much the back pressure affects cycling of semi auto guns. Some of these comparisons would be very interesting and something that other suppressor channels don't seem to focus on.

My 2 cents on sound tests is while interesting I never chance decibel numbers when looking at cans. I have personally heard quieter cans with higher DB numbers and the opposite for the lower depending on manufacturer, ammo, etc and thats something I sorta learned (because the jargon is a little above my understanding) from the gentleman at pew science. The perceived sound of a can is different for everyone and the true nature of "quite" is actually the pressure wave.

Awesome video Tim. Been waiting on this one! I'm still thinking about getting one of these to add to the collection. 👍🏼
I catch a bunch of crap comments on my videos about the sound quality for the sound differences, or because I don't use (i.e. can't afford 🤣) professional equipment, and because of background noise I couldn't control (at the time, I now have permission to shut off the big fans if I want to) at the range.
Personally, I like the sound tests, because I've been around this stuff my whole life, and I own and have shot many suppressors, so I know what to listen for to gauge how it's going to sound. Also, I use BeyerDynamic DT770 PRO headphones, and an Audience EVO4 interface so I get REALLY good sound reproduction.

You follow Jay’s data at Pew Science, you know that the sound test portions in your videos aren’t very scientific. That being said, even knowing it’s not translating perfectly or giving me a real idea of how I would hear it in person, I personally still enjoy those segments quite a bit. I like hearing the tonal difference between different cartridges running through the cans, I like hearing how the secondary combustion of short barrels changes the sound in the video, and -completely unrelated to the sound- I like that in those segments you’re standing still and the camera is stationary, so I can get a good look at the amount of gas being blown back down the barrel. I count on Jay for sound data, but I still get information that I personally find valuable in your test segments. Thank you for your hard work!
Side note: I liked the backing track you used in this one, idk why, it seemed happy. Lol.

I do like to hear/see the sound testing, but I agree that it's probably not that helpful in reality because even if you capture it on a great microphone, the majority of us are probably watching on a phone or laptop with mediocre speakers and the sound just doesn't translate well. For me the most relevant sound tests I've seen are when different platforms are compared directly and under the same conditions to provide some level of comparison. At the end of the day, it's probably more useful to have your anecdotal explanation of how it performs and compares to other known suppressors. Thanks for the work you do and I look forward to more content from your channel!

I enjoy seeing suppressor videos that include Db ratings.
I am a relatively new Suppressor owner, having been in the game probably about a year or a little more and I own a grand total of three.
I have a B&T APC9 SD, PRO, Wolfman and the CGS Group Mod9 FS.
I use the Wolfman and the mod nine on the following Registered SBR PCC’s‘
    H&K:
    SP5 & PDW.
    B&T:
    APC 9 PRO
    KUSA:
    KP9.
What I was hoping to achieve, and what I have actually achieved seem to be two different things. What I wanted, was a hearing safe experience so I could go to the range and shoot ear pro free.
What I got was, an experience where even with subsonic 9 I still have ear ringing that lasts for hours after the range trip.
I have not quite narrowed down the source, I don’t know if it is the actual firing of the Subsonic rounds and their associated noise, or if it is a result of the metallic clicking of the bolt action, or a combination of the two. Like I said I am a suppressor newbie in the extreme.
Since my hearing is already bad enough, and I do understand that the damage is cumulative, I still wear ear pro when shooting suppressed.
Anyway, I do enjoy your videos, you guys seem to really know your stuff. Thanks for the content!

as far as the sound tests - I definitely want to see sound tests, but depending on the speakers/headset its being played on, it is hard to relate that to real world. While quantitative data is great as well with the decibel readings, the same problem arises of how to compare that to real life. One of the cooler video's I saw as far as this was they shot a suppressed 22 and then had a staple gun that they "shot" in the same place to show the comparison. From your own video - with the 45-70 in the very start, the way I used to try to judge the sound was comparing the sound of the shot vs the sound of the lever being worked.

Great video. Maybe just me but I can only really tell a difference when someone shoots subs thur a can on video. All the supers sound the same. But I do like to see the decibel difference in a test.

Great video as always, gentlemen. The insights are appreciated. Regarding what I would like to see in your vids? The sound pressure tests always tickle the little nerdy data miner in me; but, utimately, they are not what I want to hear about. I would prefer honest and open comparisons with other hardware that you have hands on experience with. I realize that it is not likely for that to happen, but indicating if a do-all suppressor (like a primal) is even remotely close to a Mod9 or closer to a Wolfman on a 9mm would be nice. How does it fare against a Nomad on a .308? Same applies to what you would hang on a lever 45-70. Is the Primal close to a Hybrid for tone? Given the subjective nature of the items and how they perform, I get why you don't typically do it; but, it sure would be nice to know where some options stack up in the pantheon of whisper pickles. Thanks again, for the hard work and time that you all put in, and as always, I refuse to take your advice, and endeavor to collect yet one more stamp.... Good Lord. 😁

Thanks for the feedback, in my opinion I would say that the primal is very close to the Mod9 and the wolfman on 9mm. Now that being said it is also a good bit larger. The primal is close to a Nomad 30, but not quite as quiet, and no where near as quiet as Nomad L. To my ears the Primal betters the Hybrid by a bit, but not sure that's totally fair because my Hybrid has so many rounds through it. Thanks for watching!

id say for the sound tests i like them, but i trust your judgement on suppressors! for the price point on this suppressor i think this would be a great suppressor for the future 8.6 blackout!

Just waiting on mine. Hopefully this new eforms process works as it should. I plan to use mine on .308, 7.62x39, .45acp, and 5.56... I have seen RUclips videos where people used it on 22lr, but your video explained why it's not recommended.
