I am thrilled that you were able to grasp the multiple layers and texture of his voice and that you had chills during the performance, I get them all the time. The first time I watched this performance I couldn't speak for 5 minutes. I wasn't sure what I had just seen then quickly became mildly obsessed with getting feedback from professionals so I could be certain I wasn't being bamboozled by technical effects or some such mechanisms. Santiago Glew, One of my most favorite performances of Dimash is when he did DAYBREAK at Gakku where he does a whistle note. Like you I think Dimash is the best singer in the world and I hope he stays the humble man he is today. Saw some lovely behind the scenes images of him hugging his Father after doing this song on a video someone brought about a year ago of all the songs he did from the SINGER. It shows how close he is to his family ang it is so touching.
Keep watching him! It just gets more and more amazing. He was only 22 in this performance and is almost 25 now. Has degrees is classical and contemporary voice and is working on master's degree in composition.

It's a very sad story of a wartime Chinese/ Japanese singer her pitifull emotions Dimash imports it to the stage and then exports it to the audience. Welcome to our Dimash. You have already figured out how exceptional of a singer he is. One of a kind. He can sing from low baritone to high soprano, mixing all kind of different tones in one song, sometimes 2 tones in one phrase. He can sing opera, pop.....pretty much anything he decides to tackle, he succeeds. To me what makes him so very special is his ability to convey the emotions of a song no matter what language he uses. He sings phonetically in French for example and nobody could tell that he does not speak the language. His stage presence is unparalleled. That internal focus you spoke of is one of Dimash's hallmarks. He draws his forces into himself when he first comes on stage and then lets it rip. Quickly, he extends his focus into the audience and engages them in his song. It's a regular tsunami of emotions and power from that point on. The listener (who also observes and notes that stage presence and the drama!) feels an irresistible pull into the story being sung. It's all amazing.....Kazahk magic.

Late Autumn is his masterpiece.u need to go to (Gloria Wu) where Dimash explains of his research for this song. It's a very sad story of a wartime Chinese/ Japanese singer her pitifull emotions Dimash imports it to the stage and then exports it to the audience. The emotions are reflected on the face if the audience.

What you're witnessing is a 6 OCTAVE male voice, ranging from around B2 to the now famous "whistle note" D8, at the concert in Gakku (singing "Unforgettable Day")--don't try to find the note on the keyboard, it's the non-existant key space where the piano's frame is, instead! He has been trained since his singer parents noticed his talent at about 5 and enrolled him in the Kazakh Institute of Music; he trained all the way through puberty, retaining his boy soprano range and, as the baritone chest voice began to appear, training how to overlap higher chest notes with lower head voice notes, then phenomenally-high head notes with falsetto, so he can transition through the passagios that most of us singers have to "flip" in an out of. Depending on the vowel, he has multiple notes at the top and bottom edges of all three ranges he can interchange, to transition seamlessly up and down the octaves he wants to match with lyrics, all the while switching different timbres on and off, by just moving his soft palate up and down--child's play for him. Result: a vocal range of 6 octaves "stitched together", effortlessly controlled. May I offer the following progression of live performance videos, to shorten your grasping the full range of this young phenom? Welcome to our Dimash. You have already figured out how exceptional of a singer he is. One of a kind. He can sing from low baritone to high soprano, mixing all kind of different tones in one song, sometimes 2 tones in one phrase. He can sing opera, pop.....pretty much anything he decides to tackle, he succeeds. To me what makes him so very special is his ability to convey the emotions of a song no matter what language he uses. He sings phonetically in French for example and nobody could tell that he does not speak the language. His stage presence is unparalleled. The way he uses his hands is amazing....they are a complete extension of his voice. Discovered him last year. I was entranced for a solid month. He is beyond human.
That internal focus you spoke of is one of Dimash's hallmarks. He draws his forces into himself when he first comes on stage and then lets it rip. Quickly, he extends his focus into the audience and engages them in his song. It's a regular tsunami of emotions and power from that point on. The listener (who also observes and notes that stage presence and the drama!) feels an irresistible pull into the story being sung.

Dimash keeps surprising me. I think he can’t possibly get better. This was when he was 22. His music from today is on a whole new level. I would say if you want to do more. Select some performances from 2017, then move to 2018 and onto today. That way you can see his growth as well. I listen to a variety of his music now, old and new. But I am glad I moved along with him. Seeing him grow. There are also older videos of him younger. If you want to see where he semi started from.
