Thankyou. The play along at the end is a welcome bonus too. This actually helped me a fair bit as a beginner bass player. There's more than just playing the notes on the tab. I can see the way that you FEEL the notes you're playing and the timing. I dont really know how to explain it, but you managed to teach me more than you actually explained and ive even messed around with adding extra notes or changing timing/adding slides in places to give it a different feeling. Some teachers get really technical and i lose track after they start speedrunning pentatonic scales in beginner videos lol. This was more practical and easy to follow as a fresh newbie.
@Bro NY Good point! They are different instruments and serve a different function. I’m learning g as I go how to play the bass do that it serves the song.
@@insertmetalusernamehere I still play my guitar more than the bass, but the bass is fun. I notice that the songs I start writing on bass are different than those I write on the guitar. More groove-oriented.
Thank you for the lesson! Greatly appreciated! I noticed you did the slide and hammer-on near the end of groove #2 and then later pointed that out and explained how those little details add flavor the groove. Good stuff!!
I am not quite what anyone would call a beginner but I do have a student that this will help greatly. I have not had formal lessons on the Bass Guitar but I played a BC Baritone from 5th Grade through Graduation and won 2 Scholarships for private lessons with a man who regularly played with the Boston Pops and the Tijuana Brass, I learned an awful lot from that man that makes playing Bass much easier. I unfortunately lost my Musical Mentor to COPD in October, He was a great Song Writer and I am proud to say that I wrote Bass Lines for more than a few of his originals. I currently have a very good Blues Band put together, we play Hendrix and SRV style Blues as well as several other Covers and we have written a few good Instrumental Blues pieces. I just set up a studio and have a Boss 1200 Recording Unit. All the same, I never turn down a chance to learn something new and I like those simple lines you used, I will be watching more of your videos.
My first time playing bass guitar was around 1964. My bass guitar playing style was jazz, and the Beatles, James Brown, the Rolling Stones, and the Jimi Hendrix experience.
Found your video and enjoyed for a beginner bass player 4 plus years. I especially enjoy the slower timing. I thought I run across your videos before. Ty.
Very well executed lesson. If you are a budding bassist and using a tablet as you explore the internet for lessons, I highly advise you spend some extra coin at some point on a quality Bluetooth speaker. The convenience of the tablet coupled with my Harmon/kardon go play Bluetooth speaker has proved to be a Godsend. But whichever brand you prefer, the clarity of a quality speaker will motivate you leaps and bounds over a cheap system. I also encourage you to take the time to free flow on and explore your own take on this and any lesson, at any time within the lesson. Those of us who are creative and musically inclined will find ourselves embellishing. It's ok to embellish before you have mastery over any technique. It's even better once you do.
Wow, there are a lot of comments here! I don't know if you get to read them all, but, as I've said elsewhere (replies to other comments) I'm actually a drummer who dabbles a bit with bass. I have a friend who's just started learning bass and I will recommend your channel to him. And I've subscribed too. Thank you
Love this groove. Sounds harder than it actually is, and you explain it well. The tab doesn't match what you are playing, which through me a bit for my offline practice. The notes are the same but you use different and better fingering.
Excellent beginner lesson! The most important thing is not the basslines, but all the advice about technique (controlling the length of the notes, articulation, etc.). This vid would benefit from renaming it. And please give us more beginner lessons (and place them in a dedicated channel).
Your teaching technique is magnificent, I play fretless- and totally understand how & what you teach even us old dog’s when it comes to getting back to the basics of the bass. Thank you, will/62
Hi Yonit great tut, i love your "teaching tricks", there is a way to find only the base to play with? the once you use without the line of the bass. thanks a lot. grazie silvia jamira
This lady is really good she's awesome great excellent teaching technique is perfect. A lot of teachers talk a lot and show very little she talks as she's showing it to you personality is attractive and the way she talks attractive many people think (practice makes perfect) that is completely wrong false stupid... she is the example that (perfect practice makes perfect) I learned more from her im one session then all teachers combined this lady is the Real deal for sure the best teacher I ever hadd you're the bomb girlfriend
Ok I have a fender quilt top 24fret five string bass guitar made in Korea and they don't manufacture them anymore I I string my fender quilt top 24fret five string bass guitar E.A.D.G.C so can I ad flash with my notes on my C. String
This is great. So glad I found you. I have some experience with the guitar, but could never really advance beyond a certain point. Also, with drums. I think that by playing the drums and getting into the bass I see hitting the bass drum is like playing the bass guitar. Does that make sense? I recently acquired a Fender mini-Squire bass and Behringer BXL1800 bass amp. The amp has that deep, low bass sound that I love and I barely have to turn it up. I found that it's fun just changing these two lessons around on my blank TAB pages. Will continue to follow you and am subscribed. I will be 72 in April. :-)
Nice. I sent this video to my beginner student. I figure if he hears the same stuff I'm trying to show him from someone else it will only help. I did notice you are playing on alternate frets, compared to your TAB you are displaying on the first riff - but they are the same notes/tones :).
Gostei muito da sua explicação, eu como iniciante e nessa pandemia sozinho, tenho olhado alguns vídeos, mas dentre vários, ainda não tinha visto um que fosse simples e divertido. Te desejo tudo de bom, um abraço do Brasil!

For a free bass lesson for the public's consumption, I feel like she is talking directly to me. Great communication for a musical passion, thanks.
I just started playing bass. (I’ve played guitar for decades.) It’s a whole new world! These are nice lines. Thank you!
Same story, got mine about two weeks ago. I can't put it down. My guitar is getting lonely but I'm all about my bass now.
Lol....every guitar player "almost" every player ...always treated.l bassplayers like retarded lepers. Dont they realize WE ARE NOT ON THIER LEVEL.

Thanks, Yonit. You're a really good teacher, and I like how you always use your pinky. That's something I have to learn how to do.

That's going to be my back to bass session. Thank you Yonit. Love you

thank you ! you are gorgeous ! i’m just beginning to play bass and you really help me to start ! ✨💫
I'm trying to learn how to play for my grandpa. This is pretty helpful thank you ☺️
I like how the bass is bigger than her.
Why does this matter?
@@nataliesimon7510 it doesn't matter, unless you agree or disagree for some reason. That is kinda how opinions and statements go.
😃😃😃😃😃
Yet she plays the hell out of it I’m sure.

Thank you! This certainy helped me and was easy to understand
This is good, I needed something simple to practice... Especially to stay in the pocket.. My timing is a bit off when I play 😳😅... Thanks Yonit
Don't talk to me about timing! Our last drummer got so depressed about his piss poor timing that he threw himself behind a train!!!!
Great! I Think now i can try play bass!
Great stuff really understanding your lessons how do you ,or what do you use to make those backing tracks?

can someone please tell me the last 4 notes she is actually playing in groove 2? She is so fluid, I can't tell. Thanks
