This song’s catchy and repetitive groove may serve as a good introduction to odd meters for you. I personally enjoy how the tempo breathes throughout the piece, swaying and increasing steadily, requiring your close attention to stay locked in.
By request, I put together a list of gear that I use, and I organized it into the categories below. I’ll keep adding to these lists as I feature new items in my videos.

Can you please play van halen- when its love bro🙏👍
You played it Awesome 🤘😎 Nathan love you Man
you have been such an inspiration to my playing, and it's amazing to see you play the first song I ever learned on bass guitar. Keep rocking dude
Since i have learned this songs bass tabs reasonably well enough i've started looking more at the notes above and start making sense as to where the notes would be when reading sheet music
Great video 👌 🅱️🅰️ss
I know Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I somehow forgot my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Great job!!! Fun fact: This was the first song I ever learned to play on the cash register
Never heard that one before
I bet that was hard especially given that cash registers are a couple cents higher than standard tuning
@@Harry-cz1tv Little known fact: there's no money past the fourth tray.
Fun fact: we don't care
@HARRISON DIESBURG Fun Fact: i don't ask for your opinion
My favorite thing about this song is that it's so deeply familiar that it just doesn't feel like an odd time signature. Also, listening to the playthrough like this and watching the tab scroll by highlights the interaction of the bass and the vocals.
All these uploads pressured me into buying a bass. I'm terrible and I hate it and I play along every day. Thank you. :(
Just takes practice bro. I've been playing over 10 years now still learning init
Be patient, learning instrument takes time. I am a beginner too (5 months, self-taught) so don't worry, it'll get better. Don't stressed yourself over it, just practice and have fun while doing so.
Also here's an advice that might work for you. If you got stuck on parts of a song, maybe find another one instead and then go back to the old one later. You don't always have to force yourself to do the same thing over and over again. It works for me, sometime I can suddenly plays parts that I can't before by basically practicing other thing instead.
I don't know if I'm making any sense, but hope that it helps :-)
@Brendan Berney Thanks guys. And hey just to give a 3 month progress update: My fingers now have callouses.
Keep going dude you won't regret it in the long run
@@funkbassboom true!
The shift into 4/4 is still one of my favourite time signature changes in music
i just started on bass and this is the 11th song i learned how to play it. it took me a week to play along looking the tabs... now i will return here when i get to play this entirely without looking your tabs. THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!!
How's it going
after another 2 years. How's it going?
I love it when songs are 99% chug free, like this one. Another fantastic tab - thanks Nate!
I just got my first electric bass yesterday and i'm full of joy, this is the first song i'm gonna learn! I love this song! Thanks!
Rock on!
Me too!
Thank you so much for this - so entertaining. Money is my favourite song of all time - and the bass is the most integral part of the song in my opinion. Just fantastic, thanks again!
🎶"Don't give me that do goody good........."🎶
"Buuuullsh- Oh"
It's so beautifully simple. I don't play any instrument but the bass is always the best one IMO. No song is complete without a bassline.
Amazing how such a quite easy-to-play song sounds heavenly to my ears.
i push the finger down by mistake. i love this one.sorry
my favorite part of lessons on youtube is seeing thing big "most replayed" spike at the part of the song im having trouble with. glad its not just me
First song I ever learned on bass! Well, kinda. I learned the main riff and the bridge.
That bass is immaculate
I almost forgot how great this song is. I was concentrating on Comfortably Numb, but, after seeing/hearing this, well, you posted these tabs so I just HAVE TO GO FOR IT!!! :) Thank you!!!
It's a joy to listen to this, and the video helps a lot!
Thank you!
The Song that made me buy an electric bass...
3:37-3:44 is the part I get confused on I am glad this video was created
I love how you play. Technician. Great tone.
This is the first song im going to learn thoroughly! Thank you very many for this video Nate C:
Best tab for the song.
First time watching tab along with the music. Loved it❤
Nathan this was the first song i learned long ago my friend
Playing this song fretting the open notes has been great stretch practice. And makes the key change feel more natural. Thanks for the UL
Agreed. I always played this higher up on the fingerboard, but it’s much easier and sounds tighter in open position.
Killer bass line to play. Thanks for putting it out there to follow!
Wow! Looking this up and didn’t expect tutorial from the crème de la crème of bass players! Thank you sir!
So i was introduced this song by my guitar teacher. for the tabs at 2:31 instead of using 10th fret on the E string you can go up a step to the 5th fret if your pinky is giving you trouble. so it would be -A string 5 7 to b string you will just hit the 5th fret then place your index finger back on 7th fret on the A string. you would still need to hit the 7th fret on the low E
Very good, man!! 🟢🟡
Спасибо, получил огромное удовольствие !!!
Interesting one finger technique! Felt a bit werid to play it like that at first but now that I get the hang of it, it makes sense and feels rather natural :)
Brazil loves your song
This is such a great lesson!
😊 Thank You!
Nice work Nate-fun song to play for beginner/intermediates.
Thx fur this. Helping me refresh!
very good video bro! i learned this as my third song on the bass and it was really fun
Love this bassline so much
Oh cool to find you here
Thanks for teaching me this song. I am actually a good bass player in a contemporary Christian group. However I am 71 years old and my hearing is not very good so I often have trouble picking up eighths and sixteenths. These kind of tutorials cut my learning time by 80%.
Nice set up
Beautiful Bass
Just got an acoustic bass this sounds great on it.
Merci great stuff
Awesome job Nathan. As usual.
VERY GOOD, MAN! 🟢🟡
Que hermosa canción! Una obra de arte!! ❤🎧
Delicious tone
Great cover! Keep it up man
Great tone!
Started practicing this today. Thanks for this upload !
Thankyou so much for music and tableture. Awesome job 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love it thank you
No bullsh*t then ;-) Good job - I love playing this song.
Always thought that the A and D notes sound fretted rather than played on open strings. That's the way the recording sounds to me.
SICK TAB BRO!!
Thanks for this video!
Nicely done mate thanks
so good Nathan
My dad got his first bass yesterday, this is the first bassline he learned.
(He's real good at acoustic guitar tho)
Its definitely a swing rhythm especially noticeable in the eigth notes. if its written straight it should be something like a sixteenth followed by a dotted either or something. still great though.
Thanks!
Roger Waters is a bass legend, I love all of his bass lines!! ✌️😙
Good thing to start with, i think?
good bass
Fantastic!
Hey Nate, awesome vid as always. Is it cool if you could do a play-along to some Rush songs like Limelight, Tom Sawyer?or if you dare, YYZ? Cheers 😊
Love this
______________________________Such a classic. Good job.
Thank you
Some of the greatest basslines?
How about tabs for Vulfpeck - Cory Wong
HI there. So interesting to see someone play it open. IE 2 - 0 rather than 2 - 5. I am not sure which one is right, not that it matters.....Edit. I just scoured RUclips. Interestingly Roger Waters does play it with the open strings however David Gilmour plays it 2 - 5 over top (guess that’s because he is on guitar and it’s not so much of a constant stretch). Cool. Thanks for posting this.
I play it 2 - 5 too and I never realized before that I could play it open like him. Very interesting
Votre basse est magnifique!

I looked in the link before asking, but what bass strap are you using??
Hey! It’s a padded leather strap from Franklin Strap.
Family friendly
Great job man! Watching this to see if the tabs I used to learn were right or not lol
Great! Can you play All you need is me by Morrisey?
Excellent man!, a cold beer for you! - pls consider to make the bass cover for "BB King - To Know You Is To Love You" thanks in advance!
Nice 🤟
thanks for your tabs! if possible, please write the bass part in the song Walter de Afogados - Ilumina
Could you do a bass tutorial of July morning by Uriah heep pls.....
I'm really curious why you are choosing to use fingers when the original was played with a pick. I'm not judging at all - it sounds great in your style. I'm just wondering what the reasons are.
I always play it as learnd in drop D tuning.
Why Drop D?
I find it difficult to change the thumb position from pick up to e string
wow nice bro! love this amazinng weeb anime baka arigato love
xD im so funny whaaat ahahahha xDDDDDDD anime baka mha
Hi. Where did you get this plastik between pickups? I need also such. Thanks
Brilliant, I just covered this, let me know you think. I also left a like, well done
Is it just me or does anyone else just want to play an extra note on the riff when learning it?
