Patrick tripped me up at one point. Paraphrasing, he said that the Garden of Eden story might be literal - but it might not be - but regardless the story is meant for our (believers?) benefit and the stories are all part of "the spiritual realm" anyway. That false dichotomy again, where he asserts that either his favourite god directs everything personally or it's all just "random chance." Twaddle. The cosmos around us is effectively "procedurally generated" and the laws that govern it all, determining the shapes that matter takes, are the laws of physics. Emergent complexity from simple rules. If it were down to "random chance" then everything would be chaotic garbage and planets would come in a billion random shapes, not just "spheroid."
I love the "Can't have nothing from nothing," that apologists use. So. If Nothing comes from Nothing. Then where did Magic Sky Daddy come From? Because, Again. "Nothing from Nothing." Oh right. Special Pleading.
All these years I have been given two options; Heaven or Hell. This genius comes along and tells me there is a third option; Luck. Only last week a Christian told me that god will erase me, I will revert to nonexistence. At this rate I am expecting an entire catalogue of options by the end of the decade.
Death is the 1970s vending machine from your childhood's local swimming baths, the place that got closed down in 1981 after 'that incident'. Feed it the 10p of your soul that you've been saving up all week and enter the correct two-letter code on the keypad, then it will reward you with the Monster Munch of eternal nourishment.

Like if you call them outright on it, they'll say "No I'm doesn't! I don't like that guy and his moustache!" then proceed to continue their rhetoric with the serial numbers filed off...

well you can hate or dislike a concept of a thing regardless of its existence, concepts and ideas while not tangible or "real" can have affects on the world as they can dictate ones thinking, if someone accredits them selves to be better then another for no reason other then they believe in an idea that cant be proven true. Others have athw right to be annoyed or even hateful of the Idea causing dissent. i am saying this argument removed from a religous view point so it can be applied to the general statement of "How does one go about hating something that he/she doesn't believe exists?"
They can't admit that what we hate is their behavior, their attitude, and their actions. They pretend we just hate God so they don't have to examine what the actual problem is and what they're doing wrong. It's a way to dismiss the entire argument as strictly our problem. Matt Powell is especially bad about this. He'll claim that none of his infamy has anything to do with the string of bad arguments, lies, and misrepresentations he shovels every video (usually the same ones, he remixes the same crap A LOT), it's just that he's talking about Jesus and we hate that so that's the whole issue.

The notion that a book-a product of human consciousness and culture-could demand belief for organized religion, all while degrading humanity as nothing more than wretched rags unworthy of dignity, is nothing short of contemptible. It’s an insult to human potential, creativity, and worth. You are not some pitiable, groveling creature; you are worthy of admiration, including your own. Celebrate your existence, your mind, and your humanity, and reject the degrading nonsense of a faith that seeks to diminish you. Never let anyone convince you that you are less than magnificent.
As a wise man once said: "I would much rather be a rising ape than a falling angel."

Patrick tripped me up at one point. Paraphrasing, he said that the Garden of Eden story might be literal - but it might not be - but regardless
the story is meant for our (believers?) benefit and the stories are all part of "the spiritual realm" anyway. Wait Patrick - how do I know if the "spiritual realm" itself is literal or not? 😕 That said Patrick hasn't just dipped his foot into the pool of insanity & ignorance - no, far from it! Patrick has belly-flopped off the high dive into the pool and has apparently taken up residence there!
NEWSFLASH Patrick! Dawkins and indeed most atheists talk/write more about Christianity than other religions because Christianity is the religion that people in America and other English-speaking countries ARE THE MOST FAMILIAR WITH! Should Dawkins talk about Zukaluza the four headed goat god from some obscure folk religion? Sidenote only 6 percent of the mayors in England are CHRISTIAN? 😲How many independent sources did you research to verify this "fact" Patrick?

"This is a fallacy, that's a fallacy", Patrick's rant isn't just a fallacy, it's a phallosy, because while he has very bad reasoning, he also proves that he's a giant richardhead.
Well, that took a few moments to compute. Thanks for the good laugh. I'll have to remember it.

Such casual bigotry is impressive in a canadian.
LOL. But it should be expected from a christian one, correct?
That false dichotomy again, where he asserts that either his favourite god directs everything personally or it's all just "random chance." Twaddle. The cosmos around us is effectively "procedurally generated" and the laws that govern it all, determining the shapes that matter takes, are the laws of physics. Emergent complexity from simple rules. If it were down to "random chance" then everything would be chaotic garbage and planets would come in a billion random shapes, not just "spheroid."

When theists describe atheist as so evil, I always picture the wonderful Carl Sagan. Pretty much the Mr. Roger's of atheists.
Atheists not believing in something is pure evil but all those pdfs in virtually every religion across the theological spectrum are swell guys.
When a zealot claims certain atheists are the most evil people in the world, I'm like "Until of course someone brings up Austrian or Georgian Moustache Man"
Most of them will then try to "save face" by saying that they're the most evil of the "atheists"
Isn't it common that a lot of those folks love the party of the Austrian Moustache Man but don't want to outright say it because it's unpopular to say? Like if you call them outright on it, they'll say "No I'm doesn't! I don't like that guy and his moustache!" then proceed to continue their rhetoric with the serial numbers filed off...
He got his "6 types of atheist" from an article by an apologist. Probably a lot of the critique too.
Clearly not from an atheist :p Im an atheist and ive watched startrek and ive seen evil people like him in that series....too convinced by a book...fanatically so. There also were some in Babylon 5 unaliving their kid becouse of religion but nooo that were so bad they removed that episode.
How does one go about hating something that he/she doesn't believe exists?
well you can hate or dislike a concept of a thing regardless of its existence, concepts and ideas while not tangible or "real" can have affects on the world as they can dictate ones thinking, if someone accredits them selves to be better then another for no reason other then they believe in an idea that cant be proven true.

Oh yeah, and you got the Creationists saying that the eye couldn't have developed without all the parts working together... and then you get cases where yeah, the parts don't exactly work together which leads to stuff like blindness or blurry vision... you'd think someone at the eye factory wouldn't ship out faulty parts...
Never been so early to a video. My word.
The primary reason why most atheists in the Western world focus so much on Christianity is the fact that Christianity is the religion we have to deal with the most by far. If I were being proselytized to by Muslims or Hindus etc, then I would have more focus on them. The thing is that rarely if ever happens.
