You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
What a beauty! I actually built mine using half laps like that too. I must say it was very refreshing to see a woodworker use the space between their ears when it came to installing the drawer slides “on the flat” as you say. TY. Love your vids
I don't think I've seen anyone else use the pre-drilled holes for the drawer pulls as a way to fasten the drawer fronts. Awesome idea! Makes it easier to get those lined up and fasten from the inside.
This actually turned out to be a perfect solution for a beefy table for my up and coming cnc. I modified the dimensions to be 48x72 with a torsion box top. I ended up building mine from some reclaimed 12mm ply from work glued into 8 layers to make the thickness. You are not kidding by saying you could park a truck on this thing.
I admire people who take pride in the look and style of their shop. Many people claim “it’s just a workshop” or “it’s just a workbench that’s going to be abused”. Well, yes. But if your going to take the time to make something anyway, why not use it to get more practice and make it nice, functional, and appealing to the eye. I personally think if your shop is an atmosphere that you love being surrounded by and being in, you’ll want to work in it more often. Nice job, but I would hate to see the bill for all that maple.😂
John, I just completed this build a few days back. Followed everything exactly as laid out in the plans and I couldn't be happier with the results. I only made one adjustment, instead of using black edge banding on the shelves I capped the edge with a piece of oak and cut in a small rabbet lip for the shelf to sit on so the weight placed on the shelves will be harder to warp the shelving material over time. Thanks, I love your channel. On to building your miter saw station next!
1. I like how you made room for your tool cart. 2. I like how there is space behind the guides to add stuff to the wall as in a French cleat system. 3. Love the video
Why don't you have more subscribers than you do?!?! I love the channel, John. Probably said that before, but your attention to detail and the cleanliness of your work is what keeps bringing me back. Always looking forward to the next video. Thanks for sharing your love of woodworking!
A really nice-size, solid table for the SawStop. This is the same saw I have and I've been checking out a lot of projects for ideas. I like the dimensions of your table a lot, and the way you built it. You use a lot of Norm Abram-style techniques in the build that give this table a ton of strength and functionality. The sandwich top with replaceable surface, for example, and the strong lap joints. The lap joints lend themselves to fabrication with stacked dimensional lumber rather than thick hardwood stock, which would save cost, but the maple does look beautiful. The drawers look great too. If you wanted to, you could always double up the edge banding to build up the width of the tabletop to match the saw width, but it's purely cosmetic. Thanks for sharing the build.
Absolutely beautiful, this video was exactly what I was looking for. I plan on using something similar in my garage, and as a novice, I need all the help I can get. Thank you very much!
For those of us working out of smallish garage settings, sinking a router plate in an outfeed table like yours so it can do double duty as a router table is also a terrific use of space. My shop is so small I actually built an extended wing for my saw to the right of the blade and dropped the router plate into it. When the router isn't in use, I have a plug that replaces the plate and leaves me with a flat surface to work with. Hopefully some day I'll have space for a real outfeed table.
Finally! Something i might realistically be able to build. I DO have a dado stack, played with it once. Not pretty. Since then, I've done some research and determined a number of mistakes I made. Ready to try again. I like that there is actual mechanical interplay of wood between legs and cross-members, without insane complexity. Simple! Never would have thought of that on my own. Will not add shelves or drawers for now-- just need outfeed and assembly platform. WILL add the bottom platform for stability and stowage. Great build! Thanks!
@@JohnBuildsIt Question: your plans suggest 44"X68'', I'm thinking about 48"X96". Should I make an extra set of center legs, and space them all accordingly?
I have seen a lot of outfeed table builds on YT and I think this might be my favorite. I think I finally found the one I’m going to build. Thanks for the great vid!
Hey. After a few weeks of looking for an outfeed table build I came across this one. It totally fits my needs and I had no hesitating in buying your plans. I was really surprised at the price. Great value. Many thanks.
That has to be the sweetest looking bottom shelf I've ever seen ;) And the tip on the temporary cleat to position the divider while driving pocket-hole screws... worth the watch all on its own!
Nice out feed table. Just in the finishing stage on your bedroom set build. My Brad nailer bit the dust and bought the Milwaukee cordless…heavy but works flawlessly.. now it’s time for the Graco’s out of the box experience! Keep ‘em coming
Great video John! I'm brand new to woodworking and in desperate need of a workbench. I've watched what seems like hundreds of workbench build videos and yours is by far the best for someone like me. I don't have much in the way of tools.... I have a sixty year old table saw, a circular saw, a drill and a few clamps. Nevertheless, I'm certain I can build your bench because you took the time to explain everything step by step. Of course I won't be using rough sawn maple because I have no way to mill it down. I will probably be using soft wood from a big box store, but maybe I can trim it with some hardwood and make it look nice. Yours is just beautiful and so incredibly stout. Thank you for the inspiration.
so glad I stumbled on this video. what you did with the leveling feet and retractable wheels is exactly what I was trying to figure out. And while I'm at it, I may completely take your workbench idea. it fits my small shop perfectly. Thanks.
Timely recommendation from RUclips to put this video on my feed. Spent most of the day working on plans for my out feed table, and the feet + wheels situation was something i needed to source. Subbed and looking forward to watching through your catalogue!

This is a great guild. I’ll have to remember this. I’m putting off building an outfeed table because I want to upgrade my saw to a sawstop. But I still learned a lot in this video.
Love the build. I have ordered a SawStop Contractor Saw with 36" T Glide Rail and waiting for that to arrive. I have been searching for an outfeed table to build and yours seems to fit what I want and doesn't seem as complicated as some of the other videos I have watched. I have purchased the Kreg 720 Pocket Hole Jig already so looking forward to trying that out. I think I will change the top so it is a bit more hardy to something like formply and seems more readily available and you can get that in bigger sheets. I am also looking to build a workbench as well. I was looking at the CNC table you built for that. I am in Australia you have such lovely wood over there so will have to source the supplies over here.
Thanks for making this one. I only have a circular and jig saw, but if I can build a workbench thats half as nice as this, I'll be able to justify a miter and table saw.

Probably my favorite looking outfeed table so far, and it's about the same size as my current one I've been wanting to replace. I will have to build one similar once I can source some good lumber for the frame.
Stunning, John. Simply stunning. You have made some beautiful furniture in the past and even built out a beautiful home. It just seems fitting that you'd build shop furniture with the same attention to detail. I plan on building a bench/outfeed/assembly table about this size. I also plan on using 4x4's for the legs and 2x4s for the rails. My plan though is to use castle joints on top of all 6 legs. Might be overkill but I like the idea of letting the wood bear all the weight, just like with your half-laps.
Very nice solid build. Good looking cabinet. It’s so nice to see a RUclipsr using dado blades. Everyone says I don’t feel like putting it on, I’ll just nibble it out.

Finishing this build up. Anyway to attach the plywood to the melamine without using so many screws? I was thinking of adding some dog holes or t-tracks and don’t want to run in to them.
Jason's work is amazing but seems less accessible to build for amateurs. I really like the simplicity of John's videos and his instruction. The tip about nailing the strip behind the board when using pocket screws I found insightful.
@@plasmac9 totally agree about the board tip when using pocket hole screws. They always nudge just a touch, but that little bit can put everything out of square.
That is really well done… Thank you for sharing. One thing you may want to consider is putting a vertical panel - on drawer slides or a track - in between your saw and the table… In that hard to reach spot… so you can just pull out the panel instead of trying to reach in - behind the saw - to store items, such as blades or jigs. Thank you again for sharing. Best to you and yours/happy Thanksgiving.
If you're anything like me, you need to FILL that outfeed table with drawers for offcuts. lol (Of course, I'm the guy who built a nice outfeed table with nothing but a big open space underneath and lays everything on the bottom shelf in an unorganized mess ... I'll get to the drawers someday. lol) But that's really nice looking table, John! Everything you do is nothing but quality. How you don't have a 10x the subscribers is beyond me.
I burn more little scraps than I should haha but having this little spot is going to be a great way to force me to save more and make some cutting boards or something!
That came out sooo good. Great idea about the wheels. I built my small workbench earlier this year, but wish I had seen your video first. The castor and mounting plate idea is gold. Also, I have been avoiding making the groves in my outfeed table so it was great seeing you do it.
I think this project would work well for guy setting up a new shop. Starting with a table saw, build the outfeed table, then incorporate a router lift into the table and some t-track to add a router fence.....that would provide a great start to the shop and would be an ideal setup from which to get going on your shop cabinets. A guy could get a LOT of work done with a table saw, router and a few basic hand tools.

Thanks John. Looks good. I thought I heard you say plans can be found somewhere. I cant find them
Beautiful Table. I really like it. Thumbs Up
Thank you!!
Awesome table! Great design and build. How is the Makita track saw? Thank you.
I primarily use the new Milwaukee tracksaw now but the Makita is still a great saw!
Great video. Thank you for posting!
Thanks for watching!!
Good idea! I need to get my dust collection hard piping done back there first so I can finish it out!
Great build. I'm more convinced by that bora table though lol. Didn't know that existed. Gotta get me one
You’ll love it!
If you're anything like me, you need to FILL that outfeed table with drawers for offcuts. lol (Of course, I'm the guy who built a nice outfeed table with nothing but a big open space underneath and lays everything on the bottom shelf in an unorganized mess ... I'll get to the drawers someday. lol)
But that's really nice looking table, John! Everything you do is nothing but quality. How you don't have a 10x the subscribers is beyond me.
I burn more little scraps than I should haha but having this little spot is going to be a great way to force me to save more and make some cutting boards or something!
That is a very, very nice bench. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
That came out sooo good. Great idea about the wheels. I built my small workbench earlier this year, but wish I had seen your video first. The castor and mounting plate idea is gold. Also, I have been avoiding making the groves in my outfeed table so it was great seeing you do it.
It is kind of a shame to take a router to a nice brand new work top huh! Haha
@@JohnBuildsIt You got it!
Very nice! You are so talented! 😊
Bought the plans this morning!
Thank you!!
I LOVE a good solid outfeed table! Nice work!
Thank you! This thing sure is stout!
That is one beautiful outfeed table.
Form and function! Thanks for watching!!
That’s a really nice build. It would be great if you shared a breakdown of the cost to build these sorts of projects 😊
I should! I’ll keep that in mind in the future
Nice build John. That Maple and Black Melamine look sharp together. Enjoy your new Sawstop too!
Thanks Joe!!
Absolutely!!
At some point I will be re-designing my shop and an outfeed table is definitely on the list. Thanks for the video.
It’s sooo nice to have a legit, level outfeed table now!
Very nice work! Clean!
Thank you!
Dang nice joints!!! I’ve never been a big fan of the attempting them, but jeepers…. 🤔. Great casters.
Really nice work over all. 👍👍😉😉
