thanks for the great series showing how you went about rating boats against your personal preferences. watching the process and listening to every walk-through was very educational. I suggest that anyone getting ready to buy a boat watch the entire series so they can do something similar with the boats they are considering. Have a great day!
Thanks for the journey through the wide variation of features available on today's generation of bass boats. With the high level of personal customization combined with the variety of manufacturer's it is possible to find a boat that meets your needs and dreams with a carefully thought out plan. Have a great day!
Have been in several BassCats but not a Lynx. Super nice boat. I can tell by how much time Ken is taking to look at every detail that he is very interested just like I am! I need to watch this one again already Lol
Steven I've been a ranger fan until they went to being a over price nitro.. now I love the cat but but I wish and u hear me say this once take the cat bull lay the nitro top with the old ranger quality... why go watch Edwin video on new nitro layout freaking great but but its a nitro and I love my back to much but cat over all is best so far
@@captainron3494 every boat has its trade offs. I do like the Nitro layout but I feel (as do most cat owners) that the quality of the Bass Cat top to bottom cannot be beat...... not to mention their customer service is second to none!
Could not have picked a better guy Ken to give you a fair and honest review of this boat. We all have likes and dislikes and each model boat manufacturers make can be night vs. day from one against the other. This boat fits that example ... especially in comparison to your earlier review of the Puma 203 Hybrid. They are 2 different animals.
Ken, Balzout does have a dual display mount, vertically stacked, on the same base. It's not on their website, but I contacted them and they already had the configuration done. I'll send you a pic of the mount I did for Garmins on my Champion last year. Thanks a bunch for all the videos...you've done a terrific job with this.
Love seeing videos like these.. I own a Lynx, absolutely Love it. A few things I noticed though, is the difference between this boat and mine. And you have to realize there are a lot of things you can customize with BassCats. Your complaint about power outlets, I have 4 in my boat - 1 on the Diver Console, 1 under the Driver Console, 1 on the Passenger gunnel and finally one in the removable Passenger Console. But I also have the full decked out Stereo system in it too. The Front Deck is amazing, just amazing. I came From a 95 Pantera Classic and I have young kids and let me tell you, they want to squeeze right up front with me. There is so much room for them to do so and we both can cast. Couldn't do that in any other boat. I do have to admit it took a minute to get used to how far forward the trolling motor pedal is and I had my reservations. Was scared about ending up in the drink. But this boat is so so stable its' not even funny. I fish big water, Potomac River, Chesapeake Bay, Lake Ontario and a Few other Big water Lakes in Ontario. But that forward pedal really gives you more ability to be able to flip, roll cast and just plain casting trying to get into tight spaces. You will not be disappointed, not one bit.
The lynx is a great boat had mine for 2 years now, getting ready to get another. Also I run dual 12’s up front only issue is that you have to lower them when u want to put the cover on.
I have enjoyed all of the videos on all the boats. I run 2013 puma and a 2020 lynx 300 on different lakes so I was glad you got to do the lynx. My lynx has the removable dual console. You will love the layout. I run the tm peddle in the back position. I ordered mine with the radio and that option adds a ram mount phone holder and separate usb below the dash on starboard side. Looking forward to the scoring part 2. Feel the rush, you know you want to. Call Andrew at Ross and he will fix you up. Thanks again and good luck in your search.
One thing I noticed about the ballistic is that it is so lite that in rough water it doesn’t handle like heavier boats with performance like bass cat and phoenix.
It is about 1300 pounds. My 18 foot Bass Cat Sabre is the same weight. A boat that is light will not handle very well in some waters because it will bounce compared to a boat that has a little more weight. Now that you own a Bass Cat, you should know that typically they are as heavy, if not heavier than some boats, but have great performance And ride. That ride comes from more weight. I don’t believe in some cases the ballistic would ride very well being a 22 foot boat and that light. Not far from an aluminum boat.
I stand a little corrected. I was told by my friend with a 223 that the boat was about 1400, but from their site it says about 1600. I do know you did a video where Rick mentioned that they were one of the fastest boats but were the heaviest. My point is that light and fast only works on great days and that doesn't help with running with some speed in a lake like Conroe with the bath tube affect. I just think these boats are more sporty and will not handle all the water as well as other boats. When i rode in one it got way more bouncy than a cougar I rode in this past spring. Fact is you really have to test on the same day same weather, but I get the feeling that ballist is light to get the speed. anyway I appreciate most of your videos and the work you do.
You had a concern about mounting 2 graphs on the front deck. Run a search on the BCB forum and you’ll see that you can easily fit dual graphs on a Lynx. John Crews fits dual units on an Eyra which has way less space. Crews may even have 3 units on the front deck this year. Bass Boat Technologies and Balzout offer options to stack these units.
Eddie I have a brand new bracket from Bass Boat Technologies, I think only Takahiro and I have them for the Lynx, it stagger stacks them and also allows you slide the graphs left to right, video on it soon
If you reviewed a Jaguar you’d be impressed. It’s the Big Water Boat!!! At 22ft goes mid 70’s loaded with a 250. The layout is smarter and bigger. Best boat for Rayburn and Toledo!!!!
Hey Ken don’t know if it’s been mentioned but BBT makes a specialty mount just for the bow of a Lynx once the tm pedal has been moved back. Also Hank Cherry just posted a day or so ago of a new dual mount that BBT has developed for dual mounts on the bow of a cat.
I think Bass Boat Technologies makes a really good mount to run duals on a Bass Cat. You are in Texas but you could call Horizon Trike and Marine close to Dardanelle, AR. They could give you a list of good mounts to look at to run duals on the Cat's.
From a big and tall guy perspective the Skeeters and Bass Cats have the best seats. I liked the layout of the Phoenix but the seats don’t work for me although others like them. Love the layout on the new Skeeter FXR but think Bass Cat has the edge in overall quality. Bass Cat seems to sometimes change things just to be different but not necessarily better especially concerning front deck layout. I do like that you can pick your own colors for the Cat. I don’t find any of Skeeters current color options that appealing but of course thats personal preference. Can’t wait to see the on the water review.
Once again great review Ken. I think Basscat makes a great boat, but the thing I don’t like is if there is a space to put something no matter how small they will put in a small storage or cup holder. Do you really need a cup holder in front of the console. There is 7 cup holders on that boat. How many does a bass bot need? And the top caps on their boat have so many contours. It’s just not a clean smooth look. And the left/ right fuel tank switch is in the splash well, not very convenient when running down the lake.
Weight sensitive boat.I purchased a 2020 lynx with a 300 XS it is now for sale. Boat quality is good haul design not so good.that is why there pro staff went back to an Eyra . Wish I purchased a different model Cugar,Puma Or Eyra. Drive the lynx with 100lbs of Rod’s and tackle in the front compartments and you will see the boat under performs. I would still recommend bass cat but if changes are not to get bow lift I would not recommend this model
@@KenSmithFishing Thank you for your reply Ken. I've owned other boats and never experienced this issue. Doesn't the shape and angle of that center rod box door make it a pain to lay your rods out, especially on the starboard side? Never mind with a second console! Would seem better if it hinged up front and lifted forward, but the super wide shape at the back probably makes that unfeasible also.
Ken I want you to count the bolts holding the jack plate to the transom. And then count ALL the other boat brands. Let me know what you come up with. Guarantee you are going to be shocked you e never thought of this. Put it in your next video.
Harvey that’s hard to say and varies to some degree where you are. Historically I would have said Ranger, but I think we are seeing that fall off. Cats certainly retain their value, as do some of the specialty boats (Allison, Bullet) but to some degree that’s because they don’t build a lot and they have cult like followings.
