Nice to hear a Euphonium accompanying a French Horn.
Or, just another case of the euphonium playing the horn cues!
Even better, an Euphonium in tune
That's why I play both!
Yes, I do enjoy this spirited performance! Who needs the orchestra?
Schön musiziert! Nur frage ich mich, ob statt der Trompete nicht ein Flügelhorn sinnvoller gewesen wäre.. dann wäre man in der Hornfamilie geblieben. 😉
it's nice to hear the delicate dynamics of these horns without having to compete with the rest of the orchestra...
fff < ffff > ff < ffffff
Aye. I do agree. Quite a Treat!
My gf played - Fr. Horn
My sister - the Cornet
Old boss - Euphonium

The euphonium definitely has a good sound.
Warms my heart on a frozen day
The fullness of harmonics of the Horn and Euphonium combined makes the trio sound like a larger setup.... Bravissimo!
Exactly what I was thinking! So beautiful..
Maybe a tuba in there would’ve been better
Fantastic,wonderful cotton sound.
Braviiii Bravisimooo🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
@@Aduysvmncmkouyf tuba might be too "thumpy"
So true. However it also shows Mozart's genius to express complex musical ideas in forms that can be simplified.
What fun. Beautifully played by all. Understated and clean. She is bringing attention to the beauty of the horn and, I am sure, is an inspration for many young women horn players. She is the best hire for the Berlin in 100 years!
She is an inspiration to ANY young horn player. And is one a student should spend some time listening to.
I'm amazed that this could be arranged so well for 3 voices. The performance is fantastic, but I'm even more impressed by the arranging talent.
as I was listening to this I was imagining one of your analyses, seeing the themes highlighted in the different staves as they pass from instrument to instrument! I love the harmonies in this one, how they are tied together with the most beautiful and creative phrases. It is woven together so well.
Isn’t it lovely!
Thank you sir!
@@davis-editions Is this your arrangement? If so, first, it is just fantastic. Secondly, is it available for purchase? Our family has a horn/trumpet/trombone trio (those runs that the euphonium throws off so casually my be a challenge...) and we would love to play it!
Yes this is fantastic. But listen to the arrangement for one "voice" and piano by Flanders and Swann at ruclips.net/video/bkYrj2DQlVc/видео.html
An old favourite but better I was able to sing the Flanders and Swann 'Ill wind' to it, enjoying meself enormously (sorry, rest of the family). Loved the music, thank you.
Flanders and Swann would be delighted.
Never heard this piece arranged for this combination of instruments..nice!!
Just three musicians with solo horn😯 It was unusual. Great👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
SURPRUB!!!! BARVO, BRAVO!!! LOVE THE FRENCH HORN!!
If Mozart was still around he’d be laughing historically - I mean hysterically - a YUUUGE compliment! Sweet piece.
I agree!
He would be asking what happened to the frasing. It sounds like midi. Great horn playing but really no feel.
@@grelusradu someone has no idea about music.
@@Poulenc definetely me.
@@grelusradu your Debussy Rhapsody is pretty cool though.
Fantastic arrangement and fantastic performance. Brava and bravo! Who needs an orchestra?!?
If only I could get the Flanders and Swann version out of my head.
Oh that's lovely! What a treat! Some of the best brass playing I've ever heard. Thank you.
Fantastic!
Fabulous.
Excellent! Bravo and cheers from -12F in Chicago
Sarah Willis you are the best!
Bravo. What an arrangement and performance. wow!
Sarah, we love yooooouuuuuu! ❤
I love euphonium and french horn. If Tamas could have played his part on flugelhorn, it would have been so sweet!
Congratulations to all of you for taking on a full orchestra composition with a trio.
Stunning! thank you!
One of the best examples of this ever. When in high school in the 1960's I listened to the Dennis Brain version so many times I wore out the record. So that tends to be my point of reference. Sarah Willis is displaying a similar "lightness", almost playfulness, in style here. Not trying to play over the other instruments, but with them. So many others play it in a heavy handed manner. That was also a pretty amazing arrangement for just three instruments where it sounded like there were twice that many. I already know that Sarah Willis is a horn player to pay attention to. This just underscores that.
Yes. 1960s, Dennis Brain -- my point of reference too (1956 to be exact)! And yes, Willis does share in his lightness.
Saying it another way, she is one of the very few who manage to play the horn with a "tee-tee-tee" effect instead of the "twAH-twAH-twAH" that so many -- even several of today's best-known soloists --- seem to think is the "normal" horn sound.
Sarah Willis achieves a luminous, weightless freedom of tone the like of which I haven’t heard before. One of my favorite pieces, and now my favorite performance.
Soothes my soul, great to hear just before bedtime
EXCELLENT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wunderschön! Danke sehr an alle drei Musiker.
A piece of music to be enjoyed and all three looked as if they were enjoying playing it.
Thank you for this video.
You never miss the orchestra!
Boy, that was awesome. Polished art at it's highest level. So good.
Beautiful to hear such a delightful version of this difficult piece!
Such beautiful balance between the instruments.
Absolutely outstanding Bravo 🎺🎶🎺🎶👏👏
Three musicians have a very good sense of music, and their coordination is meticulous, wonderful, and charming.
Wonderful. Thanks to all of you! Such a fun piece to play.
whenever I hear this concerto I think of Dennis Brain whose playing still reigns supreme in terms of sheer smoothness and mellifluous beauty.
Dennis Brain was like no other recording with Philharmonia and von Karajan conducting.
Thank you to Lt. Col. Sam Rhodes, my secondary school music teacher for introducing me to this piece 60 years ago. It made me want to play the French horn. Never happened because my parents couldn't afford the instrument or the lessons. But now, thanks to RUclips I can listen to some great musicians playing the music I love. This is stunningly beautiful!
Stephen, save your pennys, I did and bought a trumpet. “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” It’s never too late to learn something new. In the words of a famous (or infamous) president,”Come on, man!” Let the good times roll! We’re not getting younger and think how many recitals we had to attend and endure. We can give our own. It’s payback time, baby! I’m 84y/o, we’re running out of time! Ed 🇺🇸
Wow, does this bring back some memories. 😊 I could almost feel the fingers on my left hand twitching reflexively to the notes.
Awesome 😎 I can't believe this piece is played only by trio!
i play all 3 of these instruments (and more) this was gorgeous!!!
Sarah Willis is a true French horn hero
A wonderful arrangement beautifully played.
To quote the composer in the origional score - "Go Loitgeb" - Ms
Willis!
When i get to Heaven I am going to learn how to play like this, even if it takes me ten thousand years!!!
Fabulous 🎉
Beautiful, I love Mozart.
Bravissima Sarah, very technique and smooth performance.
One of my very favourite pieces played beautifully, oh and the tone xxxxx🎶🎶🎶🎶
Brav! Absolutely beautiful, Thank you

I once had a whim and I had to obey it...to hear Sarah and chums so deliciously play this Concerto!
The best/most beautiful tones this morning/, Thanks/.
Just amazing. I had to sit again and listen to it for second time with my eyes close. Just awesome.
Truly lovely. I love the Mozart Horn Concertos.
Very nicely done -- a tight little arrangement. Brings back all the memories of the first time I heard Dennis Brain play this very movement on a 78 r.p.m. in my parents basement 55 tears ago. He played with the Philharmonia and von Karajan conducted.
WooHoo! What a nice arrangement and effortless-looking performance.
Beautiful!!!
soo beautiful harmonics!, thank you
Simply gorgeous and so joyful. Loved it. So nice to hear/see something in the Kammermusiksaal!
Bravo love this performance.
Nice arrangement to accompany the Horn.
Really really well done!!! Thank You!
That was beautiful, thanks for uploading. :)
What a fantastic arrangement! And so beautifully played by all!
So good. Love this concerto and this arrangement is just outstanding.
Amazing but can't get Flanders & Swan version out of my head!
Wonderful! You can hear Mozart's genius in a concentrated way.
The French Horn is such a beautiful instrument that I miss playing dearly. I was very good in high school and quickly moving toward playing horn as a career. Unfortunately, the top band required marching during football season and I was no good at that and did not excel. One day after marching, a fellow horn player pulled a knife on me and threatened me to march better. I quit band that day and feel like my future and passion was ripped out of my soul. I haven't touched a French Horn since, but I do hope to play again one day...now that I am 30 years passed that asault. This is beautiful music that I wish I could have been a part of.
excellent
Beautifully payed Sarah. Absolutely flawless performance. Never heard it played with such a gorgeous full rich yet focussed tone. Salut! Great arrangement too and lovely playing by your colleagues. Great stuff !
Must be her Alex 103 ‼️DB recorded with an Alex single Bb💓‼️
Brilliant arrangement and so much instrumental talent. Thank you Sarah and the guys.
Grande Sarah! Great musicians and...thank you Wofgang for ever!😊👍🎶🎵
Perfect
Sehr schön, wohltuend für die Seele!
БРАВО!!!
Herrlich ❤️❤️
I've loved this piece since I was a kid. This version is *very* nice indeed, those 3 instruments really do an excellent job of conveying the full thing. (I do *also* love the Flanders & Swann vocal parody of this piece :-) )
I'm a simple guy. I see Sarah Willis with a French horn in a thumbnail...I CLICK. Job well done to this trio :)
😊
So wonderful performance!!! Bravo!!! I am a big fan of Sarah Willis. She is one of the best Horn player in our time. Her sound is warm and so expressive.
Excellent performance
Delightful!
As a one time horn player with 8 years of play I am just in awe at the sound of this wonderful arrangement. Superb.
Was marvelous great arrangement excellent performance, joyfully and happy.
The French horn is one of my most favorite instruments to listen to!
Compelling arrangement! Hearing (& Seeing) Ms Willis always a pleasure
This is great! What a big sound for a trio! Love the arrangement.
Fantastic!!!!
Brilliant! Absolutely wonderful performance. Sarah Willis is a true genius on this extraordinarily difficult wind instrument. BRAVA!
Superb plus! What a joy to listen to One of the best
genius played by masters
Excellent interpretation and magistral arrangement!!!
Enchanting!
I can see only three people playing, but the fullness of the sound is at least quintet level.
Pure skill! Well done all three! Gorgeous music!
Excellent
Really enjoyed that. Prefer it to the orchestral version now, lovely blend of tones - and super performance too.
Utterly brilliant. Mozart is my favourite classical composer, and the Rondo is my all-time preferred listening choice. I was captivated by the delightful playing, especially the elegant, effortless, total mastery of the horn! What a pleasure. Of course, after listening to the piece, I immediately revisited the Flanders and Swann vocal version (I think entitled "An Ill Wind", if my memory serves me correctly). The Rondo, tempo-wise, is so similar to 6/8 jig-time, as exemplified by thousands of traditional Irish dance tunes, which (as a dedicated folk musician) particularly endears the Mozart piece to me.
Wow, was für eine tolle Musikerin........... Respekt
