Thanks Max. So true about how far we’ve come - I remember trying to do stuff like this on a Yamaha QY10 back in the day and being deeply disappointed 😄. We’re living in the future!

wow! I really love your universe! Beauty live performance from the Abyss
Thanks! I enjoyed your liveset on your channel, that MidiFighter 3D looks like loads of fun :D Love to see you do more vids with your 0-Coast, I have one and am thinking of doing a performance pairing it with the Syntakt.
Mate that was a real trip! You really are the waveform. Great use of the hardware making it look effortless but I know there needs to be so much understanding on every aspect of how the interface affects the sounds produced. Thanks for sharing this
Fred! Great see you buddy, thanks for the kind words. You’re right, there was a ton of exploring and prep to put this together, it’s such a good challenge limiting yourself to just one box. Hope you’re well! :)
After lots of procrastination and The Mad gods at American Musical Supply providing interest free 18 month financing on Elektron Gear. I am eagerly awaiting this beast. This is hands down the best performance I’ve seen of this machine. I’ve watched this countless times over the past year since discovering this madness.
@@ForecastGrim Thanks so much for the kind words! Congrats on your new beast, wishing you much inspiration and musical madness on it. This is still one of my fave instruments, I love it.
Thanks dude! You're right, it took a lot of restraint to keep it just Syntakt but I wanted to see what I could squeeze out of it 😄 Looking forward to pairing this up with my analogue and MPE gear for future videos. Loving all the modular tutorials on your channel btw, great stuff 👍
I just got a Syntakt, and I like it a lot. It makes me want to get more Elektron gear. The pads/buttons feel way different than I thought. This is inspiring to hear, and impressive. I own quite a few synths, so my main reason to get the Syntakt is percussion, but the synth engine holds it own. I'm trying to save up for a Prophet 10 right now, but it's tempting to get more Elektron gear. I would love to own them all. The OT MK2, AR MK2, and AF MK2, are at the top of my list. I'm curious to see what their next machine is going to be. I wonder if it's going to be a MK3 of one of their machines, or if it's going to be something completely new, like the Syntakt. I would like to try their Analog Heat, but they're kind of expensive, for what they are. I know people love them, so I may end up getting one on the used market.
Hi, thanks! The buttons are very unique to Elektron aren't they - even as someone who loves expression, MPE and aftertouch, I'm totally addicted to how chunky and clacky they are! It's like making music with a Commodore Amiga :D I'm very tempted by the Octatrack but all the vids I've seen make me think it'll feel over complicated and less fluid than the Syntakt, so I'm hanging on for a Mk 3. I have friends who swear by the Heat and personally I always use hardware saturators for recording. This one passed through my usual chain of a LTLO Silver Bullet and Overstayer Modular Channel for a little extra warmth and girth :)
It would be hard to live without overbridge once you get used to it. And OT don’t have it and never will have it. I hope they are cooking MK3. And the new special edition of Digitakt and the fact that inventories got empty lately got me thinking, they are clearing out the inventory. For something new, I hope:)
Haha thanks Rob! For what it’s worth it took a lot of practice and takes to get a performance I liked - especially because there are a lot of free running LFOs so it comes out different every time. I always try to keep my channels consistent so they’re performing the same roles in each song, which helps with muscle memory :)
@@owzleee Lol, I’ve definitely lost a few snares! 😂. My general scheme now is: 1: BD/bass or toms | 2: Snare | 3: Clap | 4: High Hat | 5: Bass or lead | 6: Chord Machine | 7&8 varies per song, sometimes controlling external hardware | 9: analogue BD | 10: analogue Snare | 11: analogue bass or lead | 12: whatever the hell I can get out of it, something as close to a riser or a crash as possible! The nice thing for me is how the drums are all grouped logically so there’s less cognitive faffing :)
Haha, wow thanks Dan, very generous of you! Kudos for your amazing soundtrack on that movie, captured the mood perfectly :) I hope you and Phil do more together!
@@tonymarrison Glad you liked the score! My workflow is so sprawling I covet something compact like a Syntakt or a Deluge. They can be quite expressive, as you demonstrate so well here. ...me & phil have plans. i'm hoping they take less than 30 years. Cheers
Thank you! Back in another life I did used to get paid for it, but hit the brakes to focus on just making music I wanted to hear myself. For now I'm going to make more videos, and If there's enough appetite for it maybe I will get out there again one day :)
All I can say is wow! Looking to see if Syntakt is going to be more than just an automated external processor/midi sequencer for me and holy crap I run into this. Not heard of anything close to this save Ivar Tryti, keep it up and those 208 subscribers will ratchet up mark my words.
Thanks Mark! Sure, happy to share it, hit me up through the contact page on www.kamelnitrate.com and I'll send you the MIDI file. A lot of the performance is done live but the basic sounds and patterns are there. If anyone's interested I might try adding a subtitle track explaining what all the knob moves are doing, it's not obvious even when you know a bit about Elektron :)
@@X-B369SK Thanks! I had the Digitakt but sold it after a while - the sampling never really gelled for me but I loved the sequencer. This box feels very complete for me, you can make full tracks without touching a computer and being able to use that amazing sequencer on external gear is the icing on the cake :)
Thanks Diego! I'm a huge fan of your work - anyone reading this who loves deep, epic ambience with a touch of chaos, do yourselves a favour and check out Diego's channel :)
🎸 really like this ambient style groove, is the first drone we hear that has a slow LFO moving it a sine wave? I have the MPC x and I think this would compliment it, complete it,
Thanks! The drone is a Syntakt analogue drum voice set to BD FM, and the slow LFO you're hearing is sweeping the FM amount (with another slow LFO sweeping the filter frequency at a different rate). I don't know about the MPC but I got this to complement my current analogue setup (Matriarch, DFAM, 0-Coast) so I could make more complete music without turning the Mac on :)
@@meshuggih700 Haha, busted :D Although I’ve mainly moved to Osmose now, works better for my playing. I’ve been thinking about doing a little vid with Seaboard M squishy keys + Syntakt though, might be good…
@@ForecastGrim Hi there, pretty much all of these sounds got tweaked in some way, especially the "Mad God" sound in the intro and the solo sound. Most of them have some LFO's creating tiny variations too. There are some great stock sounds to start from though and even though there are only 8 parameters you can get a surprising amount of variety from them. I'd say this is a perfect intro to the Elektron ecosystem - a lot of people describe it as a "best of" box taking all the best bits from other Elektron products. And the sequencer is legendary for good reason. You'll definitely have fun with it :)
not enough musicians take us on a journey anymore. this is great!
Couldn’t agree more, I love music that takes you somewhere! Thanks :)
Wow! Best Syntakt performance I have seen so far!
Thanks Lorenz! Stay tuned for more :)
Congratulations! This is by far the best live track I've heard on a single piece of hardware.
Thanks Marcel, very generous!
I practically had an out of body experience tripping on headphones with this one. what a trip!
Haha love that zlimvos, thanks! :)
Wow, that was amazing. Such a beautiful blend of spiritual and technological vibes!
Thanks Erick!
Surprising trumpet solo! 3:40 is fire.
So good, I keeping coming back to this every few weeks, love the various textures.
So good! Hands-on performance is always more interesting than a meticulously constructed studio track for me at least.
Great track, you really make the most of this synth
Thanks Henning! It really is a rich playground :)
Brilliant mastery of the hardware - loved every second of that!
Thanks Paul!
Wow, this left me speechless! Well done!
I've yet to hear the "light" side of Syntakt. All the sounds seem pretty dark
Very true - maybe because the filter and drive are satisfyingly fattening!
Yes and it's great!!!! Daaaaaarknessssss
Great use of the syntakt ! Thanks for this video, I hope we'll see more.
Thanks Kevin! I’ve got a couple more ideas I’d like to try for the Syntakt :)
