    As someone who has served in combat with a group of 10 guys where half of them had 10.3 ris 2 mk18’s and the other half had 11.5 mlock urgi’s, here’s what happened to the mk18 guys.
    As soon as the urgi guys came on board, every one of the mk18 guys had their rifles jam up on them. There’s just something about being in the presence of a superior rifle that caused the other ones to fall apart. When in the field, we noticed that right at the hour mark, all to the guys with the mk18 had their arms fall off due to the overwhelming and strenuous weight of having a rifle that was a couple ounces heavier and had to be medevacked from the field while the urgi guys kept going. We also noticed that any engagement past 200 yards, the urgi guys would still get kills but anyone carrying an mk18 would have their bullets bounce of their enemies like airsoft bb’s due to such a drastic reduction in velocity between the two platforms. Also, all of the mk18 guys contracted AIDS from their rifles.
    So yes, the 11.5 urgi is not just a minor improvement over the mk18 where at the end of the day the skill of the one using the weapon is what matters most, it is a groundbreaking, massive leap in technology where if you don’t upgrade from your mk18 to the urgi, you will die every time in combat if you go up against someone who has one due to the massive and overwhelming leap of technology that shaving a couple ounces and gaining a tiny bit of muzzle velocity can bring.

    After DD lowered the port size to a 0.70 from the original 0.82, you could then run a standard carbine buffer, and not only does it function, it isn't over gassed, and is very pleasant to shoot. It actually has SOME relevancy left in the tank

    I run a drop-in Bootleg Gas Adjustable BCG and the Radian Raptor SD CH in my MK18. Gas blowback is reduced greatly. The Bootleg Gas Adjustable BCG has 4 presets and the switch is accessible from the ejection port with any common screwdriver type tool. I use all 4 settings depending on ammo and with/without suppressor can on. As the gun get's dirtier, you generally need to open up the BCG port a bit more. I keep my adjustment tool in the grip storage and a spare in other pouches.

    Keep in mind that while the RIS3 is very solid and feels great, it is way overbuilt and barely lighter than the RIS2. So if you prefer a quad rail, it doesn’t really matter because even the 12“ version is only about 1oz lighter than the R2 whereas the longer 13.5 MFR mlok handguard is about 6 or 7 oz lighter than the 12“ RIS M4

    An adjustable gas block would help with the gas too(which im sure you already thought of). Ive got the Superlative Arms one and i love it. Especially running my rifle suppressed, its a big help.

    • @Bisley1
      @Bisley1 8 дней назад

      My MK18 has ruined 3 different adjustable gas blocks. The last one just yesterday. Odin Works, Syrac Ordnance both completely seized up. The SLR cracked right through the top, where the gas tube is yesterday. The funny thing was, that I already have a new non adjustable gasblock handy, that I was going to replace this week😄 i was just testing two of my rifles after installing the A5 buffer system yesterday and am ordering another gasblock for the second rifle. Was going to replace both actually.
      I have 4 SLR gasblocks. 2 steel, 2 titanium. I had the most issues with the steel ones seizing up. But those were the ones i shot the most and 90% suppressed. I‘ve had them seizing up often and on one of them the little leaf spring plate once fell out with the detent, so the adjustment scree would back out and the rifle would stop cycling. The titanium ones work well and the adjustment screw perhaps doesn’t carbon lock as much because of the titanium, but i still don’t trust them enough. But I‘ll keep the titanium ones until they fail me, as they are installed in more recreacional fun gun builds. One of them is dedicated suppressed though.
      Long story short, my heavy duty guns are no longer getting adjustable gasblocks. The only ones I might still try are the superlative arms, just to give it a shot and the Riflespeed one which is the only current design that seems like I could trust it. I‘ll probably end up skipping the superlative and just go with the Riflespeed one last time before I fully dismiss the adjustable gasblock concept😄
      Currently considering a 12.5 build where I chop my DD lightweight midlength 14.5 barrel, so as to have a smaller gasport and then just mess with buffers and springs until it works and is reliable. Last resort would be opening up the gasport, if I find that it is undergassed

    If I were to get a short DD R3, I‘d go with the 11.5 instead of the 10.3“ and call it close enough for a semi mk18 inspired build. It’s great that DD offers it that way now! That being said, I can’t part with my 10.3 Mk18 because it’s just a classic but would stick to 11.5 in the future. Though I‘ll probably get the Geissele super duty next, because it comes with better parts and I don’t really need an ambi lower unless I can also lock the bolt back from the right side and not just release it.

    Interesting, I personally found that more people are going smaller instead of longer for their main squeeze. 11.5/12.5 generally with 13.7/13.9/14.5 p&w for legal reasons. Though I think if legal sbr issues aren’t a thing, 11.5/12.5s would be so common place. 16 inch guns may have never even been mainstream if it wasn’t the legal limit.

      @@gob7116 True, but at least a 14.5” p&w to 16” is to keep it as legally short as possible with a muzzle device. But 13.7” and 13.9” makes no sense as you’re chopping barrel length in exchange for muzzle device length-that’s a completely detrimental trade for absolutely no gain. Instead, you end up with a slight disadvantage.

    • @gob7116
      @gob7116 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@slister1911 IIRC, 13.7/13.9 was made with specific muzzle devices in mind. When p&w, it'll reach 16 too. 14.5 was the original barrel length anyways, then 16 is just the legal standard. While 14.5 p&w would hit 16 with almost any muzzle device, the concept stays the same with 13.7 and 13.9, just with a limited selection of muzzle devices

They used Reems of paper, the faster moving 18" and 16" fragmented in 3 Reems , the slower 11.5" didn't frag going through 4 Reems and still struck the target a ft behind, the slowest moving 10.3" didn't frag and didn't go through four Reems . It's amazing how much velocity drop off there was with only 1" difference. From 3150 +/- to 2500+/- fps.

      Not about being a sniper, but once u get past 100yds, that magnification gives you much more capability and precision... Which you very well might need.
      That being said, I think most fights will be 100yds and in, but with 1x ability on LPVO plus an offset red dot you have that covered in spades anyways.... But once u gotta hit an only partially exposed target at 150+ your gonna wish u had magnification... Even if only for PID...

    • @mrdark9916

      If your in an area like me, where u could easily have 500+yd sightlines, an LPVO makes a helluva lot of sense. As does a 14.5" barrel over a 10.3. just depends where ya live and what ya need man....

      @Mr Dark I can get all of that with a basic 3x or my 5x magnfier that is removable when I dont need it. It's lighter, less expensive with a eotech sight. It has none of the downsides of a LPVO. If you have to go to the offset red dot then it tells you the setup doesn't work for what you are trying to have it do, its slower to aquire targets, eye relief is worse and so on. LPVOs are a proven fad with their popularity going up and down based on youtubers reviewing their free test products. They are a decent option for thos who have serious land they need more information in the glass. 99% of people who own them bought them because it was cool, not actually practical

    I have a DD MK18 with the RIS II rail, it came with a H buffer which caused issues on my gun in classes where I shot more than 300 rounds. I have changed to an H2 buffer but have not run it in a class since. Running a Surefire Mini 2 on it, its gassy but a lot quieter than non suppressed. May look into the flow can for this gun. It is heavy with all the stuff I have on it but I would recommend it. Mostly running m193 ammo and can consistently hit a 300 yard c zone steel with a dot no magnifier.

    • @DZ4295DBW
      @DZ4295DBW 11 месяцев назад

      If running suppressed or FA, use an H2 buffer. Or just use an H2 buffer as is. Also make sure you're using quality ammo and not shit tier SteelCase stuff. Feed it with quality and you'll receive quality results.

      I understand that they were referring to the Ambi charging handle and safety as was I. When I purchased mine the were using non ambi charging handles and regular safeties along with Magpul stocks this was before they started outfitting their rifles with their DD furniture.

    Anyone wanting to stock on some 77 BTHP ammo I'd highly suggest looking into aac or imi brand. Awesome prices and work pretty damn good too. I've had really good luck with them with accuracy and lethality, my go to rig is a 13.7.

    • @mrdark9916
      @mrdark9916 Год назад +1

      I haven't been all that impressed with the AAC 77s. I've found them to be like 2-3MOA even out of 2 different Sub MOA capable rifles (14.5 Geissele Super Duty and an 11.5 Colt HRT) and my Brothers BCM 14.5
      My Geissele upper shoots 55gr PMC XTac like 1-1.25 MOA and those AACs like 2-2.5sh MOA. The 11.5 HRT is a little more similar at like 2moa with 193s and M855 and like 2.5 with the AACs.
      Both rifles shoot well within Sub MOA with 75gr Speer Gold Dots and 77gr Razorcore.
      I have 840rnd of 75gr Speer Gold Dots put aside for my "emergency loadout" gives me a full 7 mag loadout and a full 7 mag contingency loadout for each rifle.
      Then like 6-700 rnds of Razorcore for backup.
      ATM I'm sitting on like 1.5k wolf and 2.5k 193s and 1k M855 that I use for training and try to keep stocked. I might try the AACs again later mabey newer lots will be a bit better, but for now there's no reason for me to buy it when XTAC 55gr shoot better and are a few bucks a box cheaper

    • @mrdark9916
      @mrdark9916 Год назад

      Got like 300rnd left of the AACs imma blow through my next 2 range sessions (I try to do 150-200rnd a session) and then they are out of my life lol.
      All that being said, I still consider 2.5 MOA and better to be "combat accurate" but if I'm paying $3/box more than I'm getting 193s for, I expect the ammo to be MOA frankly, otherwise I just pay another $2/box and get something better since I don't shoot them all that much. And the Gold Dots do much better against barriers like auto glass ect than an OTM load anyways which I deem very important in an urban area

    • @tylertapp131
      @tylertapp131 Год назад

      @@mrdark9916 Good shit. And I hear what you're sayin, I only mention aac and imi due to prices mostly because of what was said in the video about cost. I dont have nearly as much time with aac brand as imi and even less when it comes to the pmc xtac stuff. That's actually very good for the money I mostly shoot xtac 62s and stock more of it then anything for emergency shit. Only probably have 400 rounds of 77s but as far as plinking and practice rounds mabey like 4 or 5k of steel. I havent heard many guys I know personally, test any of the aac or imi 77s, and they all run the bcm, giessle, sons of liberty and one guy has a knights. They have the guns but dont get out as much as I do to test equipment and loads to see performance. I run a sons of liberty 13.7 set up for day and night use, suppressed and it's been my go to for a few years now. I've had very good luck with the imi 77s on coyotes and beavers but havent tested the aac 77s when out and something off topic but have had good luck with Winchester silvertip 64 grain ammo on deer, during season. I like flat range shooting on steel and paper, seein what rounds are capable of for practical accuracy and some distance but I'm no precision shooter. But I also like gettin out in kit and doin some property patrols and and other things too just to get more time with my rig and get more use to carryin my long gun in various conditions, rain, snow, hot or shine in the rural backwoods where I live. Plus hunting with it also gives me very good data on what my particular rig is doin with different ammo selections. Doesnt get more informative then puttin meat in the freezer and seein what ballistic performance a round does, plus blood trails if there is one. Only say if there is one, for times they dont drop on the spot. Sorry for ramblin so much brotha, thanks for your info very interesting to hear for sure and sounds you've definitely put in some time data collecting, good shit. Keep doin your thing and god bless from ole Carolina.
