Hey Britt, we from the 60’s and 70’s love that you’re digging on our music. And you’re so absolutely beautiful!❤

EASILY one of my favorite old school groups. Eddie LeVert and Walter Williams are a musical institution of 60 years of music that doesn’t receive 1/10th of the acclaim they deserve for everything they’ve endured: death of children, multiple sclerosis, COVID took a toll on Eddie. It’s a shame that folks will act like they’ve always loved them when they are gone..

And Britt, we are basically age peers but I’ve seen the O’Jays over the past decade in concert. Their final concerts were last year and seeing them one last time made me want to cry!

chancebrown106:. I don't know of any other group who has had two better lead singers than the O'Jays. They were so good that one did not feel he was better than the other vocally.

Philly sound - one of my faves - For The Love Of Money (biggest hit) and my fave Backstabbers (a former friend told me a nightclub manager always heard Black Stabbers - They smile in your face, everytime you want get in your place - the……).

The a lot of the beats that many soul singers were singing to were to the Philly sound many of them were Philly natives themselves and many weren’t, but that sound is all Philly

I'm glad that I got to see the O'Jays, in concert ,in their prime!

I think the Ja Rule song uses an interpolation rather than a direct sample, but this is the song. That was the Murder Inc. formula at that time. And yes, Eddie Levert is the dad of Gerald and Sean. Now you gotta do Gerald and Eddie’s “Baby Hold Onto Me”

BrittReacts:. If you love the 70's music then it is yours as much as anyone who lived during that time. I am 62 and I love jazz music that was before my time, but I claim it as my own. Okay to the song you just reacted to. I've been waiting on more reactions to this song. There are not many reactions to it. The O'Jays have a large catalog of top hits that still need to be reacted to. Another O'jays song that I feel is sung in a similar manner to Cry Together is a song called "Your Body's Here With Me (But Your Mind's On The Other Side Of Town)". As you can tell by the title the subject matter of this song is different. I guarantee you will love it.
