I tried FOUR other ribbing tutorials before this one, but I kept somehow missing the correct back loops on my foundation rows. Did this tutorial and surprised myself by having 6 consistent stitches along the entire beanie! Haven't worked the body yet, but grateful for the ribbing tutorial just for that reason.
I found your channel recently and honestly, you're my favorite crocheter I've found so far! Your instructions are clear and easy to understand, I like your sense of humor and your voice is soothing :) Thanks to you, I've already mastered granny squares and have made my first beanie. I really want to try this beanie next. I would honestly love a cardigan in this style too!!!!! Thanks for teaching us!!!!
I love your site, your energy, (which my 75 yrs needs a boost sometimes,) I live alone and when I’m down you pick me up. Your instructions are excellent, your products and colors I find pleasing. Tunisian crochet is modern and easy. Thank you so much . I would buy things from your sites but I am quite poor. Thank you for being more than just a instruction site. You are much, much more than you know and I know this is not easy to produce. It looks so smooth and professional. I wish you every success and someday you will be extremely successful. It’s very cute that your husband is supportive and around some times. It’s not good these days to include your kids too much but I know you’ve got a full life. Thank you so much! I really appreciate you. You mean more than you can imagine. I’ll post some of the projects I’ve completed when I get the courage. Keep smiling.
I use buttons for my pompoms too, but I use the poms that have an elastic on them. Then I sew the button inside the hat, and then stretch the elastic over the button. Then all it takes is a hook or a bobby pin to help stretch the elastic back over the button. It works great for when I gift them, because then I can show people how to detach and reattach the pompom.
This is my first Tunisian project. I am hooked! Love your teaching and can’t wait to make more of your patterns. Thank you for your excellent teaching ❤
Omg... i think I could really enjoy making hats instead of dreading making them. and i think i am going to fall in love with Tunisian crochet! Thank you!🎉🎉
My Grama O taught me how to knit and crochet 55 years ago when I would visit her. I bought pattern after pattern and tried countless times to make a simple blanket over the years with not much success. Today with the new title of "founder" and not having to work every day, I discovered your channel on RUclips. Holy Cow, Toni you and Grama O would have meshed wonderfully in your patience and love of all things yarn. Like her, you are a great teacher, but I can replay you over and over again until I get it, day after day. Thank you for picking up where Grama O left off.
The post stitch technique to create those textured grids is such a good idea!! It looks way more complicated in its finished form than it is to create it. So cool!!!
I just this hat in summer 23 with black and polo stripe, redheart brand yarn. I absolutely love this project so much and I'm going to finish it tonight. Thank you for all your beautiful tutorials.
I have been following you for sometime now. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your style of teaching. This month Crochet Society sent a box for beginners Tunisian crochet. For two years I have wanted to try this style. I even purchased a hook 🤦🏻♀️. Anyway, with your videos coupled with the instructional videos I’m proud to say I’m doing this style of crochet. I only wish I would have pushed myself to learn sooner. Many thanks for sharing your time and talent you rock this craft.
I love this pattern so much I made a hate for my two girls and my niece. Working on another for my son but I decided to kind of stager the boxes for his and it looks amazing. Wish I could send you a picture of it so far lol. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern. Just love all your work, you are awesome 🥰
I have made this hat!! I'm new to Tunisian and traditional crochet, so my hat came out very wonky, too small, and I misjudged how much yarn I would need, but I love it and its quirkiness means no one else has one like it 🤭 I'm learning a lot from your tutorials, thank you so much 🥰🤗
This hat ended up being a lesson for me on why I should check gauge before starting... But now my cousin has a cute new hat for her kid! And I'm trying again, but sizing up my hooks this time :)
I am SO excited that I found your channel!! I just started crochet last month and I am addicted!! 💓 Your hand work and explanation are the best I've seen! You make it so easy to understand. Thank you!!
Halfway through the body and must say how I appreciate your learning tunisian crochet tutorial is so simple but includes a "complicated" stitch and pattern to make it not repetitive or boring, so I lose interest. The fun stitch is simple enough and the pattern easy enough to count in squares, that it makes it perfect for not losing or picking up extra stitches. I really love the care into the design you took for newbies!
December 21, 2023 That's a perfect tutorial for a beautiful hat ! Well explained, with enough repetitions for them to be acquired. Just perfect. Thank you a lot ! With love from Paris (France) ❤
This is amazing, Toni!! I haven’t actually started this yet- but I’ve made your Jesse stash basket twice now, so I know how wonderful and easy to follow and understand your patterns are! My 17th birthday was today and I got the KnitPal Tunisian crochet hook set that’s been on my wishlist for like, forever. This is going to be my 1st ever Tunisian crochet project, and hopefully I’ll finish it this time 😅 I’m so excited to start this! Love you Toni 😊
Hi Toni, this hat came out beautifully. I am/ was afraid of Tunisian crochet. You made it look so easy and very friendly. I believe I CAN do this🤗. I’m going to give it a try. Thanks Toni for sharing ❤❤gayle
Now I get it!!! 😂 I absolutely needed to watch this before the class today! Pray I can make it work now haha. Thanks again for such a fun experience!!❤
loved the pattern but honestly you showing your finishing techniques was really the most helpful part! I never know how to nicely finish hats, and I had never seen anything other than the whip stitch before so the mattress seam was a game changer! thank you!
I typically stick to scarves and blankets, but was inspired to try this hat after watching the tutorial. Went right out, got the Clover set and got to work! I might have stayed up until 5am finishing this gorgeous hat. Thanks for the inspiration and the wonderful education! 💚
I knew somewhere there was a pattern I had used for a demo--I am planning on making a blanket similar to Mulberry Afghan for baby (stroller size) but use DK yarn---I had done a swatch and realized this morning that I had only 2 SS between ext. FLDC--and realized an older swatch I had done in worsted had 3 SS and the Mulberry only has 2--and in DK, the 'windows' become more elongated than wide like these. So glad I kept looking. Will now do my swatch and determine how much yarn I need. I'm so glad I found you last year because Tunisian and Overlay mosaic have kept me interested---I'm a 'retired' pro dyer/weaver and now without looms and studio, crochet suits--and your intro to me of Tunisian (and your book) and continued info on it is keeping me interested. Thanks.
You’re explaining this so well I stopped and bought your hat and scarf pattern. I’m watching it all the way through the video now and then I’ll make this hopefully tomorrow. Great tutorial. I’ve never used Tunisian crochet I’m excited 👍🏻🧶🥰🥰
My son was watching this video, as he crochets too, and I couldn't stop watching! I have never tried Tunisian crochet before, but it was so easy (at least this pattern was easy). I have made 2 already! And after 48 years, I have invested in a pom pom maker (just for this project). It was the best pom pom I have ever made. So much easier to tie tightly than the old method. Thank you for your videos. :)
You are the best crocher'er on RUclips I love your channel I watch you all the time, I learnt how to crochet during lockdown and I love it but I haven't tried Tunisian crochet yet I really want to 😁😁😁❤
This pattern is brilliant! I am not fast at crocheting, and I had a challenge to keep the Landscape yarn from splitting yet I had my first hat in about a day and a half with beautiful results. I followed your tutorial step by step without any problems at all. I gifted the hat to a friend who cherishes it and just finished a second hat. This one is a keeper!
Loved this video. Really enjoy your tutorials. I have tried to crochet so many times and just end up frustrated and quit. I am hoping watching you will change it all. I can knit but crochet 😖
I love your video. I’ve been knitting for 50 years and have no problem with following patterns but I’ve always struggled with understanding crochet patterns. I was able to follow your pattern with the video to demonstrate. I’m delighted to have completed my first project in Tunisian stitch and my daughter is delighted with her hat and scarf. Many thanks.
Great tutorial it’s hard trying to work out others videos when they don’t explain what they are doing, it’s hard for newbies just learning thank you so much for sharing with this newbie
I am a new subscriber and know of the Tunisian stitch, but never made a hat. Your work is very beautiful and your video presentation is explanatory. Thank you.
My favourite channel and awesome teacher thanks ma’am i love all your tutorial and have learned so much from your teaching keep up the good work and God bless the works of your hand love from Australia
big thanks from Germany for the tutorial - my first piece in tunisian crochet and I made it. really well explained with the right amount of repetitions, not too long, not too short. will look at more of your videos!
You are the best instructor! You give a short initial overview over each video subject and then get on with it. The tone and pace of your voice is ideal - thanks for all the energy you put into your excellent videos🤗
Notice how this video has not a single thumbs down? This hat is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! And your tutorial is super easy to follow! Can't wait to try this. ❤
That was so much easier than I ever imagined. I personally should have picked a little higher contrast color between my 2 yarns. But I love how it turned out. In fact I love how it closed up on top so well that I refused to add a pompom.
I’ve watched crochet instructions from many teachers on RUclips. You are my total favorite!!! In addition to your teaching methods, I find your voice soooo easy to listen to. Thank you for all your time & effort. On a scale of 1 - 10, you’re an eleven. This old (79!) crocheter appreciates you. Can you tell?!?!
You are SUCH an excellent teacher, and your tutorials are absolutely wonderful. I love the way you explain things thoroughly, yet without taking up endless time with unnecessary repetitiveness. The editing is flawless, and that is so appreciated. This pattern is really terrific! Now, I just need to find a variegated yarn that's not acrylic, and it's going to be my next project (right after the cap I'm knitting for a friend going through chemo, and then the granny square throw or afghan (depending on how many squares I complete before T'giving) that I'm making for my son and his girlfriend for Christmas! WHEEE! Love your nails, too, by the way! 💅🏽👏😊❤️🧶
Wow!!! What a beautiful hat and scarf! I have never tried Tunisian crochet yet but I would like to! Maybe this set will be my first attempt at Tunisian Crochet! Thx, Toni! 😊🧶❤️
When I saw the thumbnail for this pattern I was like "how in the world did she do that!" then i watched the video and was shocked. It looks so easy and makes me itch to try my hand at Tunisian Crochet. I can picture some fall and halloween inspired hats in my future!
Hi Toni, I have recently discovered your channel. You are excellent at explaining the stitches & techniques. I made your toque using mostly yarn scraps & I loved ho it turned out. I did change one thing & made the brim 71 rows as I found it would have been too tight on my head.
I've been wanting to try Tunisian Crochet but was so intimidated. I'm so happy to have found your channel, you are excellent with the tutorial. You make it so understandable and less intimidating. I've ordered my hooks and yarn, can't wait to get started.
Wish I could give more than 1 thumbs up! I've been crocheting for over a year and you are by far the best! Especially with tunisian, which I just learned about 3 months ago! Can't wait to see what else you do! You're FANTASTIC!
I just finished the Mesa Hat using Lion Brand Apple Orchard and Caron simply soft Black, following your excellent step by step instructions. I’m quickly becoming addicted to Tunisian crochet😉
I've never done Tunisian crochet before. It looks easy and I love the way this hat looks. It looks so special. I'm going to get me a 6 Tunisian crochet nook and make a hat and scarf set or two or three. I have a lot of kids and grandkids. These would make nice Christmas presents. If I start soon I might be done with them by then. lol
Hello wonderful lady,i hope that you and your family are doing well.i just wanted to thank you for all your tutorials, must say that there very well explain all the time i truly appreciate it,there's nothing from what I can see that people or me can't understand, everything is well taught 😀 Personal fab is the snob tutorials they make me laugh but also i have picked up very good tips,,now i know what to look for in yarn and crochet hooks..on any case be safe and careful you and your family and keep on with those awesome tutorials..god bless 😀
Wife and I just bought our first house and I'm listening to your videos while I paint my first ever craft room. ^_^ You're all the motivation. Thank you.
This is a very good tutorial! The way you show and explain everything, makes it totally easy to follow! I love the pattern, the colors and will for sure make a few of those! Wonderful, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and talent! Your very happy and sunny nail polish made me smile! Greetings from Germany!
Wow! I love the whole thing! The stitches and your excellent teaching of them. This is the kind of front post I can get into, ( normally dread doing front /back posts stitches) so I’m definitely giving this pattern a go. Thank you, Toni!
This is my favorite channel on RUclips!! Toni, you are an amazing teacher. I made this hat in 2 days with almost no crochet experience. Thank you!
Toni is awesome!

This was beautiful. I have never seen this type of tribute before. The whine at the end was as if she was saying farewell to her cowboy.
This is Hands down THE BEST tutorial 🤩 Thank you for sharing with us!
Toni you are just so skilled. I love watching you Tunisian crochet so many things.

Your instructions were great! Very clear and easy for me to follow. My hat is done and I really like it. Neat design. Thank you so much!
What length cord did you use for the crochet hook for this project? I’d love to make one, but I don’t own any Tunisian hooks yet😅

My sister and I both love your channel. I watch for tunisian crochet and she watches for regular crochet.
You are a MASTER TEACHER for a complex craft that you make look easy. Thank you for sharing your gift! God bless you abundantly!💕
You are the queen of Tunisian and the best teacher on RUclips! Thanks for the tutorial

I was mesmerized by the nails. I love the colors!!!😂😂❤❤❤

hi toni! you are an easily understandable instructor. thank you for speaking clearly and providing the steps.
I typically stick to scarves and blankets, but was inspired to try this hat after watching the tutorial. Went right out, got the Clover set and got to work! I might have stayed up until 5am finishing this gorgeous hat. Thanks for the inspiration and the wonderful education! 💚
Ok great hat… but can I say that your seaming is the best! OMG thankyou
I love how thorough you are in these tutorials! I was finally able to complete a tunisian project. This hat is wonderfully easy!!
This hat and the technique are awesome. I'm going to make a blanket with this technique!

I bought the mesa hat and scarf kit a year ago and finally made them for my mom. They were a hit. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this patern and tunisian crochet technique! Very much appreciated!
beautifully explained to the detail ...thank you very very much....never tried Tunisian...am going to do now...with your guidance..thank you dear
I finished my First Hat and love it! So I told my daughter she could have it, then I made a matching one for her 1.5 year old! Thank you so much.
Loved this video. Really enjoy your tutorials. I have tried to crochet so many times and just end up frustrated and quit. I am hoping watching you will change it all. I can knit but crochet 😖

You are an excellent teacher. I have been afraid to start Tunisian crochet but with your direction, I am ready to give it a try!
You got this! Let me know how it goes :-)
I agree with the nice comments! It look great and difficult to achieve it! But you are a good teacher! Can’t wait to start it!
Outstanding tutorial, this is beautiful..On my list to make, thank you so much!!!
Great tutorial it’s hard trying to work out others videos when they don’t explain what they are doing, it’s hard for newbies just learning thank you so much for sharing with this newbie
I love the way you explain things and how you demonstrate them. You are the best creator I have watched on RUclips. Thank you!! Pattern purchased.
I am a new subscriber and know of the Tunisian stitch, but never made a hat. Your work is very beautiful and your video presentation is explanatory. Thank you.
You give the BEST video instructions of anyone. I love to follow your directions. Thanks for being you.

i love how you did the seam! I learn so much from your channel. Thanks.
OMGOODNESS Toni U are absolutely amazing when it comes to the Tunisian crochet. Thank U for sharing.
You are the best instructor! You give a short initial overview over each video subject and then get on with it. The tone and pace of your voice is ideal - thanks for all the energy you put into your excellent videos🤗
I really enjoy watching you on RUclips
Notice how this video has not a single thumbs down? This hat is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! And your tutorial is super easy to follow! Can't wait to try this. ❤
Great looking hat. I appreciate the way you explain things, Toni, thoroughly without belaboring the point. Thanks for a great pattern.
Great pattern can't wait to try it. Tunisian is fun and much of it's way easier than it looks!
That was so much easier than I ever imagined. I personally should have picked a little higher contrast color between my 2 yarns. But I love how it turned out. In fact I love how it closed up on top so well that I refused to add a pompom.
You are so talented and a gifted teacher. Thank you!
Just finished this hat, and I am in LOVE! Thank you for making it easy to follow along!
Thx, Toni! 😊🧶❤️
Do it you will be happy with yourself
I can't wait till I get the Tunisian hook and cable..so I can create this beautiful stitch, thanks for your VIDEOS. ❤👌👍
I had to buy Tunisian hooks immediately so I could make this. It's gorgeous and the tutorial is perfect!
When I saw the thumbnail for this pattern I was like "how in the world did she do that!" then i watched the video and was shocked. It looks so easy and makes me itch to try my hand at Tunisian Crochet. I can picture some fall and halloween inspired hats in my future!
My first ever Tunisian crochet project. I had such a blast making it and it turned out beautifully! Thank you!!!!
I love that hat but I really just needed to tell you how much I love your nails. You always pick out the best colors!
This is really stunning, and not tricky at all,. You are an excellent teacher, and a real talent at design.
The button trick is amazing. I always struggle with pompons. Amazing video. Thank you T!
Hi Toni, I have recently discovered your channel. You are excellent at explaining the stitches & techniques. I made your toque using mostly yarn scraps & I loved ho it turned out. I did change one thing & made the brim 71 rows as I found it would have been too tight on my head.
No one teaches like you do!!! I could watch you all day. I will be making this hat for sure ❤️
Thank you for explaining exactly which stitches to go into each time. So helpful!
I've been wanting to try Tunisian Crochet but was so intimidated. I'm so happy to have found your channel, you are excellent with the tutorial. You make it so understandable and less intimidating. I've ordered my hooks and yarn, can't wait to get started.
Timeless pattern, love your work so much. Thanks for sharing!
Wish I could give more than 1 thumbs up! I've been crocheting for over a year and you are by far the best! Especially with tunisian, which I just learned about 3 months ago! Can't wait to see what else you do! You're FANTASTIC!
I've made this hat and scarf and it is truly gorgeous. People are so impressed by it, I hate to tell them how easy it was!
Very cool. The Stitch looks so much like knitting. I like both front and back post stitches because of the textures that they produce
Wife and I just bought our first house and I'm listening to your videos while I paint my first ever craft room. ^_^ You're all the motivation. Thank you.
Just made this with the Apple Orchard color. It's beautiful. Great tutorial. Thanks for the clear instructions.
Oh my gosh, that turned out so beautifully! Now I have to start a new journey with Tunisian crochet! Thanks for a great tutorial!
You are a great teacher. Such a cute hat.
Thank you for sharing this really fun and clever hat ❤🎉❤🎉
Wow! I love the whole thing! The stitches and your excellent teaching of them. This is the kind of front post I can get into, ( normally dread doing front /back posts stitches) so I’m definitely giving this pattern a go. Thank you, Toni!
