    Thanks for the informative video. My 2020 X3 ( purchased new) seems to have had a mix up of the two keys when it was set up by the dealer. Using either remote, the profile screen will go to the last user. For example, if my wife last used the vehicle with her remote, then when I unlock the car with my remote the screen welcomes her and I have to change profile to my name. The same problem occurs for her if I am the last user. She has to switch profile to her name. occurs When I try to link her remote to her name it states it is linked to another user. How do I de-link this unknown user from her remote and then link it to her profile.

    Great video, thanks. I have discovered that only one key can be linked to a driver profile which is a shame. Can multiple profiles use the same BMW ID?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Год назад

      one physical key, and one digital key... in the new idrive 8 you can pair two digital keys to your profile, but yeah, only one standard key per profile.

      @@BMWofFW thanks for confirming. Does the second profile have to link to its own BMW ID, or can it use the same BMW ID as the first profile?

    So, will the seat, mirrors and other settings sync to a users driver profile? Does the 330i standard have pathway and ambient lighting in the rear foot area of the vehicle? Does the ambient lighting change between driver profiles? Thank you for your time.

      Ok so in order… 1) yes as long as you save your seat and mirrors on your active profile (so when someone else drives in guest the second you hop in it’s right to your settings) 2) yes pathway lighting was standard in US speck vehicles, 3) yes it changes between profiles, as well as temperature preferences, seats and mirrors.

    I don’t want to have to link this to my key as my wife and I use the 1 car but don’t want to have a set of keys each.
    However, we have a profile each and it is not linked to a key but we find every time we go back to the car it is never on the profile we left it at but rather reverts to the Guest profile. This is really annoying for a £30k+ car.
    How do we resolve this?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Год назад

      My suggestion is if your car has digital key, activate that… you can link both digital keys to your own profiles, leave the convenience access key unlinked so that way who ever gets in put their phone down activating they’re respective profile

    • @JasJohal-h6j
      @JasJohal-h6j Год назад

      There is no digital key. We have 2 normal keys.
      Surely the car should not be selecting the Guest profile when we leave the car. This means every time any one of us goes back to the car we have to reset to our last profile even though we shouldn’t need to.
      It is very frustrating and inconvenient.
      Could you please assist in resolving this, thanks

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Год назад

      it does not... idrive 6 did not have this level of connectivity or cloud access, that's only found in the 2019 and newer cars when they made the move to idrive 7, 8, 8.5 and now 9.

      just make sure you're signed into your profile when making the changes, if you make the change to Guest it won't save.

      slightly confused by your question. The heat/air is dependent on what you had your temp set to when you were last logged in the car.

    How to add a second profile and paire it with a different key?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  3 года назад

      Start a BMW ID and register it to your car as a secondary driver (you'll see "are you the primary driver" question under the VIN number input part). From there, you'll upload your driver profile into your idrive 7 either manually or scanning the QR code generated by the car. after that, while setting up the new driver profile you will have the option to pair it with a key. Make sure your main key is NOT in the car at this point, and the secondary key IS, at that point select the pair with key option and bobs your uncle! two keys, two profiles!

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  3 года назад +1

      Do keep in mind that you can (if equipped right) also pair your digital key (the credit card provided with the car) and your iphone as a key as well.

    When you create a second or third driver profile, can you set your memory seat to 1 or 2, even though the primary key holder had already set there memory seats to 1 or 2

    So just to make sure : I need to make 2 online IDs : one for me, another for the missus. The car itself can only be linked to 1 ID online, that would be mine. But in the vehicle I can use the 2 IDs to map them against 2 profiles, each identified by the keyfob ... right ? What a mess this is, it's so counterintuive but mostly the User Interface both online and in the vehicle are way off. I just linked the car to new ID I created for my wife. No questions asked on my ID if I agreed, no warnong that such would invalidate the link to my ID, only afterwards do I receive a message : yr vehicle has been unlinked you have lost all your privileges.

    • @BMWofFW

      … In what way is counter intuitive? If you use your password on any website on any kind of account it signs into your information… Not your wife’s not your gfs not anyone else’s… Same thing with the car… Your personal stuff saved to your email and ID… Most people if they use one key, they link it to one key… People don’t tend to swap keys on all the basis… If they do, you can simply swap your ID on the fly and that works just fine… I fail to see how any of this is counterintuitive…

    • @101jtag
      @101jtag Год назад

      @@BMWofFW Even that doesn't make any sense. I fail to see why I cannot just create that second profile in the car, assign it to a key, give it a name.... done. If what you state were true, then the car could come with 2 profiles from the factory, each linked to its own key, and all you would have to do is rename it. It's not your fault at least you are trying to make order of the mess, but the number and length of these videos also do prove a point.

      @@101jtag .... the car has cloud based profiles (not centralized in the car) so you can log into ANY BMW i.e. a loaner car, relatives car you're borrowing for the weekend, whatever it may be, and keep your settings,climate preference, hotkeys, mirrors, seat settings.... make more sense when explained like that?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Год назад

      @@101jtag you're right though, previously in the F-chassis cars and E chassis you had 3 profiles that were programable in the car and each key would save to whatever profile was previously activated on it. Through extensive polling of BMW Users it was found that while it worked in one driver situations it was confusing or frustrating for 2 driver situations. it was further determined that 86% of the car's owners when two drivers were involved would use their own individual key rather than sharing one central key. To make things flexible they do still to this day offer you to start your screen on the driver profiles page if you prefer the one key method. with the Digital Key you are now further open to extra keys to link to your profile as well.
