Bandai wasn't kidding when they highlighted the kit's articulation. It's something the RG Astrays could have benefitted from; and especially the durability.
No joke, it's stupid good articulation. However, how it'll age is another story, as my RG Unicorns aren't doing too well. Maybe a retrospective video next February or something to show how the kit is doing after 2 or more reviews and 6 months of life. (Yes, I did pre-order the expansion set for it, maybe would even buy the Effect Wings sets as well depending on if I find them.)
I personally will wait for them to (hopefully) upscale this into an MG 2.0 or MGEX, but the degree to which this RG can move is amazing. Glad to see Bandai is doing the God Gundam justice.
With that said... it makes sense for Bandai to make an MGEX kit focused on articulation... hmm... Yeah, I'm also glad the God is done justice in RG form, like anything you can think of, it can pull off if you get the joints there
I don't think they'll do that now that we have the relatively new HiRM for a 1/100 scale. Maybe an MGEX but that will be be years from now outside of this decade and even then I don't think they'll do it simply because it's not THAT popular and it's already from an old entry. And I honestly can't see them outdo the RG unless they could somehow imitate the human body's flexibility with extra LEDs. The RG is pretty much a reaction of Bandai to the HiRM's shortcomings.
@@wulf8889 I'll still hold out hope. There is precedent, after all. The Hi-Res Barbatos came out in early 2016, after which we received the MG version three and a half years later in late 2019. The Hi-Res God Gundam also came out in 2019, so it's easy to imagine a new MG version may be in the works and coming out soon-ish.

Fun fact: in one Fight, Domon had to dislocate his shoulder in order to escape and continue fighting. It's interesting, since it shows the shoulder of the GUNDAM frame being shunted out of the rotor sector for the shoulder joint
The shoulders themselves aren't articulate enough to be dislocated. I wanted to do that pose, seriously. It'd be funny to look imposing with a floppy arm

At the sacrifice of UV reactivity, but that's an easy mod to do. The metallic gloss shines really well under the light, so it's still superior for standard displays

Really like your "typev3" style review bro. Won't even say you're a copycat since the og don't do reviews anymore. Probably an area to improve on tho is the figure posing especially in size comparisons where we can clearly see the the difference if there's any. All in all, you've come a long way brother! Sounds like I gotta get some booster blocks for my camera where the tripod is too tall, as that has been a consisntet problem for me when I want to show off the height and such at a right level. The RG definitely looks like it lives up to the hype and more. It does look like they're applying their lessons on parts efficiency from the EG onto the RG though, which means we should get cheaper RG kits in the future without sacrificing articulation and detail. Would you be interested in reviewing the Real Grade GaoGaiGar when it comes out?
Let's hope, as this kit has less runners, but more expensive than the RG Wing Gundam TV Ver... Maybe the difference is in the halos, IDK. How much does PET plastic cost? I don't think I'd be reviewing the RG GaoGaiGar when it comes out, as I am not particularly interested, but I also need to give myself and my wallet a break before the proper HGWFM kits come out

Yep, glad you can't wait for yours! That double-jointed shoulder works wonders for posing too, as it allows for poses otherwise impossible with other kits.
G Gundam was my first Gundam series, seeing this damn near perfect rg kit all I can hear is Hoshikuzu no Requiem. Now to dream of a rg Shining Gundam that will never come.
Near perfection man, worth every penny except those that are scalped. And it's not just an RG Shining, anything Future Century related as a whole is a pipe dream. *cough* clear 1/144 Devil Gundam *cough*
got this kit today in the mail as my first rg-took me 5 hours....but well worth the build time. and very nicely poseable-may be a while till my next rg-however i love the line so far!
Damn, this kit is so crazy good. The details and the amazing articulation blows up my mind, although my kit bashing ideas may be put on hold as the kit looks so complicated. Still, a good kit none the less.
All that's left to implement is: a Gundam Fighter flower Capsule as either a stand and MS Deploy Container Hatch for this Gundam though he can crouch nicely with it on display. 😍😍
If we are getting real grade God Gundam, then there is a possibility that we might get a future of both the Epyon and Gundam X, which I am looking forward towards.
Epyon is within Bandai's long list of poll suits never realized, so hopefully we get that soon. As for an RG X, would be interesting to see if it's as good as the MG as well

I think that Bandai just decided to stop including pilots all together on RGs. I am not sure if the new RG Freedom ver. GCP even inherited the previous kit's pilot
They discontinued the pilot figures ever since the RG Zeong, Freedom GCP included. But I can't wait for you to get yours and enjoy it as much as I did mine

It always seems like they struggle a bit with thw rotating fore arms when it comes to RG's Regardless tho, this kit looks amazing. You made it feel like a must need now with in detail you got with the articulation! Good stuff as always 🤙
The Crossbone Gundam's didn't suffer that much. I believe it's the Advanced MS Joint for the forearms causing it to suffer. Nothing a simple layer of topcoat in the joint can't fix though! And yeah, thanks for the compliments man. Editing down 13+ minutes of footage into a 3-minute segment is extremely annoying!
Let's hope. I'm dying for a Master with no other additions. I know the old kits and the MG exists, but I want to see a modern 1/144 kit ever since the HGFC

What about "loose forearm articulation" How exactly is it loose? It's my favourite kit across all series on par with Nu gundam, maybe you can specify looseness? Is it inevitable and without any improvements?
Whether it's inevitable I can't say, as I don't have another copy to see if it's a consistent issue. What I can tell you is that it often gets rotated while you're trying to pose, and sometimes striking the unlock position, causing the arm to fall out. It works like the peg and rotate to lock sort of joints, plus the forearms are the only other part that uses the Advanced MS Joints in this kit. Well, nothing a layer of topcoat in the connection points can't fix, it did for me
For our next RG Alternate Universe release, if the pattern of UC -> non-UC is an actual thing they're doing. It's a long-shot, but I do hope for more RG Future Century releases as much as everyone else

Hi there, I just finished building mine, I wanna ask about the blue part of the neck that slot into the chest frame. Is it supposed to just sits there? I tried pushing with all my might but it seems like theres nothing to click it into place. Therefore whenever I open the chest to reveal the KOH logo all the way, the neck popped up. Other than that It's all well and good.
Sorry for the late reply, but you gotta try fitting it in a few times until you can open the chest panels smoothly. The panels of the head module have to go in a specific way in order for that to happen
How did you get the head assembly to say in? The blue part on mine pops out every time I open the chest up. Seems to just be a friction fit that sits ~1 mm to high and interferes with the chest hatch when it hinges open.
I did it by trial and error honestly, I tried fitting the head unit on until it doesn't catch the chest hatch. Position it as far back as it can, push down the blue piece as far as it can, make small changes until nothing gets in the way, and leave it. It should be solid fit no matter what.
I did panel line the kit. I'd recommend the Gundam panel lining markers if you're a beginner, but you can use the jars of tamiya panel lining ink if you are up to it.
Not a huge fan of G Gundam designs (except for the Nether Gundam, because that is peak mechanical design), but I really need to pick this up when I have the chance. SB-16 needs to be used in more kits.
Yep, HG/RG Nether Gundam is needed, peak of mechanical engineering. But seriously, you definitely need to give this a go if you like what you saw. Also, I agree that SB-16 needs to be used more often, more katanas for kits
The engineering they put into this thing is undeniable, regardless of whether you're a fan of G. Let's hope they pick up from this and implement something similar to future RGs

Woah, if that's your worry, it might not be a good idea to begin with this. You can have it in your stash, but I'd suggest beginning with something like the RG Astrays or the RG Wing TV Ver and work your way up.
The immediate thought to me is "Oh, a modern RG that only has 12 runners? This will be a breeze." until the mentally straining build forced me to eat my own words
RG Deathscythe Hell EW... I salivate at that idea, given they either improve the original RG Wing frame Freedom GCP style, or completely make the frame from scratch
There is a smaller and cuter version of Burning Gundam in the SD Gundam series. Also, Bakunetsumaru's master, Bakusenamaru, in SD Gundam Force, has the same wings as Burning Gundam! I wonder now and then if Domon's personality is inside that smaller and cuter version of the Burning Gundam.
I am inspired by him when people told me that they like my reviews being "concise" and "to-the-point". Still need to learn more from TypeV3 of how to condense and word information, but yeah, that's why it's similar

Yeah.. Those things are old, but still quite good as far as I've heard. Maybe with modern engineering, they can fully achieve all the features of both designs with no need for parts swapping
I low key hate not preordering this beast of a rg also I hope that bandai makes rg for the Gundam from ibo mainly the gusion rebake and full city just to get a very cool head for the gusion
RGIBO might be a decade into the future, and might just stop at the Barbatos (look at where the MGIBO kits are now, nowhere). But yeah, it's just this damn good every store here has their stock sold out within an hour of being available, so you need to grab it if you have the chance!

Really into this one but it seems a little out of my skill level. Tried the RG tallgeese recently and had a pretty rough time with it. Actually made me feel rather incompetent since I’ve done like 10 HGs
No matter how many builds you've done before, I feel like slowly easing yourself into a new grade is the way to go. We all gotta start somewhere, don't worry, just gotta work your way up.

I like the orange metallic effect hands. Good decision by Bandai, instead of using the regular orange clear hands like the build burning 👍

The Crossbone Gundam's didn't suffer that much. I believe it's the Advanced MS Joint for the forearms causing it to suffer. Nothing a simple layer of topcoat in the joint can't fix though!
And yeah, thanks for the compliments man. Editing down 13+ minutes of footage into a 3-minute segment is extremely annoying!

What about "loose forearm articulation" How exactly is it loose? It's my favourite kit across all series on par with Nu gundam, maybe you can specify looseness? Is it inevitable and without any improvements?
Whether it's inevitable I can't say, as I don't have another copy to see if it's a consistent issue. What I can tell you is that it often gets rotated while you're trying to pose, and sometimes striking the unlock position, causing the arm to fall out. It works like the peg and rotate to lock sort of joints, plus the forearms are the only other part that uses the Advanced MS Joints in this kit.
Well, nothing a layer of topcoat in the connection points can't fix, it did for me

For our next RG Alternate Universe release, if the pattern of UC -> non-UC is an actual thing they're doing. It's a long-shot, but I do hope for more RG Future Century releases as much as everyone else

Hi there, I just finished building mine, I wanna ask about the blue part of the neck that slot into the chest frame. Is it supposed to just sits there? I tried pushing with all my might but it seems like theres nothing to click it into place. Therefore whenever I open the chest to reveal the KOH logo all the way, the neck popped up. Other than that It's all well and good.
Sorry for the late reply, but you gotta try fitting it in a few times until you can open the chest panels smoothly. The panels of the head module have to go in a specific way in order for that to happen
How did you get the head assembly to say in?
The blue part on mine pops out every time I open the chest up.
Seems to just be a friction fit that sits ~1 mm to high and interferes with the chest hatch when it hinges open.
I did it by trial and error honestly, I tried fitting the head unit on until it doesn't catch the chest hatch. Position it as far back as it can, push down the blue piece as far as it can, make small changes until nothing gets in the way, and leave it. It should be solid fit no matter what.

I did panel line the kit. I'd recommend the Gundam panel lining markers if you're a beginner, but you can use the jars of tamiya panel lining ink if you are up to it.

Not a huge fan of G Gundam designs (except for the Nether Gundam, because that is peak mechanical design), but I really need to pick this up when I have the chance. SB-16 needs to be used in more kits.
Yep, HG/RG Nether Gundam is needed, peak of mechanical engineering. But seriously, you definitely need to give this a go if you like what you saw. Also, I agree that SB-16 needs to be used more often, more katanas for kits

The engineering they put into this thing is undeniable, regardless of whether you're a fan of G. Let's hope they pick up from this and implement something similar to future RGs

Woah, if that's your worry, it might not be a good idea to begin with this. You can have it in your stash, but I'd suggest beginning with something like the RG Astrays or the RG Wing TV Ver and work your way up.

There is a smaller and cuter version of Burning Gundam in the SD Gundam series. Also, Bakunetsumaru's master, Bakusenamaru, in SD Gundam Force, has the same wings as Burning Gundam! I wonder now and then if Domon's personality is inside that smaller and cuter version of the Burning Gundam.
The Force designs actually look pretty cool, and the Bakunetsumaru is no exception. Damn, I wish I knew of them earlier

Spray the attachment with matte spray (doesn't matter the thickness, you can't see it anyway), and reattach it when it's dry

RGIBO might be a decade into the future, and might just stop at the Barbatos (look at where the MGIBO kits are now, nowhere). But yeah, it's just this damn good every store here has their stock sold out within an hour of being available, so you need to grab it if you have the chance!

Really into this one but it seems a little out of my skill level. Tried the RG tallgeese recently and had a pretty rough time with it. Actually made me feel rather incompetent since I’ve done like 10 HGs
No matter how many builds you've done before, I feel like slowly easing yourself into a new grade is the way to go. We all gotta start somewhere, don't worry, just gotta work your way up.
