Well it is sad that those things happen. But actually there was no chance that they could beat the record of the “IDEC Sport. They (Sodebo Ultim 3) had the same pace when it happened as “Banque Populaire V” of Loïck Peryon, and we all know what the result was. Loïck’s record was beaten with more than 4 days. But nevertheless they tried and that’s good. Now we wait for François Gabart and/or Charles Caudrelier if are willing to try to break the record of Francis Joyon, in the years to come.
Your Videos are from great detail, but I habe to address the Sound. Your Talking is only coming out the left channel! It would be an even better experience if it was right out of the center.
This is something I'm working on. I've checked and it's not only coming out of the left channel, but there is a slight bias to the left which I'm correcting. I don't think I've got it 100% yet, but the next video should be better on the introduction and closing comment.
In these Jules Verne Trophy attempts, they pretty much go all or nothing. If something breaks then they go back to port, waiting for the next favourable weather window.
Great report!
So sad to hear this “Breaking news” again for Sodebo, must be disheartening for the crew.
Ah yes...the Southern Ocean. My back yard. It claims another.
Very unfortunate!! Any idea what team will try next .
Repair boat, build stronger, try again.

😮 … f… k! 😢
As a rudder must be a 'most likely to fail' part of the boat I am surprised they do not have an easily fitted contingency.
hell of a lot of mass to carry around, especially when each ama has a rudder.
