To be able to see the boat *externally* underway at sea is always incredible to me, for all of the decades and centuries people sailed the Southern Ocean before this century, these were views only the birds could have, never humans.
For once, the overly dramatic and epic music fits the footage perfectly. Well done folks. Some of the best raw sailing footage ever shot. Drones and their pilots have fully exploded the entertainment value for ocean racing fans. What a fantastic age we live in.
Exactly and being a fpv pilot myself, I can only admire ever more as it is very hard to pilot the drone with the brain and the fingers focus on flying and the body moving in an absolute different manner because the boat is moving. And I dont speak about take off and landing...
Antoines footage from the ocean race was the best. Not only his drone shots, but also his filming in and outside the boat. On top of that he simply was a vital part of the team. Without his positiv and funny attitude the crew would not have performed so well like they did. I really hope to see more of him in the next edition of the ocean race. Shout out to @AntoineAuriolVideos. 👏🏻👏🏻
Absolutely incredible !!! Merci merci merci - thank you for sharing - most unbelievable sailing vessels ever - what incredible masterpieces of engineering and construction- 🙏🙏🙏
Absolutely superb!!! Extraordinary footage. How on earth do you recover a drone in some of those conditions? Especially 11th Hour Racing and Holcim are very ‘wet boats’.
With great difficulty 🤣 Here's a video from the last edition of OBR's catching drones aboard the VO65 class. ruclips.net/video/gDLIXa_1YMg/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Great! Would you consider reuploading drone shots from last Ocean Race? The ones that were published on the go had limited quality (reduced bandwidth) what was visible on water splashes. This video shows that it is possible to encode with proper bitrate
Epic footage. Separate to that it still feels like the foils need to evolve further. So many times we see the bow dive causing a big deceleration. It must be very stressful for crew and the rig. Maybe it’s a regulation thing that there can’t be active foils?
Great footage of some incredible boats. Can’t help but feel it isn’t the spectacle it once was though with the covered cockpits. To me what made these videos great in past races was the obvious battle between humans and the elements. With the human element invisible they may as well be remote controlled boats
These shots look amazing 🤩😍 But in all seriousness, don't let them sail the southern ocean all in one leg again. The only reason we didn't have any retirements (excluding Guyot) is beacause they got crazy lucky with the weather. Had the south delivered the conditions it provided the last 2 times, nobody would finnish that crazy leg.
if you follow the Vendée Globe Challenge happening right now, the IMOCA class boat (like the ones in the video) are averaging 20 to 25 knots. But in the right condition, they could reach 35 knots. Incredible machines really...
Thanks so much for sharing this amazing footage! As a novice drone pilot, with a few films from a sailboat underway, I can appreciate and admire the skills it must have taken to achieve this. Especially this at ruclips.net/video/4Q6SAAbf6mY/видео.html. I'd be terrified to pull that stunt! (did the drone have a propeller cage? If not, just WOW!)
Not sure about that particular shot, but generally the drone pilots don't use prop guards as they affect battery life, speed and weight - all very important on a boat at sea! That shot is the first time we've seen a drone fly between sails on these boats! Thanks for watching 💙

Please go back and watch the drone shots from 4 years ago those are 2x as good
Thunderstruck.
The FPV shots at 1:32 are incredible. What a pilot

Chapeau and thank you to all OBR‘s for supplying us armchair-racers with the real feel🔝🏆

Great choice of music, well edited and incredible footage.
No words to describe my emotions, while watching this awesome and epic film❤️🔥💯😍⛵️🤙🏼
The race having ended some time ago, these views remind me of what an incredible feat these sailors accomplished. Bravo!
Fabulous!..an homage to the IMOCAs yes but a greater homage to our world's magnificent oceans.
Meravigliosooooo!!!!!!!!!!
WOuha!!! Grandiose!
outstanding footage
3:24 how epic is that shot. yes
I fly drones, sail boats, all in much easier conditions and not combined ,I am floored by these shots, unbelievable
indeed... i fly drones on land and it is hard sometimes to keep all things in order.
Epic!
What a buzz it must be to do 30/40 knots under sail.
Absolutely incredible !!! Merci merci merci - thank you for sharing - most unbelievable sailing vessels ever - what incredible masterpieces of engineering and construction- 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for this nice Rendition.
Great footage and very nice combination with the music. Should make a nice advertisement for the next ocean race.
Goose bumps ❤❤❤, just wonderful!!!
Perfect!
I am amazed at the skills being shown here. The sailing and the flying. Doing both at once is unbelievable.
OMG!!! Goes to the favorites immediately!
Absolut fantastic❤

Nice.
Truly a piece of art. All of it, the boats, the filming and the way it all fits together in such an absorbing way is just incredible!
This video is absolutely beautiful. I was nearly crying with emotion. Thank you.
9:39 I felt that in my back.
Bloody ripper of a video. Love watching yachts plowing through the waves, the epic washing over the top deck. Just awesome......
undoubtably the better drone sailing footage

They are still on utube

This footage is absolutely amazing
Mind blowing. Can you imagine passing Vikings in one of these? Or Magellan? Cutty Sark? Crazy.
Crazy beautiful footage!
Truly superb footage with great music, o and spectacular.
Époustouflant... Impressionnant... Surréaliste et Magique.

just beautiful, i love the wind
Incredible
incredible shots, missing though some close up at stern and bow seeing skippers
THIS !
Goosebumps!!!

I was just thinking were are all the drone view THANKS
Amazing.

Excelente....
could you release more of the raw footage, it seems the drone shots are cuts every 5 seconds just as it gets good.
No way, there are actually FPV drone shots in there!
What Drone equipment used and how did you release and catch at speed?
Where is the EPIC Drone story of who, how and the behind the scenes break down and production shots ...
Epic pictures. But, how do they their drones back on board in those stormy wheather conditions?
Did you watch to the end?
Omg !!!😍😍
5:10 the of sailing ⛵️
Was I alone holding my breath for 11 minutes?
It's cooler than formula 1! For those who understand.
And it's not about the speed of the bollide.... )))
It’s Cat 3 now as it approaches yucatan peninsula

Wich brand and model is it ?
👏👏👍👍❤❤😍😍
Anyone knows how fast these vessels are averaging??

From above, the boat looks like a humpback whale with finned wings)
bit like a Mirror dinghy

Would be still more impressive if there weren’t more than one person on the boats to be seen.
Stunning! Now just need to get their asses out of the water.
2023 Edition
One of the few sports where you bash your brains out 24 hours a day.
Great footage, but you lost me at racing to save the planet
why so ? :)
Good -for- nothing Race.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
. . . but no music please 😒
Das kann keine Maschine und kein Märchen... (Die Schönheit auf Erden ist erregend. Ist das Eden.?!) 100 k/mh ( Der Passat ________ / )
No thanks....not for me.....I get sea sick.
