Last month I bought a kit 15-45mm for $300 (new of course). Absolute top in its class by this price!
Nice video, I use a Sony A7iii as my main camera for paid work, and was looking for a something compact but with interchangeable lenses to take with me daily. I opted for the M100 which I got on sale, I paired with the 22mm lens and have no regrets!

2021, purchased one last week! Though it’s my simplest cam - I totally love it. No bracketing though, but who cares with the size?
I own one of this camera and it performed well. The color of the video is a little bit pinkish but it was tolerable and can be edited in a software. The audio was also good considering I didn't use any external mics. It is totally good for any beginners just like me!
Best M100 review out there so far. I think I'll get one. I have the Sony a5100 also. Love it too...

Get the m100 because some of the sony's have overheating issues. Not a big deal if you're going to use it for photos, but if you plan to use it for taking videos for extended periods of time then definitely go with the m100.
M100 have only 10 minutes in video while a5100 go on in on..until its overheat..no time limit
Actually not the best, it is even not good though. This review is made to be made, nothing else. It does not tell you where are the menus, why those are on the touch screen, what is usable ISO, how does it compare to other M camera, how it compares to another mirrorless camera, what is the grip - how you can hold it, is lens 15-45 better than 18-55 and why (and how it compare to fixed 20mm prime) and author obviously have no idea about other Canon camera, especially others in M series... But the camera is great, it performs excellently in auto on daylight and its price range with 15-45 there is hard or impossible to find a better one. I've had M (M 1 actually, first model) and I see all the improvements at glance and those are huge!

I really want this camera for my channel.
I just bought a camera like that recently. I am very impressed with the capabilities it presents and the excellent quality of the photos it produces. The only downside I found is that I can't take panoramic pictures 😣

Great deal at the moment - £299 for M100, 15-45mm, and the 22mm. Simply excellent value for an apsc camera with the 22m included.
if you want a grip Canon has some cool looking and functional face jackets. I bought the leather one but the plastic ones come in cool colors.
Love your presentation style. I own a Nikon DSLR but am looking for a compact aps-c ILC and it looks like you've helped narrow it down for me

Do you recommend this for and does it have a mic that you can cover up with windscreen thing by rycote?
Nice review. I currently have Nikon D700 with 18-200 VR II, and some other lenses. For my next family trip to Italy, looking for something smaller and more importantly looking for a camera that makes it easier to move images to my cell phone for social media uploads. What would you recommend as a substitute for my Nikon D7000 ?

Hey guys pretty specific question here, sorry I'm just getting into filming. I want to shoot in 1080 60pfs at least, I see that this camera can do this, but it has nothing to do with the lenses, right? If I use the standard 50mm/1.8 with an adapter, can I still shoot in 1080/60 with it? Or with anyone else for that matter? Thanks
Yes, resolution and fps are not related to the lens

Thanks for the review. I have the M6 which is a step up and amazing. I shoot with the M6 as my main camera with an 80D as the back up camera or when I want to be smaller for mic and headphones. If the M6 had a headphone jack, I'd have three of them and no other cameras other than my GoPro Hero 6's which are my b-roll cams. Thanks again and if you have an M6 review or set ups for ciné style shoots, I'd love to see those vids as well. :-)

Hello :) first of all thanks for the review. I am not a pro or anything, i am a bit tor between this camera and an iphone xs, which one will probably take more decent photos , any help?
It’s a very unusual comparison. They are two very different devices. This camera is built to take photos and thus is much better at taking pictures. The iPhone on the other hand has a very good camera, for a smartphone. The only advantage the iPhone has is that it is the camera that most people have with them all the time.
Does it auto focus while shooting video without having to use the shutter button, or any button at all? I’m looking for hands free auto focus while recording video. Thank you!
Yes it has continuous autofocus
Although there's no headphone jack to plug in any mics to the camera, could you use a mini USB to Headphone Jack converter to get a microphone working?
Unfortunately, you cannot use a USB converter

What do you plan to use the camera for specifically?
ReviewLamp basically its going to be used for travel, instagram and shooting supercars.
My recommendation is for the SL2, due to better handling and ergonomics. And very importantly that tilt/flip screen

Hi. Does the kit lens has double ring? For aperture and zoom? Or only zoom?
Zoom and manual focus rings. Aperture is set on the camera body, same as most modern interchangeable lens cameras since the diaphragm in the lens is controlled electronically

Yes. The shallow depth of field (blurry background) is best seen when you are zoomed into a subject

Try and zoom in as much as possible. Also, put your camera into manual mode and set the fstop value as low as possible

The Canon M100 has more focus points, which is a huge advantage. So I would recommend it
