YES! 👍👍🫡 Cycling is very normal here in The Netherlands. If Africa is able to achieve a great cycling network with all streets and roads connected by bike lanes, then it gives African people real independence theyve never known before, cheaper transport and go anywhere you like without polluting the place. Then in a few years African countries will have cleaner air and more greenery. Not sure about the entire continent.
África tiene que dejar de ser ese lugar del mundo desplazado y excluido . Su población se merece una vida mejor y con mas oportunidades. Hay que alentar el deporte en todos los paises de la región.
Bikes ate great ...but limited in range..load..and seasonal. Its recreation not a main means if transportation....except for yuppies. Cant take your wife and kids to town on a ten speed. Also... You mention Africa. Im sure its dangerous in many parts if Africa.........like Sudan. Look at CHINA. They have bicycles by the MILLIONS...in piles. A sustainable way of getting around. It sounds good...very COMMUNIST. It doesn't work though. Its extremely limited. Government cant provide gas and roads and basic infrastructure......so they come up with simple solutions to complicated PROBLEMS. Like Mao. Let them ride bikes! Probably for the best......once they got cars and motorcycles.....on roads with Large Trucks....and no stop lights....few stop signs.....and nobody with a license. Death rates skyrocketed. Probably best. You stick to bikes. Cheap. Simple. Limited. Lazy.
You can't talk about cycling in Africa with out bringing Eritrea but that's a country that the west is struggling to believe why it exists but what ever you do to block us access in the world stage we will continue to irritate you we will keep shining and shinning
Depending on where on lives in the US, cycling is not safe and in other areas where safe cycling is promoted, with bike lanes, wider roads in the rural areas cycling is. California has been the leader in safe biking since I lived there in the 70's; however, even in bike friendly places like this, cyclist can get killed by people in cars. I have cycled all of my adult life and about 1 and a half years ago, an automobile cut me off at an intersection and I took a fall. It is at this moment I pivoted and have not rode since then. Will I ride again, yes, but incidents like these create trauma. I went from riding 120 miles a week to less than 60 miles because of inattentive drivers.
@@StacksSats I've seen sharrows painted on streets/roads (stroads?) where the drivers are constantly going 70km/h, and I swear my brain broke. Sharrows are such a poor lip-service level excuse for real infrastructure.
Wonderful (production note).. a rare DW documentary blissfully free of annoying background music. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH !
is this a change in policy ?
Cycling is a stress antidote
AMEN.
I remember those Phillips bikes in Zimbabwe. Just like a classic Dutch "OpaFiets". Ubiquitous, reliable, easy to repair.
The background music was not loud enough. You should make it louder next time!
Eritrea is the most popular country in Africa by Cycling

Can an electric bicycle lawfully use the nmt zones/ lanes?!

Uganda is on the list only because most roads are suitable for bicycle riding, and not because there is infrastructure put in place for the same 😂😂😂

I've been hit by two cars on the bike, definitely gives you a scare. But I'm still cycling
cities just paint "sharrows" and cyclists will be safe lol
