Her office instead let McRae plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanor gun charge, and he served a little more than a year on probation, which ended may 2021. He initially faced up to five years in prison for the felony charge, the Detroit News reported.
Siemon retired from the district attorney's office at the start of this year after facing criticism from judges and law enforcement officials for her soft-on-crime policies.
Siemon made it her office's official policy in August 2021 to drop mandatory prison sentences for felony firearms charges. She said the sentencing enhancement led to "dramatic racial inequity" and was "not in any way linked to the goal that we share of keeping the public safe".

Because automobile fatalities are not unique to this country, and our rates of automobile fatalities are not out of the ordinary compared to other countries, adjusted for population
Mass shootings- at the rate they happen in this country- ARE a unique phenomenon
We’ll see those are accidents. This is murder. Preventable murder too. But alas we have to hear about another school shooting all because we’re a country that worships the gun.
@@membranealpha5961 Plenty of innocent people die every day from automobile incident than from guns, yet they rarely get any "recognition" from national news.
"No way to have prevented this" says nation where this regularly happens
Oh this happens in plenty of other countries too, with knives and cars and homemade explosives.
But tbh the crime rate in White America is as low as Sweden. Most violent crime is coming from Blk ppl.
Who are more likely to contain MAO5 genes that link to violent proclivities
We should just make them illegal and violent criminals who break the law wouldn't be able to get them, just like how you can't get illicit drugs since they are illegal, right?
You people love to repeat this lie over and over again. I guess you didn't hear about the school shooting in Russia a couple of months ago??
What’s the way to prevent it?
Nowhere is safe now, it could be anywhere and to anyone. God protect us all 🙏🙏
Oh my god I am so tired of this. It is scary to be anywhere in public.
Carry
This wil continue until "The People" say enough...
They have but the rich and cowardly stand in the way.
So how are you going to deport all the BLk ppl doing it?
@@011keepers Yes it is the evil Cabal of rich people who are so fearful that they let this happen. Great argument.
Never flickin ends 😭💔
Blk ppl
Oh my god. That girl went to Sandy Hook Elementary and experienced that school shooting and now she's experiencing it again!? That is just horrifying.
That’s so scary omg
its so scary when your in a drill too!
they dont specify that its a drill
so all you have to do is stay there and wish that the door can hold the shooter
Whatever political ideology you prefer(Blue or red), you can’t deny the existence of a culture that drives these horrific events, a culture that has to be dealt with as it’s only worsen. People need to realize that if there is not a complex enough cultural/legislation type of regulation, we just need to give away some freedoms and hit underground markets, and find a way to track weapon transactions that can traced and link to potential attempts of crime.
I can acknowledge that this is a gun-free zone. Since gun-free zones and laws don’t work, let’s arm everyone to the teeth. Never give up the right to defend yourself, no one will do it for you.
Are you just copying the pre-crime unit?
Take away freedoms a guy with a mustache in the 1940s would agree with you
The firearm culture I know understands gun safety, and only uses a firearm if absolutely necessary. There is no culture behind this, violence is not a culture, if it was, every single person in the country would shoot everyone for any kind of disagreement, that is a culture. We don't need a nanny state, we need proper family households and a more conservative country.
Legit Impossible, how do I Know this? Because I posses a high powered weapon that literally not even my wife knows I own, saving it for the rainy day when a crack head kicks in my door. SUPRISE!
But yet we don’t have a gun problem.
this is why I made a comic that goes:
America: school shooting is so bad... I wish we could stop it
npc: hey can I get guns?
America: ok, do you got a license?
npc: uh...
America: its ok imma give it to you anyways! FOR FREE!!!!
no actually we don't, but we do have an evil person problem.
@EthanTheKirbyFan101 Pretty stupid comic considering most shootings are done with illegal guns anyways and take place in areas with strict gun laws.
Not saying we need guns but yall have this arrogant idea that you know how to stop it yet none of your ideas seem work at stopping it and your snarky attitudes don't really do anything but highlight your pseudo intellectual arrogant attitude.
Yeah, how dare that gun do that.
@@ethanthekirbyfan1013 Great comic, how witty and observational.
We really need to significantly expand couseling and mental health services to everyone... and quiting ignoring or blaming one thing or another to avoid investing in treatment and accessibility. Violence is a symptom... domestic violence, street violence, road rage, drug abuse, child abuse, vengeance or resentment killings, etc.. any one of us could become a victim at any time... and more policing is not a solution.
Why did this happen?
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that the campus is a gun free zone. Allow your students to arm themselves. My condolences to those killed. Edit: How did he get that weapon? Like every criminal, in the streets. These community leaders are clueless. Replace them. Quickly.
How come even in areas where it's not gun-free that only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun never works because mass shooting happen in places where guns were allowed and how come those good guys weren't able to stop the bad guys?
@@guyinsf Please cite one example of a mass shooting happening in a location that allows concealed carry. I’ve only encountered one and the good guy was caught off guard and blasted by the second gun he didn’t see. It is a human right to be able to defend ourselves. Sure, it may not always work but I’d rather be around a bunch of lawful gun owners than not.
Let's just do NOTHING.
any crazy can buy gun.
Anybody with 200 bucks in the hood can buy a stolen gun.
Im a felon and I have access to multiple weapons at my disposal. It’s who ya know 😉
Buying a gun legitimately is difficult
Dude was ineligible for legal firearms purchase. Not ANY crazy can get a gun...legally lol. You should look up Timothy Mcveigh if you think guns are needed to cause harm to innocent people.
Any crazy can buy a gun illegally, if there were more people with concealed, legal firearms that shooter would barely have had the chance to get a shot off
I know this is sad but just imagine how many more people will die because Northfork Southern was able to lobby politicians so they did not have to update their trains emergency brakes.. its sick.
The Dems say that someone shot is more dead than someone run over and killed.
Trillions wasted on trash but nothing ever for school and campus security, its a start we pay for all this other non sense lets do something useful
As long as Republicans block gun control, we will continue to have this. Tired of hearing about unhealthy people having access to guns. Not much common sense exists within the Republican party. Tired of hearing, |pray for the families.
It’s cute you think guns is republican issue. How do criminals get illegal guns in heavy liberal California?
They are too busy crying over fentanyl deaths Debra. Don't bother them with mass shootings.
It was literally already illegal for him to own a gun and he did this. And you're arguing for more gun control laws like that would have changed A SINGLE THING.
just say "I hate guns and Republicans" because that's all I'm hearing from you. As if you could come up with a real solution when you don't even realize the problem and only see symptoms.
Thanks for pointing out that democrats don’t care about our constitutional rights 😆
You seem brainwashed.
68 this year?? That’s crazy…. RIP to those 3 students 😢
How did he get that weapon? How do illegal drugs circulate?
Grabbed your backpack and phone? While getting shot at?? Priorities a bit mixed up 😂
Crazy how it keeps happening and no one’s doing anything
you ain't from Michigan if you never done this before
