He all but announced his retirement recently (August of 2023). Gonna miss watching him play. Loved his style of play....one of the last to make the assist exciting. I've always loved those types (Magic, Nash, Kidd,). Love ya, Ricky, thanks for giving me so much to ooh and awe about these last 15 years...ever since I saw you show out in the 2008 Olympics.
If he had an outside shot he'd be in the top 5 or 10 point guards in the NBA. Hes already arguably the best passer in the NBA, one of the best defenders, great knowledge of the game, never makes a bad decision. His jumpshot is easily fixable too, the only thing wrong with it is that he doesn't have enough arc on it. Get more arc where he can shoot 40-50% FG and 30-40% pt line he'd be one of the best in the league.
You know, the problem with Rubio is not really the jumpshot. Sure, he's not a good shooter, but think of a guy like Rondo. They're very similar: pass first point guards with incredible creativity and very good defenders. Also neither has a reliable jumpshot. But what it's Rondo better at? He can actually finish on the restricted area and he can create his own drives off the drible. Ricky is even a worse finisher than a shooter. In fact he just had career years in all shooting percentages (fg, ft and 3s). He will never be a good shooter and he will be similar in that to Rondo as well, but he could be way better at finishing if he bulked up just a little more.
He's the flashiest passer in the NBA, not necessarily always the best. He throws away his share of balls too. His lack of lateral quickness defensively is often exposed by quicker guards too. His jumpshot doesn't just have bad arc, it's generally just not very consistently accurate. It's actually almost at an embarrassing level for an NBA player much less a point guard who should be one of your team's better shooters. He reminds me most of Jason Williams, another hyped player who filled up the highlight reels but night in night out you didn't really know what you were going to get with him as gets hurt easily and he disappears as often as he shines.
Rubio does commit turnovers like any other guard with the ball in their hands a lot, but he's one of the best decision makers in the NBA right now, great at taking care of the ball. Has a fantastic Assist/Turnover ratio. He actually has pretty good lateral quickness for his size, has always been great at shifting his feet to draw charges and fouls from illegal screens, so I'm not sure what you're going on about there. I mean in a vacuum, one-on-one, guards (especially PGs) in the league often get exposed at some point or another during games due to the elite level of athleticism in the NBA these days at those positions. That's why there's help defense/doubling up, rim protectors, defensive schemes for the entire team, etc. etc. Now, does he need to keep improving his jumpshot? Of course. His shooting %s do seem to be heading steadily in the right direction which is encouraging.
Ok friends, he now has gotten it! Better shooter, more accuracy. Awesome! He just needed some training and trust. He's gotten more mature and serious. He's more focused on the game. I think everything which happened him last two years made him get mature. The death of his mother, his sale to Utah jazz etc... Minnesota must be really angry with that sale. They sold just before he exploded as a player. Awesome Ricky this season!
lol. It's funny to see his teammates always running with their hands in front of them when Rubio has the ball. Even they don't know when or how the pass will come. He's a true passing genious.
He makes every team he goes better. He's not a good shooter _he has improved a lot lately though_ but his other talents make him desirable for any team. Bravo Ricky!
Cavs fans, Rubio is going to be an amazing player for us. Fills a huge void as the backup point guard. Perfect type of player to help this very young team develop. Excellent defender that is perfect to run with, and we will really start to see the athleticism that this team has. This will be a fun year. Might not be playoffs, but enjoy the growth of this young team as they build to be a fun team that starts to win over the next 2-3 years. Go Cavs!
Damn Ricky was super flashy in his early years in Minnesota. Highly underrated PG in the game, I think the Spurs should’ve gone for him a long time ago
Best point guard, I mean true point guard in the definitive way , of the last 15 years. He’ll be missed especially by his teammates who benefitted from his unselfishness.
These are Rubio's flashy highlights, but his true gift is reading the floor. He shift the defense with his eyes and hits the right teammate for an easy 2. No flash required. He became a good shooter, but his release is just too slow to truly be a high volume weapon. Still one of the highest IQ players ever, and a joy to watch.
Wow ben, I legit was searchin up Ricky Rubio highlights, thank you for being the 2nd video I clicked on...impressed to watch one of your video’s unintentionally😂👍
Uncanny court vision that brings up memories of Magic. If the shot is like mine, it's really something that I have not heard about in terms of overwhelming fools. If it isn't, I don't think you can pass that much and have that much fun unless he's more of an assist freak than he's hyped as. I just can't stop shooting.
Nah, Kuroko only really has his pass (the shot and drive are completely reliant on other players if my memory is correct.) Rubio has drives and handles and defense as well. We’ve seen Kuroko is an incompetent defense
this is a true pass1st shoot 2nd point guard, because of his scoring doesn't get his recognition, but if i were a coach he's the point guard i'd want---best in the nba--shades of pete maravich----kevin love misses him every day.
Huge talented guy, world champion and mvp with Spain.

2019. He has a great outside shot. By far he is in the world's top 5.
One of my favorite pg to watch. He does what he's asked; passes, defends, creates plays.
Him & Rondo are just something else 👍🏻
This player is magical, i really love his style

He’s been so good so far
Who's here after he is traded back to timberwolves
How bout after his retirement and I’m a blazers fan lol
OUR BOY IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!
Here after his retirement, underrated guard
Damn Ricky was super flashy in his early years in Minnesota. Highly underrated PG in the game, I think the Spurs should’ve gone for him a long time ago
Man, this era of the franchise were so frustrating to watch, but all these moments are seared in my mind.
My favorite PG…
Thx u for the highlight for us
What a gentleman...a real team player...
Best point guard, I mean true point guard in the definitive way , of the last 15 years. He’ll be missed especially by his teammates who benefitted from his unselfishness.
Nicee and complete selection of the best plays thanksssss
Rubio
Booker
Oubre
Saric
Ayton
Should’ve had a better record with that squad tbh thought they could make playoff run
8-0
But for the injuries he would be an all-star. Certainly fun to watch.
awesome compilation bro, thanks for your work!

how beautiful his game is… if he could only short the friction J
Like to show Rubio respect after retirement natural hooper. ⛹️♂️
I like his style.
Man, if this guy gets a great shot, even if it's an ugly or slow form, he's bound to be a threat in the long run.
So much fun to watch
2:27 worship this Biblical play
Who here after he announced his retirement?
Rubio, there is only one

¡Muy grande! ¡Enorme! ¡Bestial! 🎉

Absolutely grate vid! Top notch!
Spanish pure talent, we love to play with stile.
I think he had a better career in Minnesota than in Utah right now
This might just be me but His steals are somehow so clean too.
este juega al futbol con las manos
God bless him and he was decent player with great positive spirit ✝️
Ricky clinic in Minessota, Utah, Phenix ,Cleveland. Máster Rubio of Mitchel,Booker, Edwars...
He's fun to watch, his dribbling and flashy passer, but his era has ended,Ricky is my influence to playing PG on the court
He can make amazing pass but just cant finish in the paint
4:25 Gorgui Dieng travels so hard
+Grizz KhaLEAFa .... he takes only two steps after the contact with the ball. no a travel at all
How the hell did your comment gets 7 up votes? He only took 2 steps!
yeah i dont even know what i was thinking
but ill take the up votes
It did look like a major travel. I had to rewatch and count the steps too.
Wolves were actually exciting too watch back then .
Who’s here since he retired ??
Our best PG in Timberwolves history… him & ANT would be a fckin problem.
Spurs should pursue him
Ricky Rubio: the white chocolate of the 2010s, reminds me a lot of J will
Best player in the world
Yes of course
NoahV1234 tony snell
Kuroko I found you ))!!
Try searching for Jason Williams. He's the real kuroko. :D
Ginobili pls
Nah, Kuroko only really has his pass (the shot and drive are completely reliant on other players if my memory is correct.) Rubio has drives and handles and defense as well. We’ve seen Kuroko is an incompetent defense
Him and drose are my favorites ♎
AMAZING ASIST
Name of Spanish sounding song in the intro? Anyone pleaseeeeeee.....
The Spanish Pistol Pete!
this is a true pass1st shoot 2nd point guard, because of his scoring doesn't get his recognition, but if i were a coach he's the point guard i'd want---best in the nba--shades of pete maravich----kevin love misses him every day.
because of his shooting, not necessarily scoring... He would be more valuable and dangerous if he was a bigger threat in that arena.

Can you tell me how to find nba match recording(1080p)such as TNT ESPN and so on
Jordan, Magic & Rubio. That's it.
please i like rubio but buy a brain
i think rubio will do good in OKC
He's going to OKC?
If he is half as good as Steve Nash, the Suns will make the Playoffs this season.
Can't even call anything a reaction itself
Positively meant
I see a lot of Jason Williams in him
Cavs legend. Dg and donovans daddy
Let's dish the rock
this player can make the worst players make a basket haha
He must have cut his teeth watching Pete Maravich videos.
I wanted to watch this video but the music made me turn it off
He has many flashy plays but that's it. He doesnt dribble to the rim anymore, cant shot or deffend.
Reminds me of Pistol Pete.
Does he can't shot ?
Kuroko ini real life
Jk he's sweet tho
Rubio who? Doncic from Madrid Euroleague is the biggest miracle in eurobasket, go check him out ;)
That music man, it's even racist lmao, he's from Barcelona not Sevilla
. no 6

i dont like him
