At the age of 7 years his mother took his older brother and sister to another part of the Philippines for work. He was living with his dad who was then put in jail (mistaken identity) and Marcelito had to live in the streets where he would hang outside of karaoke bars and clubs and started imitating singers. He would feed chickens on farms for money and practiced singing to them. He would also sing to calm his fears and sadness.
He should have won AGT!! He has never had vocal lessons. He was homeless and lived on the streets of the Phillipines from age 7 to early 20's when he won Philippines Got Talent in 2011. He said whenever he got scared or lonely he would sing.
My first reaction was, "OMG he ate two people!" One man duet. Who needs two people to get the job done when one man can do it all. Every producers dream, one paycheck for an artist doing a two people's job. Excellent job Pomoy! 👍👍

By the way, he can sing in Chinese, Spanish, and the Italian language, you heard in The Prayer. To top it all, he was orphaned at the age of 7 and lived on the streets so he was self-taught, no training whatsoever. In case you do not know about Marcelito's difficult life. Marcelito's father was incarcerated and his mother abandoned him on the streets and homeless at age 7. The streets were cruel and he was a child dealing with it. When he was afraid, he would sing to comfort himself. He also sang to the chickens when he would clean out their coups for a small amount of money. Yet, he remained a sweet, kind and loving person. He is so humble and, I believe that what makes him so incredible is not just his beautiful voice but, that he touches people's souls. The Prayer, his most famous song, reflects his life - asking God to give him a save place to be. Marcelito is a true inspiration and it is a miracle that he, as a child, survived what most adults wouldn't have. He is truly an angel on earth.

Marcelito Pomoy is Filipino and has an AMAZING backstory. He is self-taught --
his Dad was incarcerated when Marcelito was young and Marcelito's mom abandoned both him
and his younger sibling when he was only 2.
He was adopted by a police officer, but he was a virtual orphan and lived on the streets
from 8 years old on and only made it through 3rd grade in school.
He started singing when he was 7, but didn't realize until he was 18 that he could do both
male and female voices He doesn't speak English nor Italian fluently (which makes his "The Prayer"
below even more amazing!). He was the Grand Winner of the 2nd season of Philippines Got Talent.
He was also recently on America‘s Got Talent The Champions and blew even more people away with
his amazing talent

Marcelito's 2nd voice is the baritone range of Andrea Bocelli, a male Italian opera singer. His last name is pronounced Bo-chelli. Marcelito is a very gifted singer. As for coming in 4th on AGT, let's just say he got screwed. Glad you enjoyed him.

Marcelito takes this song to yet another level in the release of his album, "Duet Yourself". Since it is a tracked recording, he includes all of the harmonies where Bocelli and Dion sing together in harmony. Marcelito is a Filipino singer. Born on September 22, 1984 at Bislig in the heart of the Philippines. When he was young, his father was incarcerated while his mother left him alone with his younger sibling and went to Capital City Manila. His childhood years were a difficult life, for he used to live on the streets to earn something for a living. He’s been singing since 7 years old but only at the age of 18 that he then realized that he could make a career out of it.
UNIQUE TALENT …
Marcelito unique ability is that he can sing in both a male tenor voice and a female soprano voice. Because of this, he’s able to perform popular male-female duets without a partner. He sings both high and low parts, but he switches back and forth between them smoothly.
Marcelito is the winner of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Season 2 in 2011.
In 2019 he took part in America's Got Talent: The Champions and earned a fourth runner up.

Marcelito’s talent in music is indeed God’s unique gift to him, for he did not manage to complete his studies. He doesn’t acquire his talent in music through academic studies, but his naturally cultured dual voices were being developed through his participation in various singing contest.
