I'm thinking LA looks so clean and nice back then and then it hits me, I was a 14-year-old kid living in LA. Sometimes I forget how long I've been around.
It was awful. Women were forced to work in the kitchen and make home cooked delicious meals. Children were forced to learn reading, writing and arithmetic. College education actually got you a good paying job, etc.
Visited So. Cal. two years ago. Me personally, 'a nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live there', but I will say, the freeway system is awfully nice!
I can’t totally understand the degradation in society since 60’s-70’s. Alcohol, drugs, feminism, porn, too much emphasis on sports, advertisers telling us we need bigger house, more expensive cars, fancy clothing, etc all have contributed to the degradation. Technology is big contributor as well. Lived without smartphones for decades and life was simpler, less bs, quieter, more peaceful. Technology has helped make certain things easier, and it a great tool for information, allow folks to work from home, but the addiction to smartphones and social media has not helped at all. Hopefully the younger generation will figure out that the overwhelming majority of what they think they need to read/see via their smartphones and other devices is bs - it’s just someone trying to get them to buy something. Am so glad I’m not growing up in the younger generation, and more and more am welcoming exiting this ever increasingly rotten earth. The degradation was predicted in the Bible. Read and follow the Bible folks, it’s the ONLY way to peace, salvation. Jesus please come back soon. The world needs it more than ever.
I’m Gen Z and I can confirm that the 21st century has been nothing but a big fat joke and dumpster fire. Most of the social media users and influencers see immoral and illegal behavior as something normal, but see acts of kindness and generosity as something bad. Is there something wrong? Every time I look at a magazine cover of a late 1950’s/ early 1960’s suburb I get an indescribable feeling of joy and nostalgia for a time that I never lived in. I know I may be talking a lot, but most of my family find it weird that I want 1950’s appliances, a 50’s car and a 50’s style home.
Excellent film restoration. Likely better looking than the original film. 0:05 Anson Williams and I were students at Pierce College. We got a one weekend job as students working at the Palladium in late 1967 for a special event.
Oh yes I remember in the 1960's and 70's when America's infrastructure / cities where shining examples of what could be.. Fast forward to 2024 and while the US looks decidedly "shabby", its now China's turn to set the trend.. Fast forward another 50 years and I expect, China's infrastructure along with its economy will be a shadow of its former self... The US on the other hand, (crazy American politics permitting), will most likely still occupy the number one spot.
China’s infrastructure is good b/c the the CCP has nearly all the $$$, so while they spend lavishly on infrastructure, nearly all Chinese people are piss poor when compared to the vast majority of Americans . Even the poorest Americans almost universal own cars , while most Chinese can’t even dream of owning one
@@bigmedge I live in China and can tell you there are no “piss poor” citizens who live in squalor. The middle class now has money and most businesses are privately owned. Yes. There are poor people but so does the US or any country. Believe me. China is not what you think it is. I urge you to visit

Fantastic video! best regards from Chile!
When California was beautiful and affordable
My God - how nice and clean it was.
Right before the hippies appeared
Would love to come to this time and era.

So little traffic!

The only thing better now than in 1965 is the technology. I was a kid in 65' and can't believe the degradation of America over the years.
I can only think of the internet and that is it everything else isnt really "better".

Also the modern computer and screens and all those devices for entertainment but is that really better idk? I think so for all the nice simulators.
That’s the typical response. Kids today will say the same thing when they’re old
Look how clean L.A. is in this video. These days there is trash all over the place everywhere you go.
This WAS the Golden Era of California. Today😢😭😭😭😭
I remember a family vacation to visit relatives there at that time. A safer, less insane time to be alive.

California is still the most beautiful state
But the most “effed” up politically!
The cars.
Sounds similar to Jack Webb's or Sgt. Joe Friday's intro into Dragnet.

Back when everyone wanted to move to Cali.
Back when bringing kids to Disneyland was affordable. lol.
Back when everything didn’t cost an entire kidney, lung, tooth, eyeball, heart and brain.

@@Cassius3745 Obviously you've never filled up a Minivan with a bunch of kids.
THANK YOU FOR THE DIVERISTY BOOMERS

Wow, clean freeways now they are all full of trash and graffiti and homeless people living under the overpasses.
Yup, California is. Democrat Utopia! 👈 I approve this message!😎
