Young Living Essential Oils are the best essential oils on the market in my opinion which is coming from 2 years experience using them after having used many other random store bought brands. Quality matters and the Young Living Oils are the best! ;)

The way a ultrasonic diffuser works is a piezo electric element vibrates at a very high frequency. This is the white disc you see on the fog maker. This disc is in contact with the water and when it vibrates it creates a low pressure area that causes the water to boil at room temperature. Some of that boiled water re-condenses and the rest leaves the water as mist. The mist takes some of the oil floating on the surface of the water with it and then that oil is naturally vaporized into the air. Essential Oil Diffusers like this get essential oils into the air better and more efficiently than any other type of aroma diffuser.
The same principles for humidifiers and this project can also serve as a diy humidifier. A diy mist maker like this can really help to get moisture back into the air and increase the humidity of a room.

This is actually the second homemade essential oil diffuser I've made. The first one was the exact same as this one and has been working great for over 4 months. This is definitely a project anyone could do since it requires minimal tools.
My channel garage science focuses on hobby projects, science projects, 3D printing and improving 3D printed parts. I hope you found this video interesting and entertaining. Make sure you subscribe and share it with your friends also have a do it yourself hobby.
BTW, I came up with wanting to do a project like this after watching the video titled "DIY Reed Diffuser! Homemade Home Products That Save You Money! (Clean My Space)" ( • DIY Reed Diffuser! Hom... )and realized that the only people making diy diffuser videos were making a diy reed diffuser which aren't nearly as good at being a deodorizer as an ultrasonic diffuser. So I figured I could make a guide for the best diy diffuser on youtube. Let me know what you think of the project in the comments!!!!
Some of the inspiration for this video came from the video titled "Ultrasonic Mist Maker || DIY or Buy" by GreatScott! which can be watched here: • Ultrasonic Mist Maker ...
Another good video on fog makers can be seen in the video titled "Trying to build a crude mini Fog/Smoke Machine" by GreatScott! which can be watched here • Trying to build a crud...
This video also functions to show how to make a DIY Nebulizer similar to the one shown in the video titled "How to make a NEBULIZER at home" by Coverrise ( • Video ). A homemade nebulizer can be a cheap and affordable alternative to something store bought but shouldn't replace required medical equipment.

Lol
I also enjoy shilling for MLMs.

You remind me of my late grandfather who made a radio player with me when I was 5~6. Much respect for ppl like you guys!
Love watching these type of videos. Reminded me of my early youtube days watching kipkay
This is so cool I wonder if you can hook this up to your HVAC
( 00:50 ) lazy option would be using a 24V DC fan ( 3D printers ). Then you don't have to do the lowering the voltage mod. All n all, this is a great idea and I have already place my order to get the atomizer. I subed and rang the bell already. Now where is the button that gives x100 thumbs up

@@raarism : Using A vaporizer unit is OK if you don’t live in a place that is not terribly humid or terribly cold. But if you’re living in a place that’s either one of those things, it’s not such a good idea, because you’ll never manage to heat the house, and you’ll have mould problems. Those of us that fit those criteria really need to choose another method. If it’s just about getting essential oils into the air, and ultrasonic diffuser is a good way, or you could passively use a hot oil ring On a lightbulb. Or A passive method like reads in a container of essential oil solution.
Dude, I love how you put a TV in the table with the 'subscribe' button displayed. I appreciate your effort; you've got my subscription!
Well done.
I think you could slow down during the electrical parts.
Explain how you set up your meter from start.
I had to watch it few times to catch the wiring parts.
Just observation not complaining at all
Awesome thanks for links in description on where to find the items
I got lost at the first second.😂
I’ll just buy a diffuser. Thanks.
Hello, great video. I am wondering if it is possible to direct the mist horizontally. Thank you.
It is, you just have to put a bend into the outlet nozzle.
Great question
Hey, great project. I use some reed diffusers for a very faint aroma in certain rooms. But this has the capacity to do a large living/dining room combo. I'm definitely going to do this one. I have everything needed, including the ultrasonic transducer.
Thanks for the vid.
I just wanted to know how it works xD

Good job! 👏
Thank you. Had to figure out why my fog was so small. Just had to add water 🤦🏼
Once the volt thing started with the little machine to measure i was lost. Do we have to have that??
If you connect 2 fans in series then you can accomplish the same thing.
Cool video. I've been looking into whole home nebulizing diffusers. They only use oils not water. I'm just not sure what parts I would need.
Garage science: I’m a total noob at this. So, I’m wondering why you chose to use A fan and fog maker combo of different voltages. Would there have been a problem associated with using two of the same voltage?
Excellent stuff!

Nice video my friend 🙂
Thank you for making this- I’m going to try making at least one because the more I buy /try and research diffusers and humidifiers the more I’m shocked at how hard they are to clean. They’re really hazardous to your health if they can’t be cleaned thoroughly, especially for people with compromised immune systems.
This was super helpful! Thank you!
exactly what i wanted
If you wanted to make the mist be a little warm, how would you do that?
You could out a very small heater in the jar as well or use an insulated container and just put warm water in it to begin with.
Garage Science are the mister devices heat resistant?
They would be a little but I wouldn't expose them to water that is hotter than about 100-110 degrees. It's still electronic equipment.

great video, I love Young Living oils! Your diffuser will last forever, not like the store bought one! Great job :)
How has this held up over time?
Still runs like a champ. I made two like this and they both work great.
Wow! This is a cool project. I’ve been looking for a way to diy a diffuser. I like how you explain adjusting and creating a baseline for both currents. How would you compare to store bought diffusers? Thanks for this, Mellisa😀
hiii .. i have a question if I use a 12v ultrasonic mist maker instead, it means that I do not need the resistor to lower the voltage, right?
Very nice video :) Is there any way the frequency of the ultrasound diffuser can be controlled so that the mist formation can be reduced or increased ?? Thank you in advance.
A lower voltage should result in less mist up to a point. Then it probably will just cease making mist entirely past that point.
@@GarageScience Thank you. If I have understood correctly, there could be a small window for adjusting the frequency of the diffuser. Since I am not having any background in electronics, I would like to ask by what means could the voltage be adjusted.
Why did you stick the cut straw pieces on the bottom of the fan?
Thank you for your awesome descriptive videos!! You keep stepping up your game
Does it make a lot of noise like the cheap wal mart ones?
why did my pc fan is not working?
I did what you did, any suggestion?
So, you need to be an electrician. Helpful.
Tamas Mihaly right this is stup where t heck am I gonna get this stuff
Do you think I could make one that could fit in my pocket
Yup I'll just buy a 12$ diffuser
its 8 dollars ( well 7 euro) here lmfao
😂 NO DOUBT ITLL WORK BETTER TOO!
@@Arda-Profession its $15 here
Send it to me and I'll do a side by side comparison and you can tell me how much better the $15 works.
@@GarageScience just to to the dollar store buy a $5 one then do a side by side video. I'll give it a like for ya.
So it has to be enclosed to give fog? I have it in open container and just thought it was broken.
hi...can u plz let me know 2 things 1)Can it be connected to the battery for teh power source and 2)Can it be motion sensored..that is can it be motion activated and kept in a room?please advise ..If possible, can you please add a video for that...I am trying to make this kind of project for quite a while..I need an expert advise like you.. @Garage Science..also there should be a mist level controller - Low ,mid and high
This is awesome! Great video quality too.
Btw, I've got a pirate snowglobe, with 2 internal led lights & a tiny glitter blower, that runs on two AA batteries but burns thru em in 30 min. How can I make a wall plug for it so I can bypass the battery dilemma?
Very godd broooo, keep inventing such great things and inventing it with such simplifications lovedd it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Used this tutorial to hack a Japanese Tatami showpiece into a diffuser! It's soooooo cool now. bettwe than the plastic ones out there
Thanks👍
Great video thanks
How much to make me one
Around $15-20
Thank you
A few years ago I would have made a bunch of these. Due to a health problem my eyesight isn't working to do projects like this. I have a young living diffuser I used to replace the disc every other year. Now I can't get the unit to turn on and the disc is new. If you monitor this still and would sell some units if you still have some. I can do a review to credit your channel.
You're C😎😎L. Cheers from AZ✌🤠👍
What about a waterless one? A nebulizing diffuser?
A true nebulizer requires very precise components making it cost prohibitive as a DIY options.
I'm also interested in the nebulizing diffuser. Did you ever happen to diy ?
Is it okay to not have a fog maker ???
No it isn't, everyone needs a fog maker/essential oil diffuser.
Could anyone kindly tell me what base to use for this kind of diffuser? Would an oil base be necessary or would distilled water work? Tia
(edit) I know he uses water in the video but looking to make a bulk lot and obviously water wouldn't work for that. Though id rather not be breathing in loads of oil/whatever else they put in the shop bought stuff.
Distilled water for sure. It won't work with oil.
@@GarageScience Cheers. After a bit of research into the shop bought stuff I've come to the realisation that nobody should be breathing that stuff in!
How do I get in touch aside this medium pls?
Go to my Facebook page and message me or email my gmail (listed on my youtube channel)
Aliexpress 5$ cute little diffuser??
So clearly it’s not something we can just DYI with stuff we have laying around the house 😂
why not simply get a 24v fan?
I love the video but disagree with your tape option. You need to use heat shrink. It is a clean and more permanent solution. Also you mentioned that Young living is the purest oils but that is up for debate. Before my wife and I decided on a essential oil supplier we researched all the major brands. None of the brands carried by stores are very pure. Also any bottle that states "not for internal use" is not safe to use period. If it goes on your skin, it goes into your body. We chose to go with a different company as to all the court nonsense and purity issues surrounding Young Living. I also did some trial comparisons between brand and Young living was not on top. Thanks again for the great video ideas.
Less headache to buy one.
But more fun to make your own ;)
He calls this a "fog maker", Is this the same as a "nebulizer", or just a regular "diffuser", I just found out the there is a big difference between the two, and a nebulizer is really the Only was to truly get the full therapeutic benefits of pure Essential Oils.
Well yes and no about getting all the benefits of the essential oils... a nebulizer is more a medical grade machine that makes extremely small liquids droplets in the air to help deliver medicine. Typically they use special stainless steel meshes with very small very high tolerance Holes. Where a diffuser essentially uses a small speaker to ultrasoniclly vibrate the water and create mist.
What he essentially means is an ultrasonic plate that is used to create the fog. This is used in ultrasonic diffusers which he created. Nebulizers are another type of diffuser which don't require any water, only essential oils.
I don't have required tools and device. Anyway I will buy humidifiers from ebay.

Why do you think this stops running after a few seconds? At the end of the video it stops running. I mean the main ultrasonic humidifier itself. I tried it in different bowl in different water levels but it does the same thing before even starting this project. ruclips.net/user/shortsQTjyeZ2T7wk?si=tniPSMeNrakg9NYh
This was interesting, but you do realize that the cable/wire has plastic wrapping, which will be dissolved by the essential oils... and before it completely ruins, it will emit the dissolved chemicals from the plastic wire into the water resulting in toxic chemicals in the air.
#chemistry
No such dissolution of the wire insulation has occurred even after months and months of use. You are right though, some plastics can be dissolved by essential oils.
You asked to be informed how I managed not to hit "Subscribe". I'm afraid it was the repeated mentions of a "PC fan". At the start of the video, it was a "3D printer fan". In reality, it's simply a fan. It's puerile and pedantic, I know, but you asked. I'm still hitting "Like".
I understand. I do try and use language that can be easily understood by others. I'll work on being more clear and consistent in the future.
Hi, this is HMX (again). HMX is relatively bad at youtube in that he follows the videos of quite a few people but he doesn't subscribe to much of anything because of a fear of commitment or some such nonsense. To make up for this, HMX does try to comment of videos while allowing commercials to play and HMX also tries to 👍🏽videos when he remembers to. HMX enjoyed this video and might consider subscribing one day after he undergoes therapy to help him deal with his #Issues. Hope you don't mind, but you've been added to his watch list of interesting people to try and keep tabs on.
Be like HMX.
Diy oil diffuser
1. Buy a jar, a fan and a fog machine aka a diffuser
2. Electrician stuff
3.???
4. Give up and buy an already assembled diffuser
Better buy one
nice but damn need water every 30 minutes
I just want to say, the content is awesome, but doing it on a table with a giant subscribe icon? Like, how does subscribing make that eyesoar go away?
ooh very hard .....who's do this kind of things..but i liked video
The only use of the video is for educational purposes... And if you wanna make 5 litre bottle oil diffuser
Who wouldn't want a 5L diffuser!
I didn’t subscribe because I skipped to the part where you put the oils in.

Woodprix has a lot of designs to choose from.
Cause I can go to wal Mart and get one for $9.99 and ain't gots to do shit .
Per your request, I didn't subscribe for two main reasons:
1: Took 10 minutes and I personally feel like it could of been slightly shorter.
2: Overall, seems like the sound quality of your microphone doesn't appeal to me.
Positive Note: I appreciate your editing of the video as it is informative
Good Luck on your RUclips Channel
