This film was traumatizing, but in a good way 🤣I thought it was a creative spin on a very, very familiar trope. The whole nun-biblical-catholic background has been beaten to death and we've all seen a 'girl gives birth to the antichrist/devil', but I thought the inclusion of the Holy Nail relic and the convent specifically trying to create an offspring of Jesus with DNA was pretty unique.
Fun fact - this is a huge passion project for Sydney Sweeney. She auditioned for this project like ten years ago, but it never got made. After she became famous due to Euphoria, she bought the rights to the film and became a producer. I think it's really awesome that she chose to use her fame wisely and made an actual effort to bring a small-budgeted, innovative project back to life.
To put a cherry on top, she basically gave an Oscar-worthy performance. That birth scene...hard to watch, but it was also completely captivating, because Sydney sold the shit out of that. I can't believe that was one take. Girl must have needed an inhaler afterwards lol
Also...not to be this sort of person, but as a future nurse, I can't help it...there's actually no physical way to tell if someone's a virgin or not. The hymen is just an external piece of tissue that surrounds the vaginal opening. It stretches and thins, which is why it can tear during sex, but it can also tear during many other activities...like putting in a tampon, getting a pap-smear, horseback riding, playing a sport, etc. Some women have their hymens stretched open and they don't even notice. Just wanted to point that out, because unfortunately, it's a very common misconception that's rooted in a lot of medical misinformation.

I appreciate it too. I can't help this either, lol, but I feel compelled to note that women can give birth and still have an "intact" hymen. It's an arch, not a gate, like so many think. The idea that hymens were the measure of a woman's worth for so long is horrifying.
ETA: Also, some hymens have been known to "heal," essentially growing back together after tearing. So the idea that virginity - itself a social construct - can be proven or disproven is even more ridiculous.

This is what I like to call a burger movie. You ever had a really well-made burger? You don't need to get super fancy with a good burger. You get good ingredients and someone who knows how to cook, and you've got magic. Same with movie like this. You're right that it doesn't really do anything brand new, and if you watch enough horror movies, you can guess the general story beats... but DAMN if it's not a fun watch regardless. Good acting, great cinematography, well-paced dread... LOVED IT.

Now this movie boy was it good. Sidney Sweeny gave her best performance yet she was serving and the fact that she was fighting while being pregnant go off final girl we love to see it. I loved the ending too.
Her best performance is in “Reality”.
Yep i enjoyed that she was active and actually strategic in trying to get away. And that she was able to smash the baby, unlike in First Omen😅

the director michael mohan actually said the darkness of the film wasn’t at all intentional and just how it ended up being released. I think he said that the Apple version is the closest to the version he had in mind in terms of brightness.

Look my thing with Sydney is that she can act but she has been miscast a few times. She’s a serious dramatic actress not a comedic Rom-Com one and “Anyone But You” showed that. Based on most of her roles so far she’s being casted for her looks rather than her talent. I do have a theory that one day she will do a movie. I’m which she undergoes a DRAMATIC TRANSFORMATION like when Charlize Theron did monster. She’s gonna play a dark character and COMMIT. I don’t know I just have a feeling that she’s gonna do that. It’s the only way she can be taken seriously. Also I could see her giving us a performance that’s considered one of the greatest performances of all time. She just needs the right director and script and awards season would be DONE.

This movie was sooo good, the first two acts are so wonderfully creepy and tense, but the final act is just so batshit crazy, i love that it leans into the craziness of it all, like do I believe a pregnant Sydney Sweenie on the verge of giving birth could become a master murderess and take out like 3 people rapidly in cold blood? Not really, Did I care? Absolutely not I was living for every second of it and was cheering her on

Now, in the newspaper where they talk about her ice accident, it says it was 2009 so this story would be even more recent. The thing about the hymen, the candles, the bathing wearing clothes and all archaic stuff I want to believe is there to contrast and show how out of date these people are... maybe.
I saw this movie last night, and I loved it. The suspense was intense, and the story was creepy. Sydney Sweeney was awesome and gave a great performance.

I had to stop watching Tarot, because I was getting a headache from squinting. Like that and sound. The difference between the quietest and loudest parts of a movie these days is Hulu commercial level and I'm over it.

We arrived late at the theater but I was happy I hadn't seen the first part with the nun being buried alive because I enjoyed the not being certain if the priests and nuns were evil or not. Fun movie. Sydney is awesome and so are you.

I see people saying that she's not a very good actor here in these comments. And that's their opinion and that's okay, I'm just saying how much range she has. Romance, Drama, Action, and Horror. Is someone act through those generes, they're damn good.

Really enjoyed this movie! I'm not religious but I love religious themed horror movies. Sydney Sweeney was amazing in this, the look on her face after she gives birth was so damn good.
Sydney Sweeney starred in some Amazon horror movies, Nocturne and The Voyers. The Voyers honestly is possibly movie psycho-sexual thriller than horror. Hope she keeps making more of them.

Ok i know i probably annoy you but with the vibes of this movie youd really love Penny Dreadful. If you like messed up plots, people acting their asses off, incredible sets, interesting yet familiar characters! Its a shame it was only 3 seasons but it was filmed with a movie budget so they went broke. Its still a underrated incredible 3 season show. Eva Green's acting is crazy!!! PLEASE REACT TO IT!

Plotwise, the only thing that really made me roll my eyes a bit was her going out of her way to garrote the Cardinal. Yes, it was emotionally satisfying, but she may have burned the lab and made a clean getaway if she hadn't stopped to do that.

If you enjoyed this film then I’d highly suggest “The First Omen”. I’m normally pretty skeptical about prequels. Especially when it comes to beloved iconic horror films. This film left me feeling uncomfortable in my skin holding onto my rosary in the best way possible. Stunning camera work and tribute to the original franchise. 4/5 demonic possessions⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️would recommend

first omen clears by a mile
Wish I could have seen it in theaters, trailers made it look kinda dumb. We have a lot of movies with antichrists being born so to see the ending like this makes it refreshing.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. But the director did say the streaming of this movie did not translate the lighting properly. So that’s why sometimes it’s too dark.

Try and watch Motherland: Fort Salem TV series.
I've seen a couple of movies like this premise in this past decade and it's one of the better ones. I only wish for a better story about whatever cults think they're recreating Jesus or God see the evil signs as the baby grows and questions what they are doing. Instead it's playing god or actually trying to birth Satan. There's only so many times you see the same plotline. Good suspension though and the ending feels very cathartic.

Great reaction! To be honest, I still don't think Sydney is that good of an actress. I don't think this movie asked much from her, and she was pretty mid. Nell Tiger Free blew her away in her performance in The First Omen. Like...genuinely amazing complex stuff that I think Sydney would not have been able to do at all. And it was also the better movie. imo (at least the first 2 acts, maybe not the last). I hope Nell Tiger Free continues to get some bigger roles, because she has too much talent to waste.

I liked this movie even though its a lot like Rosemary's Baby. The score is excellent. I think this is better The First Omen which i found kinda boring.
