Aw, I love Cardinals, feed the ones in my yard everyday. Years ago I had one that was very friendly and I named him Angelo. One morning I heard Angelo screaming because a large bird, a falcon or a hawk, was attacking his nest. I got up and ran outside and started throwing rocks toward the bird to scare it off. I was able to save Angelos nest. A short time later, about two weeks, he came to my picnic table and tapped on the window. And then he proudly presented his son to me, The one I had saved in the nest the day the bird of prey came. Angelo was so proud to show him to me and say thank you. These birds know a lot more than people may realize. They are highly intelligent, sensitive, aware, and they love very deeply.
I have a friendly male Cardinal as well that keeps coming to me for the past several years. All the other cardinals in my area are shy, especially the females but this one in particular has a fondness for peanuts (he will take shelled or if in the shell, I just crack the tip and he's able to carry it off to his favourite bush to open and eat). He comes to my window ledges throughout the house to get my attention and even finds me when I venture to the mailbox or take short walks in the area. They all seem to have different personalities. His personality reminds me more of a blue jay in how much he's interested in interacting with humans. They're just such pretty birds!
This is AWESOME!! You have helped a Zoology college student! Thanks! This video is perfect for my behavior profile of the Northern Cardinal project. I am going to cite the link in my paper. BTW, I watched your guitar playing, Dude, and you are talented... And a great videographer.... :)
I've seen guys do this at the beach trying to impress a girl and the girls watch them with the same expression the female bird has before walking off with their friends.
Glad you shared this video! It's always a thrill too see a Cardinal! And especially Delightful too see the pair! He showed a gentle flutter of support! He will make a great Dad and provider! I thought he was impressive, easily foraging for taking care ❤ of Mom and baby 🐦's
I have them everyday in my backyard. Males and females. They come to eat from my bird feeder. They only approach if they feel secure. Those big black male eyes can spot any movement even from inside our house and fly away. They are absolutely beautiful to watch and we have had many opportunities to take pics. I love birds...
When I used to practice photography, Cardinals were so difficult for me to capture. Even at a distance, they would fly away after just a moment. I live in st. Louise Missouri btw, so they seemed to be around at least part of the year.
If the lady doesn't admire you, she won't fall for you. You have to impress her. You can't get distracted by food or she'll go with a more impressive guy.
OK, I JUST witnessed THREE females and ONE male in close proximity of our bird feeder. 2 of the females were on the ground shaking their booties while the male hopped back and forth between them. The third female was directly above the action inside the feeder chomping down on seed and couldn’t care less.
Was lucky to witness a male cardinal doing exactly this today to an innocent female bystander lol the female cardinal flew away back to my feeder to continue eating!
I saw a male cardinal doing this at the top of a tree and the female was nearby and I didn't realize that it was a courtship dance I thought he was trying to distract a predator bird in the area to him to protect the female but now that I see this video I understand that it is part of a courtship dance thank you.

How beautiful. I agree that they are incredible animals. How is Angelo?
Such an amazing song.😙

Love how he grabs a bite to eat mid dance.
Dancing is hard work! 😂
Why would anyone dislike this? Must be a house cat.
I know! I am a zoology student in college, and this is research grade!!!

As soon as he turns his back, she escapes while thinking “he must not date much.”
😂
Birds are so romantic
"Woah.. I reeealy like da way u fwap ur wings."
I thought it was cute when the female cardinal had her beak hanging open.
She was barking all nasty at him as he wasn't impressing her with his old fashioned moves.
sameee
Omg I saw a male cardinal do this with a female in a tree the other day! I wondered if the shivering was a courtship dance🤩So cute!
male card: "is this turning you on, baby"? she flies off. male card: "c'mon, baby, don't be like that"!
I guess it's kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to watch newly released movies online ?
@Elian Rocco Try FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
@Leighton Emerson definitely, been using flixzone for since march myself =)
@Leighton Emerson Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) I appreciate it !
I think cardinals mate for life, and their always together. Another unique trait too watch is when the Male feeds the female.
See! He Gave Her a Flower 💛🌼🍯🐝 it’s in The Back Ground!

This is so Adorable. 🙋♀️🐶🥰🤗🦋.
"Wanna see me flap my wing really fast?"
Do cardinals mate for life? Cause I can imagine the dude bird not wanting to go through that every year.
LOL and yes they do mate for life like geese.
Go through what? Compared to many other birds, the Cardinal is a lazy suitor.
She is saying, Is that all you got????
Lol!
WOW I WISH A MAN WOULD DO THAT TO ME TO GET MY ATTENTION.
And flap his what??
@@withvinayak And flap big strong wings around me. 😉💯
@@pretibrowniss girl thats assault
''Hey, uh, I just flew into a clothesline pole and I think I cracked something. Is this wing twitching more than the other?''
Really needs a tango music soundtrack.
😂👏🏻🎼
He's not putting much effort in! She's out!!
I love how there's a pretty sunflower in between them 💛 romantic
...
that's a dandelion.
🎶"That don't impress me much"🎶
Thanks for sharing!! This was awesome to see!! Great catch… minus the news broadcast noise in the background…🙃
😍🙏🏼💕❤️😇😇🤗
Him: Yo girl, can I get you number?
Her: (O v O)
The RUclips algorithm decided that I’m into cardinals. I can’t disagree.
Us guys, we're all just trying our hardest to win over a fine female.
Nice capture. Thanks for sharing & Big like
Super cute love birds

She looked at his masculine wing and gasped! She said: Let's go, you got me! I love you long time!
Merveilleux!!!
Blessings +++!!!
He's like, "Look at my strong wings!"
Look at this beautiful little man strut his stuff!

She was speechless
This cardinal has some issues when it comes to make a lady fall for it 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Beautiful ❤💕

This is amazing, they sound like they're almost speaking English!
she’s like…i don’t know if you are good enough! i hope he is, so we can get more cardinals!
She wasn’t impressed; her stunned look was obvious.
Awesome video! I have never seen cardinals do this
❤❤

Thank you for sharing this. I just saw a male cardinal doing this with a female in our yard and wondered if it was a mating ritual.
"Can't I ever just eat insects in peace!?"
the female wants a nest, food first before the male can get any action
Beautiful 😍
Smart girl couldn't be bothered..❤
See my wings ! I’m so pretty ! Mate with me !
Bring her some dry roasted unsalted peanuts she will love you forever ❤️
She didn't seem impressed
She doesn’t seemed impressed 😂
That's awesome.
He committed the Cardinal sin of eating while trying to look cool.
awesome footage
You should be dancing ..yea!!
Great video. Wish you had turned down the background noise earlier
Dear brother I am new subscriber
The female is entranced by his moves.
Female cardinal: "Meh." 😂
And if I do this to a girl I get slapped.
If you flapped your arms around me, I'd be none too happy about it either! Hahah
LOL she was transfixed by it
Guess she wasn't interested, 😅😂😅
flapjack
I think she's down to F
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Too bad there is a TV on
The female didn't really dance. Maybe not interested. With Mockingbirds, they both dance and it can last a long time.
Ain't worth the time and effort guys
