Maravich's retirement had nothing to do with what Bird said to him.

What they may not understand is Pro Basketball was on the verge of collapse. Had they not landed where they did when they did, Lebron and Steph wouldn't exist in anyone's mind. Basketball would have ended as a pro sport. It was close to going under.

Btw there's an interview of Pete Maravich where they ask him about Bird. He says: "I don't think Larry is the best scorer, dribbler, rebounder, passer, shooter, he's just the very best". Also, sadly, Maravich too lost a parent to sui...de.

For some of the most beautiful basketball you’ve ever seen check out the 1992 Dream Team documentary. 11 to Hall of Famers. Everyone was glued to their TVs when they played Larry and Magic with the Co-captains. It’s also the last time either one of them played. I still get chills when I watch the games. Only about three or four people did a reaction to the documentary in one shot it’s a little over an hour. They were all stunned they wanted more they said. And I guess because RUclips has so many videos the others who broke it up into two or three parts are missing.

That 44.2 PPG average from Pistol Pete was BEFORE the 3-point line was introduced. Once the 3-point line came into effect, a study was done to track all of his shots from his college games and they found that if the 3-point line were in effect at the time he played, his average would’ve been 57ppg. There begs the question of whether he would’ve done anything different if the 3-point line were in existence. Would he have taken even more shots from downtown, possibly increasing that average?

Well, in 79, Bird did play with some hall of famer's. Just not the ones from the 80's. Dave Cowens, Tiny Archibald and Maravich. Although Pistol and Cowens were at the end of their careers. They also had Maxwell, who was a really, really good player. You put Bird on any team and they are automatically winners. Dude was a killer.

IT amazes me how the Lakers were even able to select Magic. I mean, He was one of the 2 best college players and the Lakers were already a great team, How did they even have such a high pick in the draft?

Watch the 1978 World invitational Tournment where Larry and Magic played together but only got little time on the court because of their utter dominance on that court. The coach played a bunch of lower level players while Magic and Larry sat on the bench.@@Gracie-SavedByGrace

i dont think steph “ruined the game” he changed it tho,the only reason why you think he “ruined the game” is because he was winning,if lebron was winning more we would be talking differently about it and the game would be different

@@itzkhiiii Nobody takes it to the hoop anymore. I find it boring watching 3-point ball. It's not just Curry doing anymore but its every team now. I thought he was the one who started the trend. I would still take a young Bird over any player in the NBA today.
