This is obviously a salute Teemu and to all the great players who was on that team that day!
When he slams home that second goal, you get the feeling he has done his job. Drops his stick and hugs the next great guy coming up, Mikael Granlund. It's an awesome moment in finnish hockey. I'm kind of tearing up here.

Finland is a great hockey nation: It has won 2 silver and 4 bronze in Olympics, 3 gold, 8 silver 3 bronze in world championships and silver and bronze in canada/world cup. That sums up 22 medals in major tournaments. And still some teams underestimate them, what a disgrace that is.

Finland didn't even have the best players, and they still won bronze! :D For example Mikko Koivu, Valtteri Filppula and Aleksander Barkov had injuries. So Finland had many KHL "replacement" players. Personally I loved watching this game, Finns played so well together as a team.
Zutgirly Yes this is right! Finland has lot of great players! But not a Superstar! Finland hasn t Superstars like Ovechkin,Malkin,Datsuyk,Crosby,Seguin,Doughty, Zetterberg,Sedin-Twins etc.. This is the main problem of the finnish Hockey. This is the reason if they wo only 2 Gold-Medals. And the reason why Suomi is so underrated. Sorry i like Suomi but im not satisfied with there Hockey and Hockey Style(Eternal bronce medallist?)

No, the "choke" award rightly when to the United States of America. They got a drubbing in this game and went home with tin foil.
408Magenta Well Russia was the host country and one of the favorites to win the gold and didn't even make it to the semifinals. Thats more of a choke then the US losing in the third place game.
When Canada is playing hockey, irrespective, where, when IT is the favourite. Non other. Not even your Philippa and Suterette.

It kinda does. USA, just like Canada were favorites for the gold meal game but they faced in the semi finals instead and USA, the top scoring team in the tournament, were held scoreless. The Americans just gave up when they realised they weren't playing for gold. You can see it in the game itself. All determination was lost. Its kind of sad actually.

USA definitely didn't "give up" in advance, if you ever really watched the game. Bronze medal games are bronze medal games, and the team that is more determined and uses its chances usually wins it, and earns it.

Keep in mind that the 2010 Winter Olympics ice hockey games were played on a rink specified to the NHL rather than the international specifications (which explains why USA and Canada met in that gold medal game). With the 2014 Winter Olympics ice hockey games being played on international specifications, the US definitely showed some struggle, however Canada did not.

Yep. Lets wait for the next Olympic games. Then Rask will get another chance. And Pekka Rinne is BACK. And before that in next year is the WORLD CUP. The last time Finland lose the gold against Canada 2004. But this time Finland has a better goalkeepers - Rask, Rinne and Niemi or Lehtonen.

+Joe Meier Well it was this year of 2014 where the top 3 forwards were out of the team due to injuries. Not only this top 3 but some other really good players didn't make it to these Olympics either. Really, Pihlström and Aaltonen aren't quite Olympic level...
