My English teacher conducted the same experiment, although a bit altered. Most students didn’t conform, which was interesting. Mob mentality is truly intriguing.

Same, it's because they never showed them in the same shot. They had a quick shot of the first line, then another quick pan over to the other set of lines.
People experiencing it first hand would have seen it much more clearly. I'm guessing they couldn't fit both in the same shot without it looking terrible, especially with all the distractions in the background.

The real experiment is when there is a high stakes scenario. A game won't uncover/amplify that behaviour as much as when you are dealing with a situation where stakes are high eg your survival, lot of money is at stake, safety of you or someone you love etc. It would also be interesting to study this phenomenon with respect to age, gender, nationality, education.
Did anyone else get the uneasy feeling that at the end of the video he was encouraging us to stay with the herd? Weird.

You notice how the C people are all alphas. A C person is special and will be outstanding in a a good or bad way.
You're partly right. But Alphas can tend to go with the group if it suits their agenda, then rouse those next to them to ridicule the sore thumb, standing out in his or her own.
I am not an alpha, but I have constantly been at odds with most group thinking, but been proven right afterwards.
Being honest, it still doesn't get any easier being the sore thumb, BUT I cannot ignore my conscience nor disrespect the mechanism within me that is designed to recognise the Truth.

In a group of strangers, people will conform more quickly than in a group of people who know each other, i.e., a classroom.
It is interesting, though, that we may set aside "truth" for "acceptance" and "comfort".
This is why I rather be an outcast and unpopular then following the world. I always say, "I don't use common sense, I just make sense of things." Instead of following fallable humans, I chose to follow Christ...who's Perfect in all ways. 👍

The only thing I didn't like about this video is the last comment, "if you want to stay safe, stay with herd". This is true if the herd is correct. If the herd is running off a cliff, then there is no safety. I may be reading into this a bit. I think the first part was extremely powerful. I think the end of the video sets the wrong message.
