I have the regular sized one. I have it sitting in a plastic bucket 🪣 with the bucket and the kindling cracker attached to a round of oak. Works great. It catches all of the split pieces and all the bark and trash from splitting the kindling. I really enjoy this operation and device. And safer than using a hatchet.
I have 3 hydraulic splitters and all with cylinders that are shot I will be buying this splitter soon. I'm disabled with a paralyzed right side, I can still use my other arm for the time being. Doing all I can while I can. 👍.
I’ve been asking my wife to pick this one in particular up for me for Christmas. We love having fires and I love splitting wood but making kindling with a hatchet is a pain in the butt. This tool looks well designed and makes quick work of smaller rounds with much less effort.
Just got mine today to cut kindling for my Blue Sky Firepit. Just used 1 chopped up 18 inch log for the burn rather than 4 and the pit is roaring!.. stay toasty.
These things are *awesome*! I picked up the original last Saturday and I was amazed how well it splits wood! The only problem is, my area is under a Red Flag fire warning for the foreseeable future!
Balance, precision, and safety. You can put any piece in, not just pieces that will stand upright in their own. You can determine the exact size and location of the split. You are hitting wood with a hammer with your hands out of the way.

I made one several years ago and has saved my hands a lot of damage.Worth it.
Seems safer and more efficient than my had axe. Thanks for the demo.

You mentioned being off the grid. I have been off the grid since I was 5 years old and I like it a lot. 🌄👍🙂
While I'm splitting wood with my Log Splitter, I make kindling as I go along.
I gave up the Axe when I turned 60.

So how is that better than standing a log on a stump and splitting it with an axe?
