    Great idea for home use but for commercial purposes I can split quicker with my hydraulic or axe if needed

    Would you advise having a taller base to mount it on than the one in this video? Seems like being arched over like that may wear on the back a bit. Also, would this be suitable just for splitting rounds in half not for kindling?

      @SilverLiningDayDreams  Год назад +1

      Yes, a taller base would be more ergonomic when standing. I’m hoping in the next week or two to put more thought into using the kindling cracker more efficiently. I’ve been busy helping with the kitchen renovation at my sisters. Also hoping to get a load of firewood.
      I think it may help with cutting rounds in half if the wood is well seasoned and not grainy such as rounds from elm.
      Once I start experimenting more with the kindling cracker I may upload an update video. Take care 😊

    Wonder what diameter log is best to mount it on?

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  Год назад

      I’m thinking a bigger round; maybe 15” or so. I’m hoping in a later video to delve into that question 😊
      Thanks for watching!

    How do you recommend sharpening the blade? Mine is 3 years old and getting dull. Thanjs

      The manufacturer recommends…
      “Only ever needs a quick lick with a medium grade metal file”

    Would you still recommend this product? Any cheaper alternative?

      @SilverLiningDayDreams  11 месяцев назад +2

      We would recommend it, but it is a chunk of money to purchase, so it just depends on how much you’re gonna use it. We don’t regret buying it. There’s a store near us called Menards that has a less expensive alternative and I think there’s RUclips videos out there on how to make something to sort of work in its place 😊
