The way the Eldians live in Marley and how misguided they are is so hard to watch. This story is so incredibly written, being able to make us feel so conflicted about the characters and their choices.

I like the characterization of Karina, Reiner's mom, who seem to spread the hate for Paradis' devils in her family bc "they abandoned us"... with her backstory it makes so much sense
Her scenes give me heartaches and ofc Reiner is one of my favorite characters, that scene with Falco is so interesting, then the scene with his family and the silent exchange with Zeke "not in this room"... so many layers

When Reiner is talking about the "horrors" of being infiltrated in Paradis and how it was like being in hell he really means it but in a very unorthodox and unconscious way. He's talking about absurd and daily stuff he witnessed and how this implied that all these people were not devils at all, but regular people who live their daily lives. He's unconsciously saying that the true hell was realizing all the atrocities he was commiting against all these people who weren't devils at all.

I love the feeling of beeing watch in this episode, every conversation is dangerous, Falco with Reiner, in their on family, in their friends, every word must be pro Marley, in the mainland they are so afraid all of the time

This anime makes you realize that it is the viewers who are actually being brainwashed as the episodes go on, believing what they hear from one perspective, even though there is no evidence to support what is right or wrong.

This is a matter of perspective.
We know EREN and the people inside the walls well and are emotionally invested in them, but if this story was told from MARLE's point of view and we did not know the people inside the walls, we would have seen them as a terrible enemy.
The people inside the walls also had their memories erased and were brainwashed to believe that there were no people outside.
We who are watching AOT may also be in a kind of brainwashing state.
