One thing I've always wondered though: what's Spyro's real name? Like, Spyro was the name given to him by the dragonflies, it's not the name Ignitus gave him. Ignitus has to ask what Spyro's name is when he first meets him (Since he knows he has a whole different life now) meaning that wasn't the name he picked out for him. I also imagine, to fit into cannon rather than time constraints, the reason Ignitus never told Spyro that he was his father or tried to use his birth name was because he felt unworthy to be his father. He had failed to protect him and denied himself the right to see himself as worthy to have Spyro as a son out of the guilt.
I am so happy that there are more people out there talking about The Legend of Spyro and that actually say it's an underrated gem. That is amazing. I've been a Spyro fan since my childhood, and more with the Legend of Spyro trilogy as I love everything of it! Still do and never stop doing it! One of my favorite theories was this one, who is Spyro's father? So knowing that only two candidates are possible, Ignitus and Malefor, makes it even more interesting. Ignitus is actually the most favorite and fitting (and technically canon) choice, he shows a lot of care and attention to Spyro, including his actions and words. Even he is defined as Spyro's parent figure and the animation team made clear about him being the father. And Malefor, is the fascinating twist, like in Star Wars where the hero's father is the villain. I mean, would have been both heartbreaking and shocking if that was the canon. I honestly wished that the original idea of Spyro's father across the games remained, along that they made Spyro question his heritage. If he was shocked about learning his true nature, then why not about his parents? Amazing and wonderful video! Not much edition was needed to make a really fascinating video! Love knowing there will be more Legend of Spyro videos! And glad I've met another Legend of Spyro fan! Also that intro was hillarious! For a future video, you could talk about the events of The Legend of Spyro and what possible scenarios led to the events of the games. Can't wait for them!
It's interesting to hear it confirmed that Ignitus IS Spyro's father ... And that actually adds more complexity to Ignitus' guilt thru the trilogy ... Ignitus makes it pretty clear to the gameplayers that he carries some guilt due to the egg genocide, Cynder's corruption, and even not being able to do much for Spyro's protection aside from floating him down a river Moses-style while still just an egg. But what does this heavily IMPLY ... ... in just a moment of quick decision making, Ignitus - tasked with protecting the Grotto from Malefor's armies - forsook all the other whelps to save his own first! That might be part the reason why he never told Spyro of their blood relations. It even seems like the other Guardians don't even know. The unseen parent dragons of all those other eggs don't know. For Ignitus, that's pretty dark 😢 too dark to probably admit to himself. Can't imagine what that kind of guilt does to the soul.
I'm so happy that others online to this day keep these games alive and see what beaurty they held... Unfortunately the budget/time restrictions greatly impaired the quality of all the games, there is so much to love...
True because then we wouldn’t have the plot armor bs of Spyro being able to pull Cynder free from MALEFOR’S golems grip...XD he wouldn’t have been able to do that without help. XD
I don't know who is Spyro's father in The Legend of Spyro Trilogy the reboot series of Spyro the Dragon franchise, but it doesn't matter who Spyro's father is, but I'll have to say Ignitus is like a father figure to Spyro, because he's a best mentor to Spyro that everything he taught him, and everything that he showed him some wisdoms.
Yes! My guess for spyro's father would be Ignitus who is like a father figure to,him because he's a best mentor to Spyro that everything he taught him, and everything that he showed him some wisdoms.
I mean, Ignitus does look like a grown-up orange version of Spyro, so even as I kid I kinda just assumed he was the father of Spyro. I think it's a bit cliche if Malefor was the dad, which is weirdly what they did to Cynder in the Skylanders Academy series.
It makes me so happy to see people still discussing TLOS trilogy to this day. I grew up on the OG Spyro trilogy as a child and on TLOS trilogy as a young teen. I absolutely adore TLOS and have loved it ever since I first played it. I had no issues with the franchise being rebooted nor did I think about it at all when I first played A New Beginning. My young brain took it for what it was straight away and loved it. Looking back at it now it was as if my childhood friend was growing up alongside myself. As an adult looking back at TLOS I realize how much more it could've been, how deep the lore could've gone, how the worldbulding and the game mechanics could've been expanded upon with each new entry. I still love it for what it is. In an ideal future I imagine a continuation of TLOS story with Spyro and Cynder all grown up, God of War style (Dawn of the Dragon was heavily inspired by the GOW series's gameplay after all), with the past games remaining cannon while the world and gameplay changes and expands. I truly believe it's missed potential, TLOS could continue in this day and age as a seperate universe, existing alongside the new Spyro games that take on the classic Insomniac formula. People love dragons man. Playing as a cartoonish dragon is great, but a serious fantasy story with more realistic characters, much like in Dawn of the Dragon, if done well in this day and age it would be a seller.
You see, people like you are great. You don't blindly ignore all of its faults and just go "It's still amazing and anyone who disagrees is just wrong!", but you also don't _just_ focus on the negatives like: "Yeah it was cool and all but to be honest now I'm older I recognise how shit it is." Because I've interacted with both types, and they're both really tiresome. I love people who are mature yet passionate enough to like these obscure things AND recognise their faults without letting it ruin their passion for it. I wish all the fans of all the franchises I cover were the same as you.
I'd love to see these games get remade with all this information that was left out/cut from the original games (even DotD was meant to have a different storyline than what we got but sadly... we'll never know it) But now I'm curious if Cynder has different parents. Oh god please tell me Spyro and Cynder aren't related!
Thanks! Appreciate the pleasant feedback! If you've got any suggestions slap em' right here and obviously go check out my TLOS playthrough so far if you feel so inclined. Much appreciated!
@@CasualPrince8 A possible theory for your next lore video could be what would happen if all the dragon eggs in the Dragon Temple had survived, or what would happen if Spyro had turned to the dark side? Ignitus said that a purple dragon is only born once every ten generations. That basically makes the Purple Dragon this trilogy's equivalent to the Avatar. It'd be like making a theory video claiming that Aang is Korra's father.
@@CasualPrince8 Eggs vs live birth wasn't exactly the point. Malefor was not only dead until the ending of Eternal Night, but his his essence was trapped on the other side of Convexity for centuries before that.
Like I said, that's something that we have absolutely zero information on, and something I don't even think was considered for the games. I guess that will remain another forgotten mystery of TLOS franchise.
@@CasualPrince8 think about it like this based on the lore of Convexity's history Malefor himself being defeated and his Essence and soul both being ending up in the well of souls and Convexity's portal/alter that in itself is most likely the reason why Malefor is not Spyro's father after he gave into Darkness and as stated by the chronicler he was exhiled from Warfang as stated and recorded in the chronicler's books of time in TLOS The Eternal Night.
I have to agree Infact as far as recorded Even the Chronicler from TLOS the eternal night even stated that Malefor was unlike any dragon born in the dragon race that was able to master the dragon elements including one that would lead to the imprisonment of his essance which we all know was dark aether or the Convexity element hence why the Chronicler mentions Malefor as being the first Purple Dragon but was also mentioned as being cast into exhile after he wouldent stop allowing himself to become corrupted by those dark elements that tainted him with dark powers like Dark Aether and the very elements which all dragons are expected to master when being born hence why he and Malefor are just one of 2 in a long line of Purple dragon born once every 10 generations. Indeed after having his essence imprisoned in the Alter airlock realm of Convexity's central portal I too can agree and calculate that Malefor looses this debate and title of father figure after allowing himself to fall to darkness and the Title of mentor and father figure goes to none other than the master of fire himself Ignitus.
I was actually thinking Malefor was his father as he alluded to it or moreso Spyro was just a Purple Dragon that showed up much later, we dont even know how long was it before or after Malefor ended up in Convexity.
