Using Slime To Seal Any Flat Tire - 2012 Honda Civic

- My wife's car's rear tire had a slow air leak, so I decided to give Slime a try to seal the hole. If you have an air leak, give it a try! It definitely helped seal the leak on the tire I used it on.

Fantastic tutorial! Your use of proper definition in describing each step, especially for those of us that aren't auto repair savvy, made this video the absolute easiest way to understand what I was doing. Thank you so much for taking your time to explain.
instaBlaster.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I just bought a car that doesn’t have a spare and was researching emergency tire kits. I’m sold on this one, thanks to your video.
Rick S That’s a good idea! To keep some slime handy in case of an emergency. I think I may do that as well! Thank you
@@UrbanSleepersOfficial just bought one of these kits myself as well. Thanks for the video!
The most clearly filmed & explained video I have seen on this subject - and I’ve watch quite a lot recently!Really excellent level of detail and clarity of demonstration - thank you!
Excellent clear and concise instructions. This is how How-To videos should be made. And thanks for the education on the slime kit. I will be ditching run flats and going with regular tires and a Slime Kit from now on.
Thank you, I appreciate the positive feedback. The Slime Kits have saved me a couple of times from being stranded on the side of the road, so they’re worth having around.
Thank you!!! I looked and looked around and nothing was an explanatory as you. I actually was able to do this without my husbands help! Thanks!!
This video helped me today and for that I'm so thankful for how you explained everything so clearly!
Thanks so much. I've had this kit in the back of my car for a while and I have to use it this morning. Wish me luck!
Literally just used this after watching your video. The valve core tool was super easy and was able to do what you did. Squeezing that bottle starts to be a pain when it gets close to being empty but it is what it is. Thanks for posting!!
Thanks for the comment and I’m happy it was able to help!
I had the Slime in the tire for about 2 months without an issue. It stopped leaking air, but when I had to rotate my tires, I had the small hole patched by a tire shop. The tore was just like normal once winter started in this area.
PSI listed on tire is maximum, not recommended. Recommended is on driver door jam sticker.
Great video explaining slime. Thanks!
You’re welcome, and thank you for watching my video.
I don't seem to be able to get all of the Slime. material out of the bottle. Any suggestions?
Love the blackedout/murdered hubcaps. I've done the same with plastidip on my g6.
I tryed the pressure type slime in can. Has a flex filler stem that screws onto the inlet.
Its got Worked great..
Interesting video.
I read about this sticking well to the wheel. Are there issues when putting on the next set of tires?
Very easy 👌 & simple explanation
Good video I fix my electric scooter tire yesterday has small leak holding perfect
Thanks, this is very helpful
Try doing this with your car on a jack, makes it easier on the poor old pump.
Mike Jung thank you for the suggestion. That air pump had been a reliable work horse and has never failed me
Good job
Great job.
Do you need to get your tire balanced again??????????
Hi my friend i have one question did you remove the objekt from your tire or did you live incide
Hi, thanks for video. Is slime safe to use if you have psi sensors?
Respect
🗣🗣🗣On the road again #hallelujah
How about a close up of that "valve core" or whatever it's called. Lots of good reviews I think.
tim smith Thank you
@@UrbanSleepersOfficial every wheel is a different size..so you need to not the amount you put into each tyre... too much and it damages the wheel bearing because the wheel is not balanced ..its only good for trucks and agricultural ..slower moving vehicles that won't feel the shake as much... cost me a stupid amount to fix my audi because the installer didn't realise the he was putting too much in.. your putting ounces of unbalanceable liquid in a tyre that takes grams to balance... that must cause untold damage over period of time...more fibres less liquid could solve it tho...the liquid is heavier i would think... it takes a quite a few miles for the wheels to stop shaking as the liquid spreads around the tyre..its fine on slower roads but not on uk motor ways..were we can cruise at 70 mph or german autobahn ..good idea...needs work..a liquid that could turn to a gel when the tyre gets warm then it could help with the shake???....
Yes that brings up a good point. If Slime could be made to become more evenly balanced as the gore gets warmer because it can certainly damage wheel bearings. I see your point in that.
Shrader valve core
Will this work in big leaks I have to fill my tire up once or twice a day
If the leak is too big, then it'll need to be patched up. Try Slime and see if that temporarily fixes your leak.
Mord Fustan
If it will hold air long enough to take it for a drive it will probably work
Would it not be better to have the tire removed at a shop then use a paint bush and coat it real well on the inside then have the tire remounted so the stuff is in there even all the way around so there is no balance issue?
of course professional help is always better...clearly this is the quick/cheap method
Sure ill do that on the highway when im broken down 🙄
How long did it last? Were there any problems with the tire after you used it? How did it do through the winter?
I left the Slime in the tire for about two months before I got the small hole patched up at a tire shop. It didn't leak at all, but I just had it patched for a permanent fix.
@@UrbanSleepersOfficial When you had it patched, did you cleaned the slim off the inside of tire as well? or it stays there kinda glued?
@@realmouvement patch goes on the out side 🤣
@@thebowieman621 You're right it does, but on the bottle it says to leave it in no longer than 3 days or 160km (i think?) before cleaning it out. I'm curious about this too. Kal-tire said it was a mistake to use it, and that it makes patches harder, but I really don't see how it would. Maybe they're trying to sell us a new tire :D
Ir works thanks for the slime idea

I have a nail lodged in the tyre and it isn't losing any air at the moment. The tyre shop advised to use a tyre sealant as the nail is lodged near the edge and he can't repair it. If I have to use this type of sealant, should I remove the nail first and then deflate OR deflate the tyre by removing the valve and inject this liquid. Basically, I am not sure at what point should I remove the nail ? Your advise will be very helpful. Thanks
Did u figure it out
Either way will work, but you might find the tyre won't pump up if the hole is too big once nail is removed so maybe get slime in first to be safe.
However best advice is just replace the tyre, this stuff is meant to be an emergency get you out of trouble temporary fix.
I use it in my push bike tyres, it's in all the time and has saved a couple of punctures but not always worked and I've still had flats, once I know a tyre is punctured I will patch it even if the slime has sealed the hole.
In a car or motorcycle I would not be driving far or fast relying on this stuff.
I don't know if you can put this in the rear tires of an awd cause of the diffs.. One tire will be heavier I suppose.
Raider Of The Lost Fart If you were to weigh the tires, the Slime would make it a slightly heavier, but the weight differences between the tires would be very minimal. You won’t be able to tell the different driving the car as to which tire has Slime.
One issue I've found with that 16oz bottle is that it's hard to squeeze. The liquid is very thick. I'm a man and it's hard on my hands: I'd imagine that for a woman it'd be really tough. So buy the larger bottle (mine is a full gallon: cost $29) which has a pump on the top. You just lean on the pump and the required amount is inside the tire in no time. And you have most of it left over for future punctures.
jeffw1267 thank you for the advice
Can you give me the name of the portable air compressor that you are using ?
The air compressor brand is Mammoth, but I bought it from Ross.
The slime tire kit comes with a compressor
Not tpms safe, seen that take out tpms sensors
Just bought this and mine did not come with the piece on the end of the compressor? Is mine missing that part?
So yours didn’t come with the piece to remove the inner stem from the air stem? I would return or trade the Slime you purchase and get one with that little part. It’s very handy and necessary.
You can buy a "valve core tool" off of amazon
What about the sensors?
Anyone have issues with badly out of balance tires after using slime?
I’ve heard of people having issues like that, but I’ve used it many times and haven’t had that issue.
How well does this work for leaks on the side of the tire?
do not use if you have a leak on the sidewall....get a new tire
You're also supposed to drive for a bit to coat the inside of the tire
Is the slime safe for tire pressure sensors?
From my own experience, I never had an issue with my pressure sensors during nor after using Slime.
BAD ADVICE: Slime is for temporary repair. It does not harden and can cause vibration at high speed.
HamishNYC Yes, it is only a temporary remedy to tire issues.
The manufacturer says it can be good for 2 years.
@@martinfiset you mean two years in the tyres, or two years in the can while it is stored in the car?
Hey bro great detailed explanation on the repair kit. Do I have to remove the nail while i use this repair kit?
from what i've seen elsewhere, you should...and if you do that, you should also try a plug kit too.
Does the slime mess up wheel base? Can I replace the tire later easily?
It doesn’t mess up the wheel base at all. It sticks to the inside of the tire, away from the rim. The tire can easily be replaced or properly patched later.
But what if my tires already flat and the nozzles on the bottom and it's winter?????
maybe jack and rotate?
Does the slime stick on the inside of the rim after you replace the tire?
No, but it does stick to the inside of the tire.
Won't this leave a HUGE mess and hard to take off/clean when you change to new tires?!!!
When you use Slime, it only covers the inside of the tire, not the rim. So if you buy new tires and the Slimed tire is replaced, you don’t need to worry about cleaning the old tire. Plus, it’s not difficult to clean if you had to remove it from your old tire.
is this used as a permanent repair or temporary?
It is only made as a temporary repair
temporary - yellow label is only intended for up to 3 days
Did it work?
Yes it did, the tire hasn't leaked at all.
+UrbanSleepers Official that's awesome! Love the videos. Especially the dart ones;)
+Jaime Gutierrez Thank you, I'm glad you've checked out the other videos!
can you use this after using fix a flat ?
You may be able to use it after you use Fix A Flat, but it will most likely not fix your leak permanently.
The slime won’t go in
Does it mess with the psi sensors?
When I used it on the Civic, it never affected the PSI sensors. The sensor still functioned on that tire just fine.
0:48 I can't seeeee
Can this sealant be used in bicycke tires as well, anybody knows that?
yes
They make a special type of slime for tube tire and bikes.
This destroy the sensor of my tire,it cost me more than just getting it ordinarily fix.....
I’m sorry to hear that.
Garden State
Sorry, what is your car type?
Mentira ese compresor no levanta aire a la llanta se debe levantar el auto con un gato y en el aire si infla
isn't it the same pressure as topping the tire off form 30 to 35psi etc.?
DO NOT pour this stuff into your tire❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
I had run over a nail, the tire pressure sensor kept coming on. So I brought it to a garage, they located the nail & removed it, then they plugged the hole to prevent air leaking. For a month, it was great. After that, same thing happened again 🙄🙄
So, I came across this Slime stuff on RUclips, and saw someone showed me how it's done by deflating my tire completely, and then squeeze this slime stuff in.
Once the tire is completely deflated, I squeezed in the green slimy stuff, and took out my portable air pump. The air would NOT go in. Luckily, I lived less than a mile from my regular garage. I took the chance and drove there on a complete flat right rear tire - I know it's not good fory car, but I was desperate & short for time.
My car mechanic after fussed with it fir a few minutes as I watched them trying to fill air into my tire with their heavy duty air pump, no air would go in. Then, he took a slight sharp tool and pried inside and saw the green slimy stuff. He told me whatever you had put in there is preventing the air going in. Now, it's killed my tire, and the only way is to replace with a new tire.
Do NOT put this thing into your tire❗❗❗❗
ये कहा से मँगाया ओर क्या प्राइस में आता हे plz अन्सर देना
Wouldn't a totally flat tire damage my rims?
Yes, if your keep driving in a flat tire, it’ll damage your rim because you’ll be driving on the bare metal.
it is my understanding that these spray sealant damages rubber. it is for temporary use only and the tireshop has to clean the tire from inside after. when left over a month it would destroy the tire.
Slime is water-soluble and is not supposed to damage the rubber. I'm no chemist but I've had no trouble with it.
You are a fucking liar, first of all this isn't a spray sealant it's a slime substance with tiny tread pieces mixed in it, 2nd this slime is water soluble it does no harm so no leaving it in for a month would not destroy the tire this is not acid this is SLIME for fucks sake. MORON!!
I left it in my tire for two months before getting it permanently patched up at a tire shop and it didn’t damage the inside of my tire. It didn’t affect or deteriorate the rubber on the inside of the tire. I’m actually surprised it held up for a couple of months!
Only a moron has to use language like that to answer a question, just saying. Grow up loser.
I would walk before I would you that shit. It ruins tires.
I’ve used it a few times and I haven’t had any issues. It hasn’t messed up the TPMS either. Having a 3 year old, Slime has kept us going to safely make it to a tire shop to permanently fix the tire.
It says to have it on the bottom lol read directions
Readers ., Never Ever use this Slime junk ! It’s like putting a heavy ballon inside the wheel , throwing your tire out of balance and if you live in a cold climate this product can freeze like a rock inside your wheel .
You have to drive the car a couple of miles after using, which evenly distributes the slime around the wheel. I have used this on multiple tires, and never had a problem. I live in Pennsylvania, we have plenty of freezing weather.
That shit is a waste could of got a $40 used tire now you gumped up the sensor and have to get a new tire and sensor $200+
Complete myth. The slime is water soluble and just washes off.
Yes it is water soluble and can be washed off from the inside if the tire easily.
STOPPPPPPPPL , THIS IS NEW FOR 2018 , USE FLEX SEAL TAPE AT A REPAIR SHOP AFTER TIRE OFF RIM , DOUBLE THE TAPE AND YOUR LEAK IS REPAIRED FOR LIFE. * *SEAL FROM INSIDE ONLY*
TIRE WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THIS IN THIS VIDEO AND IT WILL LOOK LIKE YOU NEVER HAD A LEAK IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
TRY THIS??!!
will this fix a slow leak from a crack in the alloy wheel ?
