Did exactly that very same job two weeks ago. Only differences I removed the rocker cover and it came out much much easier rather than forcing anything out of the way. I put on a stainless steel unit in the hope it would last longer.

YES another MINI video. Just purchased a 2003 MINI Cooper S (R53) with a John Cooper Works Tuning kit ---> 15% supercharger pully, JCW Remapped ECU, JCW induction kit I think and a JCW exhaust. 200 bhp I think, great fun to drive !!!

Nice job James. I'd put some protective sleeving on that o2 sensor wire though where it's running against the edge of that heat shield.

I had same issue and then the mesh connection broke off. I just straight piped it. And it sounds very nice. Don’t know if you can do that in the UK.

Great video, will this scan tool programme new diesel injectors on toyota hilux? Apparently you need to go through a "learn" cycle?

Been binge watching all your vids. getting prepared to swap out the exhaust on my 06 r50 base. little disappointed with the underwhelming performance. any recommendations on other small upgrades to give a little boost? hoping ill get a tiny bit out of better exhaust
I have a 2001 mini one yes it's a pile of scrap but love it . This weekend changing exhaust for sports one and video will help me do mine thanks

Hi have you done the power steering pump on the mini just wondering how easy it was or how hard it was as I've just bought a mini that needs some working doing on it at the min my steering is not the best as its slightly hard I've checked my fluid and its low so don't know if that's the problem till tomorrow as I'm going to New fluid in and see if that's the problem and is there anything that I should keep a eye out for

Hi thanks for sharing this video .I was wondering do you might have a clue what’s happening with my mini as the readings of the b4 cat oxygen sensor is reading at 1.53 steady and the after cat oxygen sensor is reading like yours 0.7 and I have a increased mission light on. ?????? Help!
James the Topdon ODB reader your using does it stream live ABS data or just clear the ABS codes ?

Correct... while in closed loop and up to running temp, sensor 1 reading will bounce up and down (lean to rich) while sensor 2 should be constant (indicating the cat is doing it's job). Had the same on a Zafira with the same engine as your Astra... turned out the cat had completely disintegrated with bits of it rattling in the silencers. Still bloody ran though lol

Hi, my check engine light on today . It say catalytic converter defect . But I have change it one month ago . Anyway I erase the code and check engine light gone . So my question is will it come back again. If so how long it will take to come back. Thanks

I drove with bad kat about a week but no engine light on and after I drove another week without Kat no engine light on . When I change my both Kat and drove 500km not engine light. Then I put fuel injector cleaner and drove another 150 km . And after engine light on and it says on my obd2 Kat defect.

I have the same issue...km 135655 2009.Mini regular not turbo...I have the engine light on for 6 months now but I am not experiencing rough idler..Can I still drive the car even the engine light or would give me problem down the road. PLEASE ADVISE..thanks

My Toyota Yaris 2008 had a P0420 code, I was told having a aftermarket one is risky coz the code can come back up again, so 3 garages have told me to get a genuine Toyota one and Toyota said it will cost be around £400 including vat to get everything fixed. But loads of garages have said putting a higher octane gas will clear it out, I’ve done this and I think it’s worked as the light hasn’t come back on since May.
Existing manifold has a pre-cat. Your new one doesn't appear to have one?
I feel like u should paint over the chrome with black plastic dip and look at investing at the new style mini headunit with the screen a company made one which plugs straight into ur year of mini
My mini engin management light comes on when I've done a long distance or high revs.. comes up with emissions...how can I sort this ? Thanks
What tends to happen when the head gasket goes is silicon used to seal gets into the cat. Had this happen on a c3.
Had same code on missus Clio, rarely used so a good Italian tune up and some millers no more codes and that was 6mths ago

You should have used anti-seize compound on the o2 sensors because if they are taken out again you might not get them loose?
Good vid. Could have taken the top engine mount off and pulled the motor forward to give a little bit extra room.Well done describing the voltages, you could have said the pre cat sensor is switching (instead of jumping around) as it shows rich/lean.
I'm having this same code on my r56 cooper and I'm thinking I need to replace the cat as well.
Wow looks like a dose of cataclean might have sorted that. Yes do an autopsy plz James. Happy p0420.
Mind you it was probably knackered by the bad head gasket so maybe check the fuel trims for rich etc.

My Cooper is using allot of fuel and tiny bit sluggish sometimes. No engine codes tho. Could this be it?

Don't know how I watched the entire head gasket series and didn't notice that on the top side of the front wheel arch guards there are eyes on the front.

I have a complicated question when the engine isn't on but the ignition is on my dash works and sound but when I start it the led switch doesn't work or the sound but from the outside my indicators work anyone know what's going on? I did replace the radio and this happened Ive checked all the fuses looks fine I have an s r53

Get that handbrake adjusted, looks more like a second gear stick!! ;-)
it's so easy to adjust on bmw minis.
Air leaking into the exhaust from a crack or dodgy gasket/ flexi will cause the code as well
You really should get the bmw hockey puck for the jacking points, your relying on a piece of plastic to hold the weight of the car, the Jack points just pop out and deform if jacked wrong.

My 2012 mini clubman D keeps cutting out. The half yellow engine light comes on nd then the car cuts out. My obd reader isn't showing any codes...

I just had to fix the p0420 code on my cousin's polo a couple of weeks ago, we just put some wynns catalytic converter cleaner in the fuel tank and cleared the code after a couple of days and it seems to have fixed it.
That would be my 1st call before buying a new cat
@@wenstafarni yeah we thought we might as well give it a go for only £8 and it has seemed to have done the trick
Just be careful when reading o2 sensor voltages. On some cars the sensor 1 should read a constant 1V, like on the golf mk4. Just so you dont change sensors for no reason
Hello :) I have Opel Astra 1.6 16v z16xe engine. I have code P0340 only when the car is in operating temperature. If I switch off than on, the code appears and check engine light, and it's in safe mode (3500rpm max and it's lazy) Is that bad ECU?
Predrag Vujić you must replace the camshaft position sensor then remove the Codes then should run perfect again if not disconnect the ecu for 10 mins then pulg it in just make sure the battery is disconnected
those gloves take a battering!!! i recommend toolstation's Palm Gloves to work on cars

Could try and clean the post cat sensor, worked on my mk4 gti
Or even throw a bottle of cataclean through the system with a good hard/ hot drive, it can re-sensitize the cat
why dont you get a chest cam and use both hands .adam does with his sierra cosworth ,
Had identical after a head gasket went bad coolant kills internals of Cat usually
