Geoff's voice was amazing back in the day, one of not if the best live voices ever in metal. Even for his age he's not all that impressive today, compare him with Bruce Dickenson who's about the same age and he's fallen off a lot less.

Listen to the lyric from the original recording of this track.
"I've always known that the MIRROR never lies" He hasn't hit those notes in 20 years & won't sing anything off the first few albums because of it.
I don't blame him, Geoff had fantastic range back in the day, but has a mainly low register. Most singers lose their high end with age, but it was bound to happen to Geoff because he had a deep voice to begin with.
Todd is lucky to have a high register so he probably won't encounter this issue with age.
Aside from that, I saw the footage of the way Geoff behaved toward his bandmates on stage, spitting in Scott Rockenfield's face repeatedly & punching Wilton in the face before the same show.I lost all respect for him as a person at that point.

I think Geoff was incredibly important to their success, but so was Chris. Often times it is the combination of elements that is what allows both to achieve more than they would have apart. I dont think either would have been as successful without the other.

@@christianperla7126 What’s funny is your use of the term “underrated” to describe a singer who is in fact very highly rated. His skills as a vocalist have never been in question by anyone with any knowledge of this music. Either you’re unaware of the meaning of the word “underrated,” or you’re deliberately putting forth an idea that is patently false.

@@christianperla7126 LOL. Nothing is more random and ridiculous than this hysterical need to label just about everyone on RUclips “underrated” in some sorry and misguided attempt to project that you are in possession of knowledge that the rest of the world is ignorant of. Geoff Tate is not “underrated” by any stretch of the imagination. I know it’s asking a lot to expect people today to understand the meaning of the language they choose to use, but you might give it a try just once, OK Sparky?

I get chills every time he sings…he has what most singers dream they had! He makes it look so easy and that shows just how much better he is than most ! 💕

Wow, I don't usually double comment but...
What's with all the haters. He's older, and by proxy so are his vocal cords. He adapted his style to fit his age and if any of you trolls that are complaining about it are like me and grew up with QR, I challenge you to get up on stage and do better.
