- Friday, June 29th, Geoff Tate and his band stopped by The Eagle Performance Stage to play some songs for us, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of "Operation: Mindcrime". They rocked the entire album that night at the Aztec Theatre.

You can’t replace Geoff’s voice. He’s still got it!!
Geoff is Geoff. He alone is complete Queenryche. Without him I don't think there was any band called Queensryche.

Everything I loved about Queensryche is Geoff Tate. I know a lot of people have their blah blah arguments about the continuing band - I don't care. Tate was the reason, and the ONLY reason, that Queensryche were ever successful.
No one could ever replace his voice.
Really wish his backup singers were better.
He needs to get back with the Ryche

Sounds fantastic. Fun note: When I was 19, Geoff and his family came into the pizza restaurant I was working at in Woodinville, WA. He was incredibly down-to-Earth and very pleasant. Will always remember that. :)
I used to live down the street from him when I was growing up. He always struck me as super down to earth and pleasant.

Great song. Great singer. sounds great. Everyone talks about slight changes to the song, but how many singers from the 80's could sing it the same now as they did then. I appreciate that he still can do a very good job , and enjoy hearing it from the original singer

People he can still sing it, ive seen him live my whole life even a couple years ago and again in a couple months. He changed it up because it’s acoustic. Even Chris Cornell changed up everything when he did his stuff acoustic. He still whales it guys and he’s 60. Can’t wait for the show in March , he’s doing 2 albums complete . Rage for order and empire and you can bet there will be 2 encores from operation mindcrime .
This! I’m not sure how people can hear his vocal quality and think he has lost any ability. I can hear that his voice has aged, which I should-the man is in his 60s and recorded this song about 30 years ago. Your vocal cords become less supple and lose elasticity as you age. But his technique is still on point, if not better than it was 30 years ago as he makes up for that so his tone is very similar to the original. I also think people hear how the studio version of a song is produced/mixed and find lack when hearing it live. Imagine walking into a studio and casually belting these songs out with a hand in your pocket, holding your latte. It takes talent and skill to sound like this.
Just browsing and listening to some classic Queensryche. Saw a link to these sessions with Geoff Tate. Fantastic!! The series would be awesome packaged as an acoustic album - It would definitely be added to my collection. If he comes to the UK anytime after the Covid 19 nonsense, I am there.

He did go through a period where he didnt sound very good live but whatever issues he had he has seemed to have worked them out. He sounds pretty damn good here.

Probably took a much needed break. Saw them twice back in the day, met them all and roadied for them for a day. All awesome guys, and he was on top of his game. To hear him hear and now, he still has it, unlike many from that day. Kudos.

Still Love Geoff Tate! My first Time to see him was at the Operation Mind Concert in Houston in 1991 saw him live in Concert 6 times and met him in person in 2010. I listen to him all the time! He’s one of the Greatest Artist I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot.

@3:00 is the only time I have ever heard Geoff Tate off key for even a second, I know he's had to have been plenty of times , it is just he does such a great job at recovery you barely notice

I saw Queensryche open up for Metallica the year of operation mindcrime when it came out 1988? Anyway they fuckin blew the doors off of Metallica .. Peoria Civic Center. Peoria Illinois. I was in my late teens.

To anyone who thinks a band isn't just about the singer? Let's be real. Bands are the singer. Tate is Queensryche. Tate needs teeth whitener. Out of the 3 songs, this is my least favorite to be honest. Still amazing, just saying the other 2 are so off the charts it's hard to compete.
The singer is usually the most important to recreate the sound of a song, but there are many cases where the singer wasn't the most important in creating the music. A good example is Rush. They would have had a very different career if Neil Peart never joined. Another example is Boston.
I don't know in the case of Queensryche how involved Geoff was in the writing of the lyrics and music. An important part of Queensryche was the guitar parts in addition to the singing.
The singer is why we like a song. At the same time when the singer can't sing anymore or has an "off" night, the drums or guitar or bass can't save it. To me, this is Queensryche. Might as well be.
