- We filmed this video in Ashton, WV on a farm that Jon currently lives and works on. During the short period of time that I have known Jon, he and I have became great friends. He wrote this song about about moving down to West Virginia from Michigan and finding peace in our hills. We plan on releasing more videos of Jon in the near future.

Can we all take a moment to thank the incredible sound engineer at Radio WV!!! Amazing work!
Great music. Wish they'd make a channel on Pandora!
People dont realize how much talent is in appalachia
Some of these big rock n roll and country artists from the 40s and 50s were from Appalachia lol
There's more coming out of The Mountains, I see it every day...
Just when you think America has lost it's collective mind, you land here.....and realize there's still some "young" good ol' boys left......
Im 30, might be considered young. He moved me to sing and I have a SONG or two to share.
@@IronStoneHill Sing 'em, I bet we'll all listen!!
you nailed it buddy
The media wants you to believe we're all different and in a war between our selves, but we're not man.. we feel and know.
I've made so many new friends over the imposed "contention".
All races of Americans, know what's going on, and the real Ines don't give a damn what color you are, or what you even believe.
Amen to that!!!
Damn. His voice is like thunder
So much great music coming out of Appalachia man
One of the great things about technology. It allows pure talent like this be discovered.
Always been there, I was born n raised with it. The best pickers n singers in the world come out of Appalachia in my opinion. The bad thing is the best ones are commonly too poor to get it out there for anyone outside of the holler to hear it. True story.
I’ve just discovered it, I love it
@@TrainTFFT there’s more talent on here than signed artists on the radio
Always has been.
WOW. I am
So thankful I found this channel. The talent in here is awesome. Real music Real people. No California bs glam
Dude... That up-strum is PERFECTLY placed. so much subtle power in your instrument and voice. You're incredible.
He is definitely hell with that right hand.
I am but a boy, though I own a heart as old as coal.
Searching for something in the forests where I stroll.
I am out here, cause I got nowhere to go..
The open air, and the trees are known to soothe the poorest soul.
I run and hide to sleep under an Appalachian Moon;
pistol by my side I got nothing left to lose.
Left my heart in the city, for you but you killed it, when you wouldn't say 'I Do'.
You better love me, 'else I'll be leaving soon.
You better love me, before I leave you with this tune.
You better love me, cause I won't be back again. & I know you won't find a better rogue & ramblin' man.
I am the gentle warmth of the Sun's morning gleam;
I am the cool comfort of a cold mountain stream;
I am the Wolf's eye, in the dead of the night;
I am the tip of the arrow in mid-flight.
Where do I roam?
Nobody knows. She don't care so I'm getting close.
I'll keep walking these hills... Ain't got nowhere else to go.
So glad Logan Halsteads video list lead me here 🤘
Same here... I'm a huge fan of Americana music... and it is so great to hear bright, new, young talent.
I'm old... 70... but persue new music with as much passion as I did as a young man...
The algorithms found us. I'm coming across others... delighted.
BTW, I am a working musician... and have been for 50 years. I'll play till I drop.
me too Bro, me too!!! And i'm 61 always lookin and listenin!
@@thomaswalz3515 me too Bro, me too!!! And i'm 61 always lookin and listenin!
Came round the same way, i jate new "music" but this is music.
When that voice sank out this kid of what, 17. Wow.
Edit, and dang near 6munutes long.. ohh eee
Same here bro I haven't stopped listening to both videos the past 2 weeks
This is what music is missing today-great talent like this!
Absolutely amazing!!! When he opened his mouth and started singing I was blown away I did not expect that kind of voice. This kid needs to be out in the spotlight
He's in the biggest spotlight on the planet. Sunshine!!
Me too!
Most Appalachian people aren't looking for fame
Hell yeah my guy!!! Bringing country back
I was lucky enough for him to show me this song tonight. For anyone wondering it's drop b with a d instead of c#. Shout-out to jon for being such nice guy. If you read this thanks for the lesson it was awesome talking to you .
Why is this guy not famous get chills listening to his music he deserves a record keep rocking brother your almost there
Colter Wall & Jon Bassin have given me hope for country music (which i've sworn off of as death by pop music long ago).
This kind of country music is a grizzled outdoorsman, bearded, fishing in the woods compared to the majority of eyebrow-tweezed, manicured, manufactured, mass-produced 'country' of today.
This video went from 7k views in the beginning of the year to 152k. I'm glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves and he WILL blow up soon.
Some of the best music I have ever heard echos through the hollers like a howling wolf. Heading straight for your soul. Talent is everywhere just dont need bright lights and electricity to find it.
You’re a dam poet...
Tyler childers proves this over and over again
that would make a great song lyric
Well said brother.
This man tought me to sing. Thank you does not begin to describe my gratitude.
Best original song I've heard in quite awhile... I love the low tuning.
Was gunna say the samething its colter wall style voice with tyler childers style guitar tuning and you get this guy..
@@cryptonator1988 Sounds better than that fake ass low "Colter Wall" voice. His voice is cringy.
You know what tuning he's in ?
@@joshuagoudie2849 drop b with capo on 3rd fret so if you wanted just tune to drop c#
Beatin the breaks off the ole 6 string... he's so good!!!!!!
Goddamn sing it boy! Proud Wv man here, born, raised, still here, wouldn’t have it any other way.
How no one ever told me about this song ?! what a love song for the Appalachian girls who love it here ❤
This boy has a voice like a wolf howlin'. Hits me with the chills just the same
Call me impressed and proud to be from the Appalachian foothills.
I'm not sure the first time I heard this but I know it's been played at least 1k times in the last two years just in my phone lol
I am the tip of the arrow....in mid flight. Dang bro this is good stuff!!
Just when an old man thinks he has seen and heard everything, here is @Jon Bassin, Nice job son. 🙏✌😎
this Old Dog..........................
Was thinkin the exact same thing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When the boy started singing it literally sent a chill up my spine like my grandfather talked. To me from the afterlife
Played this song about 300 times in the past week. Went thru the whole channel and found so much good music ive added into rotation
I’m blown away with this this , recovering from heart transplant at 68. God blessed me 2 time . A beautiful heart and this channel.
simply a boy sitting in the yard with his guitar, the energy he delivers hits different
Maaannn this is good! Between him and Colter Wall, Tyler Childress I cant keep my hands off my guitar! And the writing, such real deal stuff from the lyrics to that 2 or 3 bar rest. This cat has got IT.
This might be one of the greatest blues songs ever written
Respect from North Georgia! This is the music of my homeland. God almighty this is fire
I believe half of everything I see and nothing I hear but I believe all of this. Goodness gracious!
Damnit man!! Thank her for not saying “I Do”, I can feel the pain in your voice, see the anger the way you pick those strings, and hear your heart breaking to this day. Damn fine sound you have, that, sir, is real country music!
That long note at 2:08 sounded like the Bon Jovi strained vocal. I think he's done a great job on this! As a West Virginia native, this is what I like to call root-bearing Americana.
Jon is one of the most kind hearted and humble individuals I have ever met, and yes , not only does he have a gift but he has soul
That's one other thing that I noticed in this video. You can see the emotions and the lyrics almost come to life in his voice. He also plays the guitar emotionally too, and I think that's amazing.
This song is great wv radio has found some amazing music. I really hope this artist puts out more. There is so much potential here!
God I wish I had half this talent
This is something I'd write from the soul. My family comes from WV. I am surprised. I love this. Keep killing it brother.
Mountain music has always been the best! North Carolina boy right here
rarely I see something this ... real
Dont see too many females chimin in so I'm gonna say WOW!! love the sound! Great vocals!😍 keep it up! Love to y'all!!!💚🤎
This is the most personal song I've ever felt...I wanna screen hell yeah!!! But I know this is the lord's work...for heavens sake!!!
Ditto
thanks, a boone county born WV citizen here, all the way down in Alabama, good tunes
Boone county born and raised here!
First the personality in his voice gets ya. Then the character in the guitar keeps you watching.
How does this song not have more views?
282,000 views at this original FB posting .. facebook.com/1808407139282477/videos/328863434355112
If Nashville would take its head out of its ass, you'd be playing the Opry and topping country charts right now.
Sometimes I have a hard time listening to your songs Jon. I see ghosts of family members a long time gone floating thru my mind. Keep grinding.
Don't think I've ever resonated with a song so closely. Amazing talent. Thanks for existing
This boys voice should go platinum. Holy smoly Batman. This is gold
Gotta love the algorithm for recommending this song gonna check out the rest of your music in love already
Wow, I just love this song and especially the performance! Of all the songs I enjoy on radiowv, this is one I want to listen to the most. Just grabs my soul and holds on, this one touches me like few others do! I love the drum added to the song. I instantly feel better when I watch this performance and I love his voice, all I can say is wow! There is hope for music after all!

Good job!! I'm a 63 year old Saw Dust Savage from Oregon living in Los Angeles for the last 35 years. You're wearing Chuck Taylors, the same shoe I've been wearing since I was in 3rd Grade. They're a great shoe to go out in the world and kick some ass!!

Big Alice In Chains vibe. Love it
Lord man gotta love this appalachian music hits the soul
Found this song on Facebook by accident. And gotta say hes gonna up big his music is some really great stuff
I don't think he's doing it for the come up, I believe he's making music from his soul. He's already made it big.
Good sound killer lyrics great tune from them Appalachian mountains
Looks like ain't just a country boy who can survive. Country is as country does!
I didn't expect that voice to come out of this kid when I first saw him!! Good job bud!
Dude that double base kick on the low e was fricken awesome, hit me in my soul and made me fall to my knees, ooh good song man, fellow guitar player here!
He's gonna end up big. I'm calling it now.
Jon is my best friend, I believe in him as i believe him to be special just as many others do. We will help him any way we can
Doesn't look like he had a poor diet...why would you say that?
Absolutely a great song👍👍👍

A strong baritone... we are brothers of a different mother... Good stuff!

Complete badassery!
You obviously are one too! Look at my face. I shouldn't like this. I wouldn't be a man if i hated on this.
His voice projects he sings from his heart and Soul love this. With the right direction and guidance he can be big
This guy's voice is pure and good like Francis.
You know when they play it raw and when you can see the tension in the arm, you know its real
Gotta be a baritone guitar.
Awesome tone, awesome lyrics, Nice camera work too. Good job boys.
That golden Appalachian sound... i do believe is taking over. Fu@& yeah
Appalachian GOLD. He man handles that guitar!
