Nice camp, and a nice view in the morning too! When I saw that bottom plunge pool I was like "might send them a message asking where..." then i hear Gareth with "I'm not telling you lot the exact location of this" 😂 Getting my Sherlock hat on it seems 🕵
Great video again. You mention Tics, when I was in the forces in the 80s I obviously spent a lot of time out doors. And I can't remember any warning to us about Tics. Do you think Tics have only become a big problem in the last 30yrs or so? I have never been bit by one, midges yes, they love me lol 😂 😂
If you could make it up to Derwent valley in Derbyshire, the remains of the flooded village buildings are visible and accessible due the low water levels. It fascinating to wander round.
a real gem of a location with lots of potential for a return in warmer months......obviously armed with lots of Smidge and bug nets for your heads. Nice one G & Z. ATVB from a sunny and increasingly wet Malaysia 😃
Hi GnZ, Superb! Love it. You mention pump for mat. I don't go without Flextailgear tiny pump, which doubles as lamp in the tent. Great little thing. Take care, Kev
Another excellent vid from you two. I find it interesting that you find smidge works for you. Last year in Scotland the midges were taking swimming lessons in the smidge and then getting their friends to join them. It definitely didn't work for me, but the Deet did. Keep up the good work.👍👍
It's probably one of those things that might be effected by skin type or perspiration makeup. It's the only reason we can think of. Keep meaning to try the electronic bracelet type things. They're supposed to be good.
You are such an Adventurous couple who compliment each other, that was certainly not a trek for the inexperienced treker !! I never see any of you refer to map or compass. During my military day's I always had one close to hand. Well done keep sharing. Dave B. Thailand.
Thanks Dave. This was an area we knew really well (up a valley and back down the valley) so no real risk of getting lost. We have map apps on our phones too. If it's up in the mountains though we always take OS maps with us Incase we get proper lost, but tbh we just 'wander' about getting lost on purpose, finding places off the trail. If we followed maps we'd only ever stick to the paths. If you follow our drift?
Wow! -very nice campsite[s] especially when you found those pools... it looked like there was more tailings from a mine upstream. any idea what was being mined in those parts ?
Great location, camped there a couple of times myself over on the opposite side. The midges are out in force in that area! Vids are great, keep it up 👍
I thought you were going to tell the old Bob Hope joke about the golfer who lost his cap in a cow field next to the golf course and tried on three before he found his own...
This felt - and probably was! - way too short. And I really could have done with those last few minutes of following the river and pools being stretched for a few minutes longer. Thanks for a very cool beginning to my weekend Gareth and Zoe.
I can just see it: ”Zoe’s annual cow paddy run, $20.00 dollar entry fee"……….😘🤣 Nothing like being all sweaty, and having a bunch of ferns rubbing against you, and itching for the next three days. The river looks great!
I thought about trying to find the mine round there. When I was up that valley last time I could see your spot from the other side. Apparently there's one tunnel you can go in with a big engine wheel or something inside. Is that where you were trying to get to? Brave getting down that hill, looked well dodgy! Cheers for the vid guys. ATB 👩&🐕
Really good. Getting a kit ready for next years summer ( hopefully ). Getting from start to the trail, relatively unseen, with a backpack, and a backpack that's inconspicuous. Once in and on the trail, hopefully, I'll relax more. But yeah I like your take, as in, get somewhere hardiest, where hardly anyone would likely to go. Good, really good inspiration. Any advice, appreciated.
Well summers relatively easy to blend in with other hikers because you can get away with having a smaller rucksack (most people carry rucksacks when hiking). If anyone asks why you've got a big bag just say you're fitness training for something. Can I ask where you're from and the reason for the above? We just tell people we're camping if they ask. They're normally highly surprised and interested.
@@GarethZoeWildcamps I live in a small town in the North West. Maybe I'm a little overly conscientious. I was going to hike around the Lakes, but I needed the rucksack, but it wasn't to be. And next year ( hopefully ) I'll have the affordability to not be bothered by cost and buy reasonable good quality and throw caution to the wind. I do go hiking, that's my thing, and sometimes I stop at a spot and think, if only I had the kit, I'd stay the night.
Jason, we can assure you if you're pitched up in the lakes (highish up a hill / mountain) no body will bother you at all. People pitching around the lowland lakes get moved on but you'll be fine up any of the hills / mountains. Just pitch away from any main paths and be sensible (ie no fire like) and you'll be grand :)
Twigs smouldering smoky smoke is only way keep critters away. The lamp will attract certain things which are then near to you. Smoky smoke only way forward. 👍🇬🇧
Bugs that go towards the light are going away from us thankfully. But only works with certain bugs. Yes smoke is best. Can't have fires on the Moors though, too risky with stray embers
A another good thing to determine if you have walked through a tic infested area is getting gaffa tape and wrapping it sticky side out around you hand and putting yourself down, tics stick to it and show up against the white of the sticky side 😉
You should take a look at Back Country Navigator, think I paid £10 for the pro version and it just runs on Bing maps, so full on OS. Got pretty much the whole country stored on my phone too :) Stunning location you've found there.
Not as cheap as that, but OS Maps app has got it's act together again after a bumpy upgrade process and all of UK at 25k and 50k is £30/year, all downloadable. I've used it loads and find it excellent.
Hi, great vid as usual. What is it that you treat your clothes with? No heard of it before. Thanks. Managed to pick up some ‘smidge’ from go outdoors today. I remember using 100% deet in the past. Combined with camouflage cream it’s quite a cocktail that the midges loved 😂 Ordered a snugpak elite 4 on your recommendation too 👍👍 Thankyou
Deer tracks I follow most time as they give away a path through. That’s not an easy way to trek. Mine flood draining off and seeping through. More noticeable during heavy rain. 👍🇬🇧
I pretty sure I know exactly where you are, although I'm not gonna give the spot away but I'm fairly certain that scar on the opposite side from you starts with an S and a B... If you're not where I'm thinking, you're definitely very close to it.

We're not sure but Lymes has increased over the years and thats the worrying part regarding ticks.
You found a great place to wild camp, complete with its own swimming pool. Well done Gareth & Zoe. Thank You and Stay Safe.
One of your better ones this. Loved the ruins
If you could make it up to Derwent valley in Derbyshire, the remains of the flooded village buildings are visible and accessible due the low water levels. It fascinating to wander round.
"I think that's definitely it" - what a phrase :D
One of the best places to WC, very dreamy guys. great stuff..
Thanks Jade 😁
Nice one both, enjoyed that! You both always make me chuckle, proper as it is camping!

Really enjoyed todays video as always Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Hi GnZ,

You mention pump for mat. I don't go without Flextailgear tiny pump, which doubles as lamp in the tent. Great little thing.
Take care,

Thanks Kev. It's funny cause we've just reviewed one of their pumps. But it was their boat pump 👍🏻
Wow!! Excellent finds! Lovely banter between you two as usual. Cheers from Florida! Back to cleaning up the yard from Ian.
Thanks very much. Have a great weekend
Beautiful. Especially the brook/river.I’d love to try tenkara for trout in that.
Thanks for the nice video
Mosquito coils to keep bugs away in camp.
Gareth "you might want to keep watching because we might die", Gareth & Zoe found footage, lol.
Looked like a nice spot.
What a wonderful place to camp.Beautiful hike.Enjoyed this video.Thanks.
Brilliant video you two, really enjoyed it thanks for sharing.
Thanks John ☺️

Great spot, those waterfalls are amazing, great swimming holes for summer. I’m enjoying your videos from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks Greg, very much appreciated

Thanks Kai, we didn't want to bore you all too much lol. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend 😁

No itching thankfully (well, only from the midges). Unfortunately it was the only way into camp from that track. Still, worth it in the end
Excellent!
Great video and excellent location. Nice one.
Thanks Mark ☺️
Amazing looking place...👌

I would have been in them plunge pools straight away 👍
It was bloody freezing 🤣 it can wait till summer!

Yep,,,, Yorkshire,, 😍👍
Nice adventure guy's
Thanks 🤩
Always entertaining 👍
Was the tent as wet as it looked in the morning? When you first put it up I liked the look of it… not so much on the morning 🤔🙂
It was sodden in the morning yes. Silicone tents when wet expand slightly so need the guy's tensioned. It's a characteristic of the fabric.
As someone who lives in the Yorkshire dales, I 100% agree with everything in this video.
A brilliant place Guys, how do you find these lil' gems!!!??
Legwork really. Just exploring off the main paths. Curiosity always gets the better of us 😂
Turd Frisbee 🤔 Moving on !
Only in the North....

I love your boots Zoe, any information on where to get them? ❤️❤️
I wouldn't bother, if you watch our latest video they've cracked after less than a year. Getting a refund on them.
Great vid as always , watched something earlier about new stove called lofi stove titanium maybe you could do a review as they look ideal
Cool, do you have a link?
Hi the link is called kickstarter , hope that helps👍
Not really lol. Kickstarter has thousands of products going to market. We meant a URL link?
wow, i had to google how big the yorkshire dales are...... 841 square miles.
where i live, jersey, it's 48 square . wow !
At least it's never far from the beach though 🤣😎
@@GarethZoeWildcamps true.... that is in my 'soul'

It's Lifesystems Permethrin. It's for clothes and textiles. Kills ticks and insects on contact.

Being from Lincolnshire you've never seen the beauty of gods own county come back soon
1 of us is actually from Yorkshire 🤣 We go into Yorkshire most weeks tbh
Now we know why aussies have hanging cork screws from their hats lol
Wheres the paddle board review as I can't seem to find it 🤦♂️

Last time I saw oil in the water like that, it was coming from a dead sheep upstream.
Oooo I wonder if it was a dead sheep.

Hello 👋😁

Was a lead mine???
Yes, shut down through lack of lead though over 100 years ago.
Your taking to many risks even while filming, be king careful.
No extra risks taken, we were taking the route anyway 👍🏻
