If you value your freedom and understand that the constitution doesn't prevent you from being arrested, you can use your 1st amendment right to free speech to talk your way out of trouble. Or you can take the route that apparently a lot of commenters would of using your 1st amendment to record, your 5th amendment right to remain silent, let the cops respect your 4th amendment right by legally obtaining a warrant for the evidence you recorded of yourself breaking the law, then you can use your 7th amendment right to trial by jury. Do you see how using MORE of your rights isn't ideal? If you are standing in front of a judge and paying attorneys to argue all of this in court this is the LEAST practical way to enjoy your FREEDOM!!! Do as you will relative to the legal situation you find yourself in and understand every action you take impacts the outcome of your human experience. Yeah and then you don’t record and you get that cop that’s going violate you and possible beat you and claim you were resisting and suddenly you don’t have your best evidence… it’s always good to use your constitutional rights. There is no sense in not recording and not remaining silent about things that might incriminate you. You can do all those things and still de-escalate and be cool with the cop… your comment isn’t legal advice but it also isn’t good practical advice. The cops love this advice though. They love when people don’t use their first amendment to record because they have less accountability and they love when you don’t use your fifth amendment right because they love when people snitch on themselves… this advice is just hoping that you don’t get a bad cop or a robo cop stopping you. But the fact is that most cops are either bad cops or robo cops. He has just as much chance of being arrested or cut loose whether or not he was recording. Boot lickers are gonna lick I guess
@@kaynesovereign9372 ahhh yes. The “amendment to record” one of my faves. The fact that sovereign is in your name makes your entire opinion absurd. Came across your short, just wanted to share some quick thoughts as an LEO: My agency used to have a zero-tolerance policy for "super speeders," i.e., anyone going 20 mph over the limit on any state maintained highway. Any person going 20+ over would immediately be arrested under the reckless driving statute. No tickets, no warnings. It was really unfair because it didn't allow us to consider the full picture like tailgating, weaving, traffic density, and road conditions. Clearly, you weren’t being reckless; the roads were empty, dry, and you remained in control of your vehicle. Under our old policy, though, you’d have been arrested. Thankfully, after enough of us complained, the policy was dropped. That guy clearly has issues, he was trying to flex his authority, which I’ve always found disgusting. Believe it or not, most of us, at least the men and women I work with, hate writing traffic citations. I always say there are enough a**holes to give tickets to, so when I have the opportunity to cut someone a break, I do it. 100% of the time. We all do stupid things. It's should be our job as LEOs to TEACH our community, not to turn their lives upside down. And I will die on that hill. It's not hard to determine if someone is genuinely being reckless or just having a lapse in judgment. Unfortunately, not all of us are good at making that call.
@@fbi1490 I have 13 years in. I work in PA and the magistrate doesn’t want us to stop anyone until 15mph over. People don’t realize how much policing varies across the country
I always pulled over as soon as they turned on me or if i blasted by them parked. Cops are usually pleasantly surprised by that and i was never written for speeding on a bike. They usually said “thanks for stopping”.
I drive for a living. One thing I never do is speed in a small town. I'll do 8-15 over on a highway but when I get into a town, I go the speed limit. Local cops will bust you for doing 3 over just for shits and giggles.
i just posted what i went thru,, up above,,, its a long reply, but give it a read if you will.. it's similar situation,, and around the same area..... but as your comment says,,,, it's what scared me the most,, it was a small town,, i felt like i had seen this movie before somewhere.... like a Horror Movie.....
I've been pulled over for doing 6 over in my own town after buying a new (to me) civic si and he was like "YOU LIVE RIGHT UP THE ROAD FOR 3 YEARS? YOU KNOW THE SPEED LAWS HERE!" I had temporary plates from an out of state private sale of the vehicle and thought I'd do the legal thing instead of slapping my own plates on the car and driving it back home.
ESPECIALLY if you have an out of state or out of county tag! They’re confident that you won’t come back to court to dispute the ticket. They figure you will just pay the fine!
@@waynep2123 small town cops also hate to show up to court for non locals they expect to pay the fine. they have less tickets per day. so showing up for one speeding ticket is something easy to get out of
This comment right here…Perfectly said. Highway is easier to speed just call it the wolfpack rule im following the flow of traffic. In small towns! Speed limit ALL DAY!
1. Never stop filming the police. It's your right. 2. There is no statute of limitations on uploading your personal video of police. 2nd Amendment auditors do it every day. 3. Never stop filming the police.
There is no statute of limitations on uploading your personal video of police but there is self incrimination and providing evidence that can be used in your prosecution which would be stupid.

Yeah, ultimately it didn't really matter because I was doing 20 over in a 45, and by the time we hit the 35 zone, I was down to 55 so the speed was consistent 20 over.
@MrFuzziiWuzzii if there are multiple turn ins for businesses or side streets, or even just 1 crosswalk, a 35mph speed limit is totally justifiable. Zooming past business entrances at 50mph is pretty unreasonable. American roads are strange because of how spread out everything is. I'm accustomed to drastically slowing down on major freeways for small towns growing up in the west coast, as many other Americans should be.
Very seldom do I disagree with G&G, but man I can’t believe he thinks cutting off the camera is a good or smart thing to do. Because of other people videoing and acting like jerks doesn’t mean having your own recording isn’t a smart thing. You have no idea of how things can change during a stop regardless of how civil you or the officer is acting, someone else can pull up you don’t know. Fight in the courtroom, not on the road. Let's remember that these cops are people, too. They can have bad days, too. ALWAYS RECORD!
I’m not telling people to do anything other than being situationally aware. If you can’t understand that this cop was 100% justified to arrest me and recording him doing so had NO value to me. @@MotorsportCreative actually had I been arrested it was my video evidence of myself committing a crime against my word. Recording the arrest wouldn’t have helped prove my innocence, it would have given them access via warrant to prove my guilt. Always record is the worst advice ever because situational awareness should ALWAYS guide your decision making, not rules created by people who have seen a handful of bad police interaction videos on RUclips. It lacks a greater understanding and context of how you and your actions can contribute to NOT getting arrested for crimes you have committed and just go home instead. @GearsGadgets as a former cop I can tell you to absolutely NEVER stop filming a cop. They taught us ways to trump up charges and get more revenue up from stupid charges that technically aren't crimes
@GearsGadgets you already recorded yourself breaking the law though. Had he wanted to, he would've arrested you, then seized your memory card as evidence of your crime. Recording your actual arrest won't hurt you at all unless you "act like an idiot" BUT if he decides to fly off the handle, the excessive force would be recorded instead of his body cam and dash cam "malfunctioning, weird huh?"...

My father was a cop, uncle was a cop, my neighbors are cops, that cop was a jackass. He ended up coming around but the initial interaction was unnecessary. Why would he tell you you're going to jail and let you ride off to the Dairy Queen on a motorcycle. He's probably a decent guy but started out all kinds of wrong. I only say that because of what he did for you and "then" wanted to chat you up.
Yeah it was strange. I also think letting someone you just told that they are under arrest and going to jail put distance on you is not tactically sound. Had I been a bad actor who was armed, I would have had all kinds of time to pull a weapon. Typically speaking I would think a cop who informs someone they are under arrest would do so as they were cuffing and controlling their body movements to prevent potential dangerous escalation.
@@GearsGadgets Almost like he threatened you with arrest as a way to bait you into running from him, and increasing the charge. Because a lot of guys on bikes would run if they felt they were about to be arrested.
I have a little experience in law enforcement in the military. That cop was just pinging you to get your reaction. He thought you would be an ass and maybe take off. When you remained respectful you put your self in the best possible situation for the best possible outcome. You are absolutely correct in following your instinct to deescalate the situation any way you could. That cop is a small town cop usually board out of their skull in between responding to kids shoplifting bubblegum. You were respectful and he in the end respected you back. You were honest at the outset and the cop also knew that too. He was probably surprised to see someone taking responsibility for what they had done and was more or less throwing themselves on their own sword being humble and the cop realized taking you to jail was more work than was necessary and no public safety interest would be served.
Man, I got caught without a license while trying to tune the carb on a dirtbike. My tail light was out so he stopped me to let me know. I was honest with him, and he was cool. how citizens of any state could allow that kind of dictatorship is beyond me. adding arizona to the list of places i’ll never visit or spend my tourist money at
This is crazy,,,,, I'm from California, i ride a FXR Harley, back in 2001 in August, i was on I-40 passing Holbrook AZ on my way to Grants New Mexico at around 2am,,,,, i had locked my throttle at 74mph...... i was moving right along in the slow lane, , when all of a sudden i passed a State Trooper vehicle that was on the center divide, with all his lights off..... He then began to give chase (i guess you can call it that ). he entered the highway behind me, with lights/siren on but he was in the fast lane.... i didn't really think it was for me, i figured he was called to an emergency, i began to approach 2 semi-trucks ahead of me, so i unlocked my throttle, began slowing down, one of the semi-truck switched lanes from the slow lane to the fast lane, i thought it was weird that he was passing the other truck, at the same time that the trooper had been gaining on us on the fast lane.... i thought to myself = "THIS TRUCKER IS CRAZY, HES BLOCKING THE TROOPER,, HE'S GOING TO BE IN TROUBLE FOR INTERFEERING WITH POLICE BUSINESS...." THEN ---- i started slowing down because i was gaining on the semi-truck ahead,, ( I'm used to in California, you move out of the way, highway Patrol will fly by you to get to his emergency....) As we came to a stop, i maintained my lane position, thinking the emergency is in front of the Truck ,, not realizing i was about to be shocked.!!!!! i realized we ALL slowed down to a crawl.......... the truckers were blocking the road, TO STOP ME.... and i wasn't even running... trooper was in the fast lane , i was in slow lane The Trooper turned his siren off, and over his PA system, he instructed me to pull to the shoulder, and throw my keys on the ground... (i was so confused)... i followed his commands, he pulled behind me lights still on, he gave the truckers each a wave, and thumbs up, they shifted in gear , and went on their way..... The trooper was not happy, said he clocked me at 75mph, and the speed limit was 55mph in that corridor... i told him i was positive it was 75mph, because i saw the sign and made sure to lock my throttle at 74mph or as close as possible to it to avoid any problems........ He said that the speed limit dropped, and the new posted speed limit sign was approximately 20ft from where he was parked .... i told him i did NOT see that sign, or else i would have slowed down................ Needless to say, i was arrested for criminal speeding, on a Saturday 2am,,, the Trooper said he was doing me a favor and allowing me to DRIVE MYSELF to jail, to avoid impound fees. i was in jail till Tuesday, said they had to run my name and background, and wouldn't release me until i was cleared. I was clean, and i was released.... i believe they have speed traps on that I-40,,, easy money.... i haven't ridden thru since then, and never want to ride thru their ever again.... NO THANKS.....!!!!!! They can keep HOLBROOK, AZ all themselves..... (sorry, its a long comment, but it brought back flashbacks when i saw this video.. it's probably the same trooper,, almost ready to retire,, but still at it.....) Stay safe out there..! @@HuckBuddies I had a pretty good idea how it would turn out. I assumed I was going to be arrested because he told me so. I also knew I don’t have the right to NOT be arrested. I also knew I wouldn’t resist. So with all of these facts combined with the fact that there are 20 million police encounters a year in the US and 99.99999% of them are completely justified and uneventful, I had odds in my favor understanding that being arrested isn’t breaking the rules. Now on the flip side, knowing all of this. I also knew I was going to do everything in my power to use my people skills to change the course of those actions. Turning off cameras was a strategy that I used and ultimately, it worked. Again, this just one play in a playbook of how to interact with police and shouldn’t be dismissed. Situational awareness is critical.
Always record cop. Literally your 1st Amendment right. Cop starts with threats of arrest and lies about speed first 55 in 35 then changes to 65 in 35. You turn off cameras so he can plant drugs? Maybe hurt you? Cop cameras stop working, get knocked off. Not to mention you can literally make money from ticket and get rich from recorded civil rights violations. Always Record The Cop!
That is correct, I missed the 35 MPH zone change because he turned around on me (almost looked like he was going to hit me), then spun around and got on my tail so I was paying more attention to that than signs at that moment.
The opinions in this video are ridiculous. Each person has the right to handle the situation as they see fit but your reasoning on parts of this are just illogical.
Well my reasoning prevented me from having to argue my rights to a judge so....... Everyone is free to do as they please but getting to argue in front of a judge shouldn't be viewed as the pinnacle of victory, being free to go home should be. This cop could have thrown criminal speeding charges on me AND proved it with the video I filmed of myself doing it after legally obtaining a warrant for the evidence, then the recording of my arrest would have just been administrative and hardly a viable defense that the cop was wrong for doing so. Maybe if I put up a fight like an idiot I could have tried to goad the officer into doing something wrong on camera OR I could have just picked up additional resisting arrest charges.
Criminal speeding needs to removed from the law. If you are not thrashing through traffic and actually being dangerous or driving in a manner that could cause loss of control rapidly it should not be a criminal act.
What? He could have thrown him in jail and booked him for a court appearance which might have landed him with a 30 day custodial sentence. Instead he ticketed him for 10 over. All cops could take a lesson out of his book. Who cares if he put the frighteners on.
There is NEVER any reason to NOT pullover. Even if the number of people who got away exceeded those who got caught or died running, the reward will never outweigh the risks of turning a misdemeanor into a felony or worse, a fatality. I found your video through a auditor. I’m drawn to a statement that you made about the stop. That was something to the effect that you found it of no value to keep your camera recording. Two things any aspect of your rights can’t be used to bring a crime against you. So above all your freedom of speech your right to keep your government accountable in the operations of their duties is something that all soldiers gave and sacrificed for us all. You bargaining yhe god given right which is therefor your protection against a power driven authoritarian tyrant like that cop is something I can’t agree with. Your comparing the person who says run and turning the camera off as some knuckle dragging Neanderthal. Bro that a bad comparison! But let’s play devils advocate if you ran keep the camera going. Do you understand there are Rights even for the criminal who’s charged? I’m sure you may feel a mouthy citizen deserves a worse outcome then one using politeness! A cop crosses the line when he tells us shut up or shut your mouth or if you don’t shut up I’m arresting you! All illegal The Supreme Court case that directly addresses the issue of profanity directed at law enforcement is Cohen v. California (1971). In this case, a man was arrested for wearing a jacket that said "Fuck the Draft" on the back. The Court ruled that the jacket's message was protected speech under the First Amendment, even though it was offensive. This case established that offensive speech, including profanity, is generally protected unless it falls into a narrowly defined category of unprotected speech, such as fighting words or incitement to violence. While Cohen v. California doesn't specifically mention law enforcement, its principles have been applied to cases involving profanity directed at police officers. The general rule is that cursing at a police officer is protected speech unless it constitutes fighting words or incites violence. It's important to note that while profanity may be protected speech, it can still have consequences. For example, a person who uses profanity in a way that disrupts the peace or interferes with a police officer's duties could still face charges.
Overall I appreciate your attitude and response. However, I don’t know where the myth of “you should never panic brake” comes from. You should always brake (safely) if you are speeding in front of or when coming up on cop. Especially when they turn around to gauge your exact speed like in this scenario, they will not be able to prove you were speeding. If you are approaching and they have a radar it will throw off their reading. Braking is not somehow a license for them to give you a ticket or an admission of guilt. You would have saved yourself this whole interaction by simply throwing out this illogical mindset of trying to “play it cool.”
Good on you for genuinely trying to be a good human. Be careful taking that too far and giving up your own rights and safety. Recording your encounters with state officials that have the power and authority to arrest you or worse is the smart move and doesn't require putting anything in anyone's face nor proclaiming the knowledge one's rights...it's just something you quietly do for your own protection. There are *plenty* of cases of officers performing unwarranted searches of vehicles during traffic stops and seizing valuable property under civil forfeiture laws, for example. I find it interesting that you recognize the officer's egotistical and overly-aggressive approach which caused you to be overly concerned about using a "de-escalation" strategy and worried about triggering the officer with recording, but at the same time fail to understand why some people use the term 'bootlicker'. Clearly you aren't, but it isn't your job to deescalate anything, particularly when there isn't anything to deescalate in the first place. Of course it would be dumb to antagonize officers doing their job but clearly there's something wrong when normal citizens doing normal things must live in fear of the state taking their property or freedom on a whim. If recording an officer causes problems, you were already F'd and didn't make anything worse.
You were doing 20 over, so you had a ticket coming. You handled it well, but remember speed traps exist in those towns for a reason. They are revenue generators. I see a 18 wheeler every morning when I get off work pulled over in the same spot. I have literally been speeding past an 18 wheeler that was probably doing 7-10 over get pulled over instead of me who was doing 12-15.
There was no chess here. It's just checkers. Cop exercise authority, you submitted. That's why you didn't go to jail. There were no special tricks pulled, the cop never intended to take you to jail unless you didn't submit. They've trained you well, serf.
If you are susceptible to being swayed by people who have 3rd grade playground bully arguments, then sure. Do you see how using MORE of your rights isn't ideal here? Personally paying attorneys to argue all of this in court is the LEAST practical way to enjoy your FREEDOM!!!
You did wrong and owned it. That cop was a douche to start off the interaction like that. I've had a couple of terrible experiences with law enforcement in the past. I never do more than 5mph over the limit and keep my head down. I hate interacting with any of them.
I'm not interested in giving my background but I will tell you this. Always record your interactions with police officers. Especially one that is aggressive from the start. I good office will not be offended. You can record and be respectful about it. It's your word against his and his word trumps yours in court unless there is more evidence.
See the problem is, I WAS speeding so him being good or bad was irrelevant. If he wanted to arrest me, he could. He could have also seized my GoPros as evidence and obtained a warrant for the footage which would have made my defense nearly impossible. If turning my cameras off had ANY impact on the officers decision to NOT arrest me for criminal speed, then turning the cameras off was undeniably the right thing to do. This idea that cops “shouldn’t” be annoyed by people recording them is so disconnected from human behavior I don’t know where to begin. People are people and most people are very annoyed by people putting cameras in their face while they are tying to work and cops are CONSTANTLY being armchair quarterbacked by everyone and it HAS to be exhausting.
I've had SEVERAL police interactions in my life, and you handled that great. Everyone always says never to talk to cops and all that, but sometimes if you just be respectful then things will go okay.
The key is situational awareness, you can talk to the cops without self incrimination if you slow down a bit and are intentional with your communication. It's why I stumbled when I said "I've been coming from Boulder", I knew I wanted to small talk, but my nerves also got in the way a little bit which I am sure the officer felt as well. Several times I said "I did not know that, I am sorry" because it was a way to apologize without acknowledging intentional wrongdoing. Just gotta try your best, especially when you are smart enough to know you did something wrong.
Welcome to Arizona where criminal speed which is 20 over can land you in jail. In the metro areas of AZ 99% chance DPS will arrest you if you’re doing 84 and higher.
He said he doesn’t like to use cops for content and that’s 100% fair. But keep the camera rolling for your own protection and store it for personal use
Being a safety officer, he should recommend the local govt to post more signs or raised ridges on the road before each speed limit sign, for the sake of SAFETY
It's not douchey keep your cameras rolling during a police interaction police have been trained to write their report in a way that suits their narrative and not what actually happened
It’s not douchy to record your interaction with law enforcement. You don’t have to post it but they are recording. They record because video evidence convicts.
To each their own! But there's no way I will bow down to a tyrant just to have a chance to escape from a consequence that I deserve. If I sped 20 over and the law allows me to be arrested, that's on me. Arrest me, take me to jail. Fine! But my rights will be on full display. That's not pride. That's having dignity. How do you avoid consequences? Don't commit crimes, don't violate traffic laws. Not bow down and give an absolute no one, wearing a uniform, a bj lol
if i have ever seen a speed trap, that was it. he waited like couple 100 feet at best, so anyone who was speeding before they go to that sign would be a (super speeder)
Unless your camera has video footage of you committing the crime the police are actively accusing you of. In this instance, the cop had every right to arrest me and would have obtained a search warrant for my GoPro's. At that point please explain to me how having video of him arresting for the misdemeanor he accused me of committing which I had recorded would have helped anything. This "always record" mentality has this presumption that every cop is going to pummel you when in reality the overwhelming majority of police interactions have no force involved whatsoever. Me peacefully being arrested and accused of a crime isn't illegal.
@GearsGadgets the crime was already recorded. Regardless of whether or not you turned it off, if they decided to get a warrant they would already have footage of your crime. In the instance had things turned physical you wouldnt have any evidence to protect yourself with.
@GearsGadgets You already filmed yourself doing the crime. Stopping recording of the interaction is of literally no benefit to you. The point made about self incrimination didn’t matter in this case, you already filled the infraction. Not recording the interaction just makes sure you have no evidence or defense in court of your stop went left and your rights are violated.
@@MrFuzziiWuzzii well if you live in the real world and realize there are 27,000 arrests per day and only 1-2% of those require use of force. I played the actual odds, not the sensationalized social / news media odds.
You handled it like a champ, Dan. You’re right, show respect and if needed, you can always fight it in court. I get tired of reading the “bootlicker” comments on these types of videos. 100% of the people making those comments are the mommy’s basement, keyboard warrior losers.
We need good cops now more than ever. We’ve got a massive epidemic of open drug use on our streets and parks, thugs stealing carts full of merchandise from stores without any repercussion, and auto theft out of control. Speeding? Really? Let’s get serious about that “to protect and serve”.
Buddy the "open drug use" is because "we the people" (women) have voted in politicians that are soft on crime and tough on regular citizens, we have opened our borders to the third world and we are becoming third world. Police are quite literally not allowed to arrest for drug use anymore, only sales. Which even then they hardly do because of pushback from the voters who elect politicians
What you said about the change in demeanor of the cop after the issued ticket really resonates with me, especially as a former sport bike owner, who has never ran from cops. The fact you were polite and actually pulled over should have been a clue for the cop you’re a respectable and accountable rider. Obviously mistakes can be made by anyone and in this case you. But ultimately, the officer was not concerned about being respectful back to you until his “business” was concluded.
I was caught doing 100 in a 55 in jerzy. Walked away with a seat belt ticket and I am brown. Descalated and apologies for being an idiot. I have it all on camera too. Just be cool and calm.
The 20+ reckless aspect wasn't something that my department had a whole lot of discretion over for many years but your demeanor was how I wish all interactions played out. My main comment is that the DQ you pulled over at has great burgers and old fashioned dipped ice cream cones and we always stop there for a snack.
I got arrested two months after my dad died. Was sitting watching the cars on the highway from a visitors area with a friend. The cops were searching the area because someone stole a lawnmower from Lowe’s. My tag was dead and that was what caught his eye. I knew from the second I saw his lights I was going to jail. I had xans, some roachs, and a tiny amount of X. Told the girl with me to just say she didn’t really know me. Cop smelled weed, pulled us out the car. Found it all in pockets where I put it, to have it on my person (no sense in both of us getting in trouble). I was nice the whole time, polite and respectful. X is a felony so I knew I was in deep. On the way to the jailhouse me and the cop started talking, and I was just honest. My hero died in my arms, I watched the strongest man I know turn into a walking skeleton. He didn’t charge me for it. Just two small misdemeanors
That looked like a lot of distracted driving to me when the driver was interacting with the gear as much as he was. You didn’t see the speed limit sign because you weren’t focused on the road.
Definitely a thug cop with a bully disposition. What a jerk! You were respectful and kind. These type of knuckleheads give police officers a bad reputation! I was pulled over by AZ Highway Patrol last year in Phoenix and that guy was super friendly, kind and respectful. This guy chose to be a rude jerk and he obviously needs some help for his insecurities. Yes, he’s human but this is his job and there’s and expectation of professionalism that is required!!! I hate this 20 mph over criminal speed law here in Arizona, wish they’d change or eliminate it!
That cop looks like he hates his life and gets a tiny spark of joy from threatening to take motorists to jail for minor, victimless traffic violations.
Full story: In Arizona, 20over they can arrest you. Cameras turned off to maybe help de-escalate. He was able to get Cop cooled off, didnt arrest, wrote ticket for only 10 over.
You did good, one mistake don't ever turn the camera off especially when some hot head cop tell you that u are going to jail, police should be k as long as ur nice and explain that u have camera on. 90% its ur word against theirs and if u don't have proof that they lied ur are screwed. But defiantly have respect and be nice if ur spoken to with respect!
@Paul.Breaux they have radar in the car that can do that. Not sure how it works but it does. Some of them even have it front and back. If you come up behind them fast and slow down they can actually get your speed
That is VERY untrue, cops have a TON of discretion and truth be told, they can arrest you for almost anything, it would be up to the prosecution to determine if it was worthy of pursing the charges. If you have a poor attitude, it can absolutely change the progression of the encounter. Litigating your constitutional rights on the side of the road is NOT how it works, judges are who make that determination and your goal is to NOT have to see a judge in the first place. You have the right to remain silent, but you also have the right to use your words to talk yourself out of trouble. It is a fork in the road that you have to decide based on situational awareness on which path to take.
I have a right to use my words to talk myself out of the situation OR berate the police officer for being an asshole and a tyrant if he's stepping on my rights. you are definitely a bootlicker brother @@GearsGadgets
@@jessegardner33 then you will fit in well with all of the other people in jail who put their pride ahead of their freedom to berate an officer who could care less what you have to say and will just toss a couple additional charges on you to fight. I am proud to be on this side of the legal system being called a bootlicker by those who don’t get it. You have the right to use your words, but you also have the right to remain silent. It’s a fork in the road and from the sounds of it, you might want to look more into the silent option.
“Panic braking isnt playing it cool” Is not a smart mentality. If youre speeding and see a cop, Hitting your brake is better than “playing it cool”. If you dont theyre gonna think either youre not paying attention or youre ignoring them, neither are good.
Panic braking is signaling to the officer that you knew you were speeding. Makes it a little harder to respond "No I don't" when the officer asked "Do you know why I pulled you over". I didn't create this theory I just agree with it.
The other thing is, if a police car does any maneuver near you, then immediately pull off the road as safely as you can. If they pull out from the median or flip around behind you, then you know you’re getting pulled over. There’s no point in running or “playing it cool.” You know you’re getting pulled over. If asked, you can say you saw a vehicle making quick movements and wanted to get out of their way.
@@GearsGadgets yes its signaling to the officer you knew you were speeding, and are slowing down. Like many of the LEOs in the comments are saying, the most cops dont like giving traffic tickets and would much orefer to not have to tell you you were speeding. Saying “idk” if they still pull you over for that, after you braked, would be kind of an insult to their intelligence. So just dont lie and say “i was speeding” A traffic infraction is still an infraction, its upnto their discretion whether to enforce it or not. Im sorry you got the book thrown at you by an asshole cop over nothing
Bro. Shutting the video off during a stop especially after being told ur being arrested. was kinda dumb. I mean sure. Getting on the cops nice side. But. From a legal standpoint. Should things have escalated already with how angry he was over the speeding. With how much of a hassle woulda been trying to get footage from the department of the incident U very well woulda fucked yourself more. On to of getting a felony speeding charge and or had your rights ACTUALLY violated should the cop have lost it.
The only escalation would have been “hands behind your back” and I would have complied. This idea that cops are pit bulls who just attack everyone is obnoxious. There are 20 million traffic stops per year but everyone sees a few videos and assumes cops are just out fighting everyone. Statistically it’s just not accurate. Again, I WAS IN THE WRONG. From a legal standpoint, if I got arrested the cop would have seized my GoPro, obtained a warrant for the footage, then the video of my arrest would have been absolutely useless unless he was the 1% of interactions that included force. That 1% drops dramatically when you as the citizen don’t physically resist, which I wouldn’t do because I’m not stupid. So I will take my 99%+ odds that filming my passive arrest after committing a crime that I accidentally videotaped all of the evidence for wouldn’t have been very smart at all. Again, ZERO value in recording getting cuffed after committing a crime, cops ARE allowed to arrest people.
@@deletelawz1984 just because there are videos of police doing bad things doesn’t mean that is then the majority of police interactions. This is the root of the problem is people seeing the statistical anomalies on social media then treating it as if it’s the majority. It is a cancer to peoples ability to view things objectively and everyone has lost sight of one’s ability to effectively communicate their way through life because of a video they saw in the news or on RUclips. In the US there are 50-60 million police encounters annually, the 99.99999% of them are uneventful encounters, not the handful of videos you’ve seen. So YES it is safe to not record the overwhelming majority of them.
As a law enforcement officer in Phoenix, and I used to be a Navajo County Sheriff's Deputy in Holbrook before moving down to Phoenix, in my opinion there was better/other ways to handle that on the troopers side. When he said you were "under arrest" technically speaking you were under arrest for criminal speed, but its officer discretion if he wants to take you in for criminal speed or just write you a criminal citation (which it seems like he did neither and just wrote you a civil citation). In my personal opinion you did great and didn't do anything to escalate the situation nor did you do anything to disrespect the trooper, which i respect as a LEO. In the world of traffic stops and law enforcement in general, respect should go both ways and it goes a long way, if you respect the officer/trooper/deputy, they will more than likely respect you. Thank you for posting this video. Stay safe and have fun riding!
That whole area is full of nasty speed trap kinda areas. You'll be on something that's 65 then drops to 35 and sometimes down to 25 through the towns off the highways. Not always much warning either until you're past the signs and realize. Otw into new Mexico there's a bridge that drops right as you go over it and its so easy to miss if you're focused on the bridge or traffic.

Oh you're such a criminal The only car on the road was the cop the ignorant cop at that Not to mention traffic law is against your constitutional rights so once the ignorant people educate themselves and get themselves smart become intelligent then they'll realize that any person that signs up to be a smart intelligent educated polite police officer instantly turns into an ignorant top the minute he starts arresting people and enforcing traffic law and other fake laws that are against your constitutional rights 😢 -side note even though you seemed distracted as soon as you noticed another car on the road you immediately took action So you weren't really distracted... (1) I myself have been VERY “pro law enforcement” I even pursued a career in law enforcement for almost 10yrs. But unfortunately, where I’m from you DON’T get hired because you’re the best man/woman for the job. Anyway (2) in the past year or so I’ve been educating myself. Both with the laws of my state and the surrounding states and watching “law enforcement” interact with INNOCENT FREE AMERICANS via the auditing community and body camera footage. Recently, I was UNLAWFULLY arrested and I have now witnessed FIRSTHAND how these TYRANTS think and believe that we’re beneath them and that they are better than us, our CIVIL RIGHTS MEAN NOTHING TO THEM!!!! Why?!? Because when they egregiously violate our rights they have ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY!!! ZERO CONSEQUENCES!!!! I was literally told by one of the “officers” (I.e. the Gestapo) when I called him out for ILLEGALLY SEARCHING MY VEHICLE he said…” I don’t give a sh!t, sue me haha” and this is because he knows that any settlement I get will be paid by THE TAXPAYERS instead of from his POCKETS AND PENSIONS like it should be!!!! On top of that, once founded that they DID VIOLATE MY RIGHTS, literally ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will happen to them. Regardless of the fact that they committed MULTIPLE FELONIES ON CAMERA!!!!! There will be NO CRIMINAL CHARGES BROUGHT AGAINST THE CRIMINALS THAT KIDNAPPED ME, held me until I paid my own ransom for my freedom, stole my property and maliciously prosecuted me. In the end, they violated my 1st amendment, my 2nd amendment and my 4th amendment Always film any interaction with “law enforcement” because you never know what type of tyrant psychopath you are dealing with. Also, in most states you are under no obligation to inform them that you are recording them, so let them think whatever they want, filming our government employees is a CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHT!!!….PERIOD!!

There is no sense in not recording and not remaining silent about things that might incriminate you. You can do all those things and still de-escalate and be cool with the cop… your comment isn’t legal advice but it also isn’t good practical advice. The cops love this advice though. Came across your short, just wanted to share some quick thoughts as an LEO:
My agency used to have a zero-tolerance policy for "super speeders," i.e., anyone going 20 mph over the limit on any state maintained highway.

I'm from California, i ride a FXR Harley, back in 2001 in August, i was on I-40 passing Holbrook AZ on my way to Grants New Mexico at around 2am,,,,, i had locked my throttle at 74mph...... i was moving right along in the slow lane, , when all of a sudden i passed a State Trooper vehicle that was on the center divide, with all his lights off.....
He then began to give chase (i guess you can call it that ). he entered the highway behind me, with lights/siren on but he was in the fast lane.... i didn't really think it was for me, i figured he was called to an emergency, i began to approach 2 semi-trucks ahead of me, so i unlocked my throttle, began slowing down, one of the semi-truck switched lanes from the slow lane to the fast lane, i thought it was weird that he was passing the other truck, at the same time that the trooper had been gaining on us on the fast lane.... i thought to myself = "THIS TRUCKER IS CRAZY, HES BLOCKING THE TROOPER,, HE'S GOING TO BE IN TROUBLE FOR INTERFEERING WITH POLICE BUSINESS...."
THEN ----
i started slowing down because i was gaining on the semi-truck ahead,, ( I'm used to in California, you move out of the way, highway Patrol will fly by you to get to his emergency....)
As we came to a stop, i maintained my lane position, thinking the emergency is in front of the Truck ,, not realizing i was about to be shocked.!!!!!
i realized we ALL slowed down to a crawl.......... the truckers were blocking the road, TO STOP ME.... and i wasn't even running... trooper was in the fast lane , i was in slow lane
The Trooper turned his siren off, and over his PA system, he instructed me to pull to the shoulder, and throw my keys on the ground...
(sorry, its a long comment, but it brought back flashbacks when i saw this video.. it's probably the same trooper,, almost ready to retire,, but still at it.....)
Stay safe out there..! BIKERS BEWARE.....!!!!
The LAST thing you should do is stop recording. I've seen situations go from 0-100 once a cop believes he/she is no longer being recorded.
It's kind of douchy to not record every interaction you have with your government!
Sure.
@@GearsGadgets Don't you wish you would have?
@@bobjohnson1389 not even for a second. If I kept recording and that was the final straw for an already annoyed officer I would have been screwed. Who knows that officer of could have lost a loved one on that hwy. He was way cool cutting you some slack. All cops aren't hateful.
Don't ever stop recording!!! Never Ever! TBH you had zero idea how this could of turned out. But it's you camera, your choice. Just saying. 😮
That officer's body cam got the whole stop, unredacted. And it's public record, which means anyone can request a copy.
Totally not true in many states like NC you need a court order to get bodycams
The crazy thing is that as far as i can tell the cop following you is the reason you missed the single road sign warning you about speed change.
That is correct, I missed the 35 MPH zone change because he turned around on me (almost looked like he was going to hit me), then spun around and got on my tail so I was paying more attention to that than signs at that moment.
@@LethalLuggage however, he was going 65 in a 45 (20over) then slowed down to 55 in a 35 (20 over). So it seems to. It make a difference.

If you are not thrashing through traffic and actually being dangerous or driving in a manner that could cause loss of control rapidly it should not be a criminal act.
i agree with you,, please read my long comment above, if you have a minute.... my story of what happened to me.

This cop is why people don't pull over
Two things any aspect of your rights can’t be used to bring a crime against you.
So above all your freedom of speech your right to keep your government accountable in the operations of their duties is something that all soldiers gave and sacrificed for us all. Do you understand there are
Rights even for the criminal who’s charged?
I’m sure you may feel a mouthy citizen deserves a worse outcome then one using politeness! A cop crosses the line when he tells us shut up or shut your mouth or if you don’t shut up I’m arresting you! All illegal
The Supreme Court case that directly addresses the issue of profanity directed at law enforcement is Cohen v.
That city needs to change that dramatic change of speed sign
i agree with you,, please read my long comment above, if you have a minute.... my story of what happened to me.
The city won’t change that speed limit, it’s done by design. It’s the perfect place to write tickets. Tickets are a big revenue generator.
The cop did't say u r under arrest. He said, "you're going to jail."

If you are susceptible to being swayed by people who have 3rd grade playground bully arguments, then sure. If you value your freedom and understand that the constitution doesn't prevent you from being arrested then maybe you can use your 1st amendment right to free speech to talk your way out of trouble.
How much does the law enforcement industry pay you to encourage people to NOT record them?
NEVER NEVER ever turn your camera off... Douchy to film the cops? Bro if you only knew The happenings behind the Blue line.
Intent, you didn't intend to be criminally speeding
He said he doesn’t like to use cops for content and that’s 100% fair. But keep the camera rolling for your own protection and store it for personal use
Being a safety officer, he should recommend the local govt to post more signs or raised ridges on the road before each speed limit sign, for the sake of SAFETY
It's not douchey keep your cameras rolling during a police interaction police have been trained to write their report in a way that suits their narrative and not what actually happened
The cop was trying to escalate the situation and incite crime, which is ironic since their job is to prevent crimes.
This video was handled in a very mature and respectful way 👍🏽
It’s not douchy to record your interaction with law enforcement. You don’t have to post it but they are recording. They record because video evidence convicts.
Crazy because any freeway has people going 20-30 over all over..
Dude always record the cops what is wrong with you?
Never stop filming the police. It protects you and protects the public.

@Paul.Breaux they have radar in the car that can do that. Not sure how it works but it does. Some of them even have it front and back. If you come up behind them fast and slow down they can actually get your speed
With a FIRST AMENDMENT FREEDOM OF SPEECH it is impossible to “talk yourself into handcuffs” UNLESS you say something to incriminate yourself 🤷🏻♂️
It’s a fork in the road and from the sounds of it, you might want to look more into the silent option.
“Panic braking isnt playing it cool”
Is not a smart mentality.
I just drop 2 gears lol
So just dont lie and say “i was speeding”
A traffic infraction is still an infraction, its upnto their discretion whether to enforce it or not.
Yeah not uncommon, it got me lol
Why would you stop recording when you notice he is having "none of it" Thats when you need it the most.
@@danielhoward8354 because you can chose to be a passenger in your life and keep recording whatever is about to happen to you, or when the going gets tough, the tough get going and realizes there is an opportunity to take control and communicate you’re way through a difficult situation which is exactly what I did.
Oh you're such a criminal The only car on the road was the cop the ignorant cop at that Not to mention traffic law is against your constitutional rights so once the ignorant people educate themselves and get themselves smart become intelligent then they'll realize that any person that signs up to be a smart intelligent educated polite police officer instantly turns into an ignorant top the minute he starts arresting people and enforcing traffic law and other fake laws that are against your constitutional rights 😢
-side note even though you seemed distracted as soon as you noticed another car on the road you immediately took action So you weren't really distracted... That's why if ignorant people allow traffic law to exist against them they should make it to where an ignorant cop should have to follow you for a minimum of a half a mile to see if you are a distracted driver and your hazard on the road doing the speed that you were doing is not being a hazard on that road when you were in control of your vehicle
Speed limit on Waze showed 45 when the cop turns around, and 35 when the rider pulls over.
1:16 in and I’m subbing. Love the editing hahaha
Back in the 80's 90's it was more about the spirit of the law where I live,,, nowadays there are a lot of motorcycle cops that are gunghoe making a name for themselves kina guys and thats great and all ya should be good at any job you do but it is literally not safe to ride around the most populated areas anymore,, they are looking for any opportunity they can find to collect money from us and there isnt any circumstance that matters to them or the judge.. I had a clean record for years before covid and since covid, I've gotten 6 tickets, two were lagit me screwing up, a speeding and a seatbelt, the rest were completely ridiculous. I've talked to a few officers that dont specialize in traffic, i.e. gang task gorce, detective types and they've all said "there are no quotas but when the city planners say "we need money" a lot of people get i.e. screwed.. A few months ago I moved to a small town 20 min south and I'll never drive through Fresno again. I go the long way around everything no matter what...
Y’know I’m so glad cops leave me alone. This is the very type of officer that would cause me to lose my job because of me and my big fat mouth.
Glad you didn't get the full ticket - and trying to defuse the situation was IMO the smart play. Worked out alright. I wonder if he thought you were a 1%er or something?
@@RoadReality I promise he didn’t think he was a 1%er.
I don't know what he thought but I don't think he mistook me for a badass.
@@GearsGadgets Well then, small-town cop syndrome. We see that here. Some places you don't want to risk going 1mph over the limit.
I wish the law would act that tough when it comes to border crossing illegally
Certainly some areas we could focus some more attention on for sure.
(1) I myself have been VERY “pro law enforcement” I even pursued a career in law enforcement for almost 10yrs. But unfortunately, where I’m from you DON’T get hired because you’re the best man/woman for the job. Anyway
(2) in the past year or so I’ve been educating myself. In the end, they violated my 1st amendment, my 2nd amendment and my 4th amendment
Always film any interaction with “law enforcement” because you never know what type of tyrant psychopath you are dealing with. Also, in most states you are under no obligation to inform them that you are recording them, so let them think whatever they want, filming our government employees is a CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHT!!!….PERIOD!!
