Optional Boss Battle Fight Zack. In order to aqcuire Cloud's ultimate weapon and final limit, Cloud needs to kill him.
He is tough if you're unprepared. His physical attacks are very powerful. If you cast barrier/wall he may counter with Bahamut which acts as a debarrier. He is susceptible to poison, so the best thing to do is stay sad in the back and wait :P.
Playing an awesome mod called New Thread Mod created by Sega Chief! I am playing the steam version of FFVII. I'll mainly post footage of the bosses.

Features of the Mod by Sega Chief:
-) New bosses and enemies, as well as new AI and attacks for old enemies and bosses.
-) Option to change party leader on Disc 3 and re-fight Disc 2 bosses, all accessed from the Highwind. Some quick mini-scenarios were added to unlock each character's Lv.4 Limit and Ultimate Weapon.
-) More save points, merchants, restore points, and other conveniences such as skips for lengthy flashback scenes. Kalm Flashback begone!
-) Field music is used for regular battles with no fanfare (only used for bosses); if you're not a fan of this feature and want the battle theme + victory fanfare to play for regular fights then a field patch for regular music will be available later today.
-) More balanced weapons, items, and spells making magic more useful. Gameplay is also faster with enemies giving 2x Exp, Gil, and AP. Battles were also specced with a front row party in mind, so no need to hide in the back with Sadness on.

The beginning part isn't really IC in my opinion, but the rest of the fight is really cool. To me a fight with Zack makes some sense. It doesn't even have to be the real Zack, because he's dead so a fight with him is impossible. Just having Cloud fight a manifestation of Zack within his mind to symbolize him braking away from the Zack-like persona and finding one of his own is good enough for me.
Victoria 92179... square enix use this idea and run with it! Great idea, like what happened against Sephiroth.
The Earls Renegade Well they are planning on changing the storyline to some extent. There is even talk of more than 1 character dying so anything is possible.
craig mccauley well it can't be more than 1 of the main characters dying because of Advent children.
This mod reminded me of Jessie mod from Heaven. Where you can use it at the beginning of the game. A mod so simple and that renews energies to return to play the game

Having a boss battle against Zack would be the saddest yet coolest thing ever imo.
Why would you give Zack the Ultima Blade? The only sword he should have is the Buster Sword.
Would be nice if they gave you a better buster sword, maybe with the same stats as ultima. that'd be dope. the buster sword was always my favorite of all clouds swords
I think your reading into too much. Its just a mod and a different way to get your ultimate weapon and limit break and it adds a bit more of a challenge to it.
Or maybe the stupid buster sword with the gold hilt

This would have been very cool to have in the original game. As it fits within the theme of identity and finding your own way. Have cloud face zack as a way for cloud to A. Be at peace with what happened to zack and B. Sever ties with the broken psyche that lead him to think zack's life was his own.

Damn! that was sweet. I like the fact that Zack's moves all come from limit breaks. Aerith's healing wind.....Nice touch. I just downloaded this mod and So far I must say its 10 out of 10. Good job Sega Chief!!!!!!!! All it needs now is a WEAPON BOSS RUSH, where you have to fight WEAPON-after-WEAPON.

Cool mod. I remember some stupid urban legend in a gaming magazine years ago that said if you had the masamune item from the gold saucer you could find Zack as a playable character in the north cave. Honestly who wrote that...

I know this is a mod but the guy who made this mod should've let Zack use his iconic sword, Buster Sword instead of Ultimate Weapon. and after Cloud beat him, Zack will give Ultimate Weapon to Cloud.
Now I can't help but imagine Cloud swinging his sword at nothing. Cause Zack is already dead.

Zack should be like a silent manifestation of clouds butchered persona and memories and after the battle cloud remembers zack and gets the ultima with zack telling cloud while disintegrating:

Okay I personally think it's comedy gold how cloud and Zack talk about how the Buster sword the weakest weapon
I really wish that they put more effort into the character interaction there. I liked the "Long time, no see!" aspect of it, but it quickly glossing over the introduction to the fight with, "Beat me and Ill give you this weapon and skill!" wasn't nearly as good.
That said I absolutely LOVE the fight itself!
My strat for this was just equipping quadra magic + demi3 and spamming it the whole fight while keeping up healing and big guard so he reflects laser on himself. I also used dispel on him when he uses courage boost, so he doesn't absorb gravity attacks. I thought absorbing hidden elemental would keep me safe from Bahamut, but it didn't work. It did absorb one of his other attacks however. After like 10 demi3s, he's pretty much done for.

You know the creator of the mod did a good job with zack some of his attacks are his dmw limit breaks.
and his 4-hit normal attack from crisis core. The pauses in between the attack are the same when mash the "X" button on normal attack in crisis core
The beginning should had been darker and sad, Zack rising up from the dead and tells Cloud to fight him to truly break free from his desired warped personality and he holds no ill will for Aerith's death.
Considering the fact that in crisi core zack has all the summons this makes sense

+Merco Sage yes they were together in crisis core, Zack fought the entire army of Shinra and lasted a good amount of time but ended up ultimately dying before dying he handed over the buster sword to cloud hence why Cloud has it to begin with, Zack's death traumatized Cloud hence why you see him at times in FF7 and why he has the same attitude than Zack does.
But yeah, he's dead, which is unfortunate, Zack was an AMAZING character :c

I hope the remake ff7 add this idea to make this more interesting. Zack should use his buster sword and after the fight, give Cloud a stronger version of the buster sword with special added effects and improve status.

They way i see it, cloud is imagining Zack. And what really happening is that the ultima blade is just lying there on the cliff. So could is imagining zack with the sword he sees on the cliff. And once cloud fully realises that zack is dead and never coming back. He stops imagining Zack. And takes the sword that was left there. I personally perfer if it aas this way in the main game

@@MrHakubi And also, pretty solid Top VGM playlist. Love that you had Skeith from .hack on there, completely forgot about that theme and it's such a good one. Not sure if you've played SaGa Frontier or Legend of Mana, check out the theme for T260's Final Boss from SaGa, and Irwin on Reflection, Pain the Universe and The Darkness Nova from Legend of Mana if you have not already. Both soundtracks are completely on point, as well as SaGa Frontier 2. Square had amazing tracks during the PSX days.

Mr. Deranged Well you can still see the cutscene, but if you reach the end of north cave, the cut scene won't be available any more

hey im very confused.....my version of this doesnt look at all the same but it says version 1.4. i fight zack, but he's not as brutal, carries the buster sword....and i didn't get omnislash at the end. also i didnt get to walk up to him. it's just the scene where zack dies, then i crawl to him and fight him there.
