I tried for 3 hours to get that thing off then I hit youtube and saw this video. Went out and tried it and after about 10 minutes of wacking the hitch it started to crack free. Another 15-20 minutes of crowbar and wedges it came off. Thank you. Now off to the other side.
@@goproguy7844 what size tow hitch did you use does it make a difference at all mine is stuck pretty good I sprayed it and pounded it with a hammer ⚒️ no luck yet
daaaaamn. you just gave me the solution I guess... my boat trailer bearing is stuck with the cilinder... and i spent 2 nights trying to remove it... i just gonna go back in garage. i have several of those hitch and gonna try your way... thanks
Good luck stonefreer1. Worked for me TWICE now on this same Acadia that I did the video on. You can try the hardened bolt trick too. Draw bar is the simplest though - and doesn’t cost a thing if you’ve got one. Happy hammering!
Apparently hit it where the draw bar metal was mushed over. Force wasn't in direct line with removal direction but must loosen rust hold and sort of pry off. Probably need to reinstall drawbar in a star pattern to gradually loosen and work off. After a few belts with a sledgehammer to break rust grip, slide hammer might work well.
Most people might have some music in a how to video an intro or the 1st 5 seconds, you have the music through out. I don't want to be the director, I know your the "content creator", but humble suggestion, if you you wanna play your heavy metal tunes in a how to video, at least mix it where the vocal instructions is louder than the actual music, not the other way.
If you got the time Soak with penetration oil pb blaster 30 min then hit it with some heat knock out a stud use the bolt method to give it some lea way then use hitch off she comes right off
I don't get how he's hitting the hitch to cause this to break the bearing lose. Right on the nose inward? Downward strike? Neither makes sense to me. Is it supposed to be pry-force with a flat on nose strike?
Ogtriple Og - Have you tried removing a stud (they usually snap if you bend one back & forth - or you can cut off with a dremel and hammer it out the back), then the bolt trick.... take a hardened bolt (about 2” long) as wide as the stud hole (about 1/4” wide), insert into the stud hole. Slide a stack of washers (or one nut and a washer) onto the inner side of the bolt, followed by one nut. Then twist the bolt head so that the other end begins to push against the bearing knuckle (housing). Rotate the bearing so that you are able to push out from multiple places. Big key is to use a high-quality bolt, or you will just end up stripping the bolt or bending it. Not as easy or fast as the drawbar trick, but it works too. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply i appreciate it I was able to get to come off after i put an old brake rotor on backwards and hiting it with a sledge hammer has hard as i could for a good hour or so But this video definitely helped
If that didn't work - try this bolt trick too! studio.ruclips.net/user/video7Yk2p5_CxqE/comments/inbox?filter=%5B%7B%22name%22%3A%22ENGAGED_STATUS%22%2C%22value%22%3A%22COMMENT_CATEGORY_NOT_ENGAGED%22%7D%5D
You have to get the brakes off first. Rear disc brakes on Acadia have the e-brake drum inside the rotor! So you need to pop off the dust cap and turn the star wheel to retract the drum e-brake in order to remove the rear rotor (which also has a small drum). Many GM rear brakes require the twist-in tool to compress the calipers when you put on new shoes/pads (AFTER you get the brakes off). I haven’t had issues getting mine off though. I’ve been able to compress the calipers a little with a c-clamp - enough to wiggle the calipers off. The majority of the compression is done with the twist-in tool.
You can try that. Just make sure you have a jack stand or 2 in place so it doesn’t drop to the floor. I tried that too - but still didn’t work. Depends how seized each situation is. Good luck - hope yours comes off easily.
HAHA, Git-r-done! sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. By the looks of the drawbar after being used for this, I think would opt to borrow my neighbors draw bar and not use mine.
Wheel hub easy my wheel bearing exploded. Life of a street racer. I got part of the bearing stuck on the hub as the rest literally came out it is the middle piece the balls spin go in their circle around
i got a hammer and hit it from behind rotating it when i see it coming out so it will pop off evenly using a ball peen hammer. i even tried the bolt ,nut ,washer business, nope didn't work. but the hammer did. I bet those air hammers from behind it would work nice.
Nice!! Now how do i get my rusty ball hitch out? 😂
A 6 pack sledge hammer and a whole lotta cus words 😂😂
Brian - thanks for the great idea! My wheel hub was 10 years old and totally seized together. This did the trick!
Husband states, "Hammer does not work, maul is required. Video is slightly misleading only two hits were required." Thank you so much!
Great tip. You presented the information clearly and didn’t waste time. I was disappointed that it was over so quickly. Good job!!! Thank You!
Ours isn't seized as far as turning. From what direction/ angle do you smack it from?
Your explanation is good, Thank you for that, but a demonstration or exhibition would be better appreciated by all .
Can't figure out which way or from what angle you are supposed to strike it
Everybody gangster until someone rolls up in an early 2000's Silverado with a bad front wheel hub...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Exactly what I'm dealing with now
Idk right...

Peace right on for the video. Still took me 1 hour to get my right passenger hub bearing off. Thank you sir for sharing
In which direction are you hitting it?
Down.. hitting down to break the frozen seal and get it moving.
@@krakenwoodfloorservicemcma5975 Hitting it down from what you are showing ......why wouldn't the hub just spin like it's suppose to do?

This guy looks friendly but you know he dont f# about!
He gets the job done!
Yea good luck. How about when stuck on axle
great idea!
Good! BUT... U could've shown where u strike it.

You don't show where you hit it to get the leverage to get the hub off!

Cool I turned my rotor around backwards and beat the shit out of it it worked to at that point I didn't really care about the rotors anymore lol

Very good! "Thanks

dude! thanks
Appreciate it but I was struggling to listen over the music
Music is way too loud.
Not a wheel bearing that's a hub
Just put the rotor on backwards
Im rarely impressed but good video man i almost paid 250 for the hub hammer thing on ebay..
So if you rotate the whole think it will become loose. Mmmmmm. Nice

F that press it out didn't get the shop press to sit there n look pretty
You hit it with a hammer till it comes off

Doesn't work.
15 mins of beating? No good my friend! Instead use Lisle 38210
You can call it a wheel hub or you can call it a bearing
That’s a wheel hub not a bearing
Most modern cars (2011-onwards) use a bearing/hub combo. While he’s working with the hub, it’s all one piece
Christ! Is that so important.
Not on a Subaru, it wouldn't come out that easy!
