My maid has been with us for 20 years. She has seen me grow up, and she still orders me around like she did when I was little. She has been through a lot, from her house burning down, to getting her kids married, getting a new house and opening her first bank account. My parents have been with her through everything, helped her in every step of the way. My aunt represented her in court pro bono. Her husband is going through cancer, and we all are helping her through it. Indian families don't see maids are "service people". They are family.

Don't generalize. It's very common to see this behaviour in India. Not what the kid did per se, but treating them as "service people" and not bonding. It's very very common. Especially in Delhi.

@@himelsarkar5892 Don't know where but..... mightbe. From Mumbai till South in Kerala, I have (generally among those 50 - 60 odd households I have been to) only seen the maids having an upper hand. In Mumbai they are professional (general) while in South they literally want you to adjust to everything they say.... and people do !
I mean not normal schedule related at all...... It is like : " Can you give me my salary everyday ? I need 5000 today.... mightbe 2000 tomm..."
In Kerala it is the situation due to the conglomeration of free funds distributed by the Communists to win elections, so they can keep spoiling people without any work to sit and earn while the local households having old people are severely disadvantaged by this policy as maids *show their upper hand. Also these families are spoiled by American expats who pay huge sums, literally huge in lakhs and millions to make them look after their family. My parents experienced that and initially being very nice, they were taken advantage of as anyone who came to work asked money every single day.
In Bangalore things can go anyway unless it is someone known to you or has been helping your family over years. Else, issue is with foreign expats again ruining the day.

Guys don't believe everything shown in ads😂 we call anyone we meet even in the streets as bhaiya(brother),chacha(uncle),maaji(mother) as u saw the boy called the woman selling lamps, mother similarly we also treat our house help as a part of family

    • @TheB657
      @TheB657 3 года назад +2

True. Culture is portrayed very differently in ads. That is why many of whom I know from my village, myself all educated lawyers, engineers, doctors, chemists etc. have stopped watching TV..... the set's there but more time is spent amongst ourselves as we used to. In Mumbai, maids were not even called so. They were always "belonged" to the family where they came to work and my Gradndparents and parents and literally "everyone else" in the societies and colonies used to say : "We help them that's all, they are financially a bit challenged"......... That's how the relationship goes.
Ads ..... I don't know what the popular media is trying to portray ? Indians with a **pseudo-American/western culture ??
Literally people get afraid watching colleges shown by Bollywood. Those are exaggerated. In normal Universities you will find decent people everywhere. The popular media's a big negative influence on our sanskriti.

But what is wrong in keeping seperate utensils for maids, in my house we've been keeping seperate utensils for our maids who has been there from before i was born but we are in no way rude or show ourselves superior to her i guess it was mainly because my family is vegetarian and where we live people consume beef pork etc I eat chicken, mutton sometimes but for that i too I have seperate utensils for myself and i have to clean them myself we have seperate utensils for guests too. Having seperate utensils doesn't mean anything unless you're being rude or things like they can only sit on the floor or not on same furniture etc that is definitely not good.

Having seperate utensils cannot be seen as a way of mistreating according to me, main thing is if they are being treated as lower class or something that is a problem because my family is vegetarian, we offer different set of utensils for each of our maids and even when i bring non veg at home sometimes i have to use seperate utensils kept for me and also clean them myself
Eating in same utensils cannot imply we treat them very well its just like when somebody comes close to you and you pull up your mask, that does not mean someone is dirty or something we're just keeping it safe for both of us
We have seperate utensils for guests too and yes irrespective of his caste or anything 😂

Great moving heartwarming ads and a very small percentage of folks who come help us at home or around the house are treated badly because first of all they are mostly fierce fiesty people who know their worth (not to say that there are no bad people illtreating help but that's a whole other set of mindsets n people) 🙏😀❤️🌹Happy Diwali Everyone 🌹💖God bless 🙏

The last one looks like a Malaysian Ad. I love the accent of Malaysian Indians. I also find it very inspiring that an Islamic Country allows such an ad an that there is some corporation, probably owned by an Indian Malaysian that asked these questions on a public forum. My salutations to the bold Indian Malaysians and even more to the Islamic Republic of Malaysia. I would love to see how many of you read this comment and leave a thumbs up or a reaction. I don’t expect Rick or Korbin to read. They never do. But don’t disappoint me Stupid Babies!!!

Wow! So many people saying they treat their maids like family! Really? I have NEVER EVER seen a maid(most people still refer to them as their servants) sitting on a sofa or a chair next to them. They always stand while the whole family sits!! The discrimination is so ingrained that unless you live abroad in the West you do not realize this! Have you guys ever seen a maid asked to sit on the dining table next to the family and share a meal even if they have worked for the family for 20 years. They always eat sitting on the kitchen floor after the family is done! Whenever I have questioned this the response is either silence or the explanation that if we give them too much leeway they will take us for granted!!! This discrimination is done by not only people in remote villages. It is done by everyone including so called modern educated urban families. Rick n Korbin will be horrified if they ever visit a home in India!!!

Agreed. I'm glad so many people in these comments seem to treat their house help well, but if you ever talk to any house help, they can tell you absolute horror stories about how they have been ill-treated, looked down upon, blackmailed, given the most ridiculously difficult instructions, and definitely not allowed to sit at the dining table or on the sofa, or eat in the same plates as the family. And they have to deal with stereotypes of them being difficult, lazy, demanding, aggressive, all while having no job security or anywhere to complain when they are ill-treated. I grew up in Mumbai and can say with certainty this happens a LOT. The fact that people have to so vehemently defend their treatment of their house help in itself tells us something.

The way the house help was treated in the ad, if someone does something like that in real life, expect an explosion of anger and flying chappals at you. Moms don't take insult by anyone towards house helps easily. They are the first one's to teach us to respect and thank people working for us.

Beautiful ads! As always Indian ads are just amazing at capturing the emotion of a festival. Great subbing. As for the ad about the house help. It is becoming less of a norm now and more of a stand out where people treat their maids like this. Its definitely not to do with caste system but class system (money, power and social standing). People who still practice caste system where they discriminate on the basis of it would not employ a maid in the first place! This is not to say it does not happen, but people disrespecting others based on class system happens all over the world, but it shouldn't be acceptable in any way or form!

Our house help was 3year younger than my mother so we call her "maaji" and she saw us, both the siblings grow up, she used to scold us more than our parents does.... Oh bhai till now when we visit her house she still scold us for being horribly naughty kids 😀😀😁 these kind of bad things I've only seen in pictures and tv shows where house help treated badly. 😀😀

As Malaysian Indian (Hindus). We are all treated as we don't belong in Malaysia. No one can answer those questions asked by the boy. The Indian Hindus are oppressed in Malaysia. I cannot answer my kids sometimes... Its sad.

Wow, I am glad to learn from the comments that so many Indians treat their maids well. But that makes me wonder why so many domestic workers were forced to walk back to their hometowns when the covid-19 lockdown began. So many of them said that their employers had not just asked them to stop coming, but also stopped paying their salaries. Maybe the people who are saying that they treat their maids well are exceptions?
Or maybe Indians speak nicely to their maids but don't really care about them?
Sorry about the unpleasant questions. I was hesitant about asking them, but then I saw that beautiful ad about lighting a diya with a question.

The maids spoken about here are those who work in a family. Since it is only one person we can care for the maid and include as our family member. The domestic workers mentioned are people who work in shop or construction sites, etc. These people were sent not because their owners were rude. It was because due to this pandemic the owners might have lost revenue and might be in no condition for an income for themselves. So they would have no other option other than to send them as they cannot afford for their food and stay.

@@mrithullapadmanabhan Actually, I am referring to maids who work in families. They had to go away because of the lockdown too. Here is a video by BB Ki Vines, where the first couple to be interviewed is a maid who works part-time in families and her husband. ruclips.net/video/mOLlhfxGhVk/видео.html&t
