Hi Cathy, give you a little secret. I bought the frozen ones from Walmart. Total cooking time in my air fryer nine minutes. I took them out at five minutes and I poked holes with a toothpick about five times in each one then I put it in the butter sauce it cooked it for another 4 minutes. Fantastic. By the way I’m a major love bread person too. My favorite, sourdough bread, the breadsticks at Olive Garden. 😘
I’m recently quite new to the biscuit game. Biscuits are actually what we call cookies where I’m from so it’s always confusing/funny when I hear people call biscuits what we would call actually scones 😂but recently I tried them (I made them from scratch because we don’t have frozen or readily available biscuits in NZ) because I was curious to see how different they are to a scone and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them! I had to stop myself from scoffing the whole lot down once they had come out of the oven because I ate one hot and fresh with butter and they were delicious. They remind very similarly to a scone but a lot less crumbly. One of my favourite carb related items is a toasted cheese scone with butter on it and these biscuits your reviewed look very similar to the cheese scones we have here. Favourite bread 🤔 I really like a good cheesy garlic bread if it’s available as a starter at a restaurant 😋 thank you for another great review Cathy 🙂
Just get a box of Bisquick, mix it like the biscuit recipe on the box (add garlic salt to the mix if you want more of a garlic salt flavor), then add shredded cheddar cheese and brush with garlic butter (just butter with garlic salt). I haven't compared them side by side, but they are still really really good! 😁 So good and easy to make!
Making them from scratch would obviously give the best taste, although I'm not surprised you chose the ones made from the biscuit mix. 😉 There's a place in downtown L.A. that's been in business since the 1920's called The Pantry, and they serve a fantastic toasted on the grill sourdough toast with their breakfast that's to die for. They also serve it dry with lunch and dinner, and it's equally delicious 😋 Pink is definitely your color Cat! 😁
OMG when we lived in SoCal we would hit The Pantry at all hours, and there was always a line outside! Crazy place, been around forever, never closed except once I think after an earthquake.... That was an experience and brings back good memories. Great hash browns! Giant breakfasts! Giant steaks! Way back when, they had carrot and celery sticks in the table to snack on.
@@BeckyA59 Yes, and remember the jelly jar with the spoon in it? I guess the Health Department made them go to the single serving jelly packs that taste terrible...
I am so glad we don't have a Dead Lobster nearby! I had no idea you could order a box of biscuits! I would be there all the time! Glad to know the biscuit mix is better than the frozen. FYI you can also use 1/2 the boxed mix (and 1/2 the seasoning packet) to make sausage balls....deelicious!
Finally found them? They've been at our Wallyworlds for years. They also have different kinds, too, like a rosemary biscuit. Thanks for wearing my favorite color on you, too. :)
Cathy I use the Box Mix to make mine and double the Cheddar Cheese that it calls for and they turn out Great! Good Review and I may just try the frozen ones to see what I think? I'm thinking cook them maybe 20 to 25 Degrees lower than what the directions say and check and see if they cook more fluffy and less dense? Thanks for the review this is one of my Favs you have done!!
I just bought cheddar, chive and garlic frozen biscuits from Aldi..Mama Cozzi's haven't tried them yet and I've never had Red Lobster ones. Thanks for the review Cathy
With the mix I add a lot more cheese and garlic seasoning than it calls for. The last time I made them I added 2 cups of sharp cheddar. Amazon sells a garlic seasoning in bulk that taste identical to the seasoning in the mix.
I too LOVE Red Lobsters Biscuits. We dont go often as we dont have one very near us. Last few times Ive had them they werent as good. It seems like they dont put as much melted butter and garlic on them as they used to. They seemed dry. I do buy the boxed mix and I think they are really good. Of course I add a little extra cheese and melty butter.
Funny you had this video today, this is what I had for dinner. I like to dunk them in ranch. No you don’t need more garlic salt in it you just need to mix it up better and getting it out with the spoon you are leaving behind the garlic in the bottom of the bowl, you have to use the brush and make sure your butter is hot enough to dissolve the powder and stir each time with the brush before you apply the butter to each biscuit.
Hi, How are you doing today? I am doing pretty good myself. Question of the day: What is my favorite bread at a restaurant? I love cheesy bread sticks from pizza hut. I hope that you will take care until next time!
I’ve been buying the Red Lobster box mix for a couple years. I really love them, and they are super easy to make. Texas Roadhouse and Red Lobster have my favorite restaurant breads. I always eat too many. 🤭
I’ve tried some of the copycat recipes you can find on here and I think they are as good or better than restaurant version. They taste fresher and less processed. Super easy.
I love red lobster’s biscuits. I’ll have to give the mix version a try. Mine is Texas Roadhouse buns to. Very addicting pillowy goodness. I love bread. I’m a bread man. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I may have missed it but where did you get the store bought ones? Were they in the refrigerator section or on the regular shelf? Thanks Also. Who the heck is gonna eat all those made biscuits?
The fresh out of the oven ones at the restaurant are pretty hard to beat. I actually had the Aldi ones the other day and I agree that the freezing jacks them up and makes them more dense. I can only assume that the frozen Red Lobster ones are about the same. As far as the mix goes, I actually used it to make sausage balls over the holidays and it was pretty damn good. Also, I lost count of how many times you struggled with the empty box ;-)
Cook frozen biscuits halfway, take them out the oven, poke holes in them, spread butter on top, finish baking..... it may help the dough to fat ratio and lessen the density.
Back in the day I worked part-time as a Hostess at RL..usually worked the week-end shifts (busiest time of course) and many a nite these biscuits were my dinner..still love them but don't eat at RL as often anymore since their prices are way tooooooooo expensive & quantities are smaller...however I do stop by often & get a dozen biscuits 'to go'..also they used to do what is called a "Bakers Dozen=13 biscuits) & of course now you only get 12 ;)
I have a great recipe for these so I never have to crave them! Red Lobster is so far away.... What the heck are you going to do with all those biscuits!
I found that any biscuit in frozen form is just not good, they are heavier, probably due to being frozen and moisture content. I wish they would put the RL biscuits in a canned form, that might be worth trying!
Its been years since I’ve been to Red Lobster and only had been there a few times anyway, don’t think I ever had the biscuit tho. But sounds like using the mix is best if u can’t have the real thing or its too much trouble but sounds like u got a bad batch at restaurant too.
@@2centchick Get the fried chicken! My favorite!! Also, make sure your really hungry before you go and wear stretchy pants. LoL! I met Paula while I was there. She is so very sweet!!
I think they are over rated, but then again them biscuits may be what is keeping Red Lobster 🦞 doors open. I like a nice warm loaf of sourdough bread with whipped butter.
Far as my favorite restaurant bread, I gotta give a shout out to the olive garden breadsticks Respect to the texas roadhouse rolls for being fresh and hot
Good video and comparison. I know I'm deeply in the minority here, but I don't understand why people are so crazy about the cheddar bay biscuits. The way people talked about them made me think I was in for some amazing treat, to me they're just average.
I've never been a big bread eater and as I get older, I'm finding I'm liking bread even less. I don't do chips or appetizers at all before a meal. I'll just sit here patiently sipping my drink waiting for my salad and main course, thanks. 😊
They are good but overrated… I wouldn’t drive all the way to the restaurant for them.., the last few times I got them from there they were really dense and greasy… I love bread too! A family run restaurant near me bakes fresh bread to serve with dinner… it varies as to what kind… all are delicious! Another local place brings out cinnamon rolls (bigger than Cinnabon!) one per customer until they run out (which is usually before 7 pm) 😋😋😋

Some restaurants are just good for their bread the only thing I like at red lobster are these I think red lobster as a whole is overrated expensive to And then I have this weird thing where the only thing I like at KFC is there biscuits 🤣
Well you bought a lot of biscuits and I'm sure you ate them all which is just fine because that's what people do so dont act like you didnt eat them all because every one watching knows you did😏
A few people told me that when you are making the boxed mix, double the cheese & replace the water with either milk or buttermilk.

I love olive garden breadsticks. Dipping them in their dressing is so good.

I have tried a few different ones that use biscuit mix.
My mouth is watering! Love those biscuits glad you did the review!
Does your Aldi have the dry mix too? Its good and airy but I always put more cheese than called for and I'll put more garlic on top
I don’t remember ever seen it. I’ll have to look next time I’m there. Thanks!

I made the box ones earlier for dinner. They came out perfect. And they taste so delicious
Love Red Lobster biscuits. I like the brown bread at Cheesecake Factory and Outback Steakhouse but most warm bread and butter will make me happy.
Me too!!!’ I’ve bought the Cheesecake Factory bread at grocery store too!
@@emilybilbow4990 is that good? Always wanted to try it…thanks
Cathy, I guess this a request for another show. How hard would it be to dress up some Pillsbury frozen biscuits as a suitable substitute?

Frozen biscuits aren't quite right no matter the kind.
@@misterhat5823 Agreed.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
I don't know what kind of cheddar you used,. But if you used mild, sharp or extra sharp might have worked better. I always cook with extra sharp.

I'm currently overseas and I'm dying to taste the Red Lobster biscuits again as soon as I move back.
You should try a copycat recipe for them.
