- Join Shawn and the team as we head to Alton Towers for the parks 2016 opening day. Along with checking out the many changes across the park for the new season, we also ride The Smiler for the first time since June 2015. We also ride all of our Alton Towers favourites including Nemesis, Thirteen, Congo River Rapids and much more, in one of our most action packed vlogs to date!

"Corrected" needs to be brought back to the smiler, it's not the same plus refurbishment wouldn't be a bad idea for it, (MERLIN)

The reason I think they removed it is because of the accident and getting corrected could relate to getting amputated

Am I the only one who finds it kind of amusing that they removed the "correction" part, after what happened in June? With the whole having to have legs amputated and stuff.

I’ve been on the smiler twice and I was rly scared both times but loved it and going on again! I still get butterflies in my stomach even when you were just filming the queue

The smiler is the best ride in the UK for me (have been to all theme parks apart from Thorpe park)
You should visit Thorpe Park 100% it's great fun, you would have the absolute time of your life :)
the smiler is good but it is a little rough for me the new padding on the restraints make it 10x better
Re-Watching this vlog because I'm going back to Alton Towers in April and I have to say that this is still one of the best vlogs on this channel for me.
Their are so many people on that day that I know from other vlogs and as Smiler is one of my favourite coasters seeing everyone happy to ride it makes me happy :)

Wow, The correction parts been removed because of the Crash, just found out... Half way corrected (Half way = Amputated).

What was this "corrected" part they removed?
At the start 'Time to get corrected', Half way on the walls it said Half way corrected and a voice said 'Half way Corrected' now it's a just a long Laugh!
Some of all this parts on the smiler where it says 'Correction' 'Corrected' are now gone. They could bring it back.
Been checking my feed constantly for this vlog as couldn't wait to watch it! Saw you all in the background of a few other vlogs over the last few days and was like "i know who they are!"

When I move to Birmingham in a few months time, I'm sure I'll come to Alton Towers at some point and experience the beauty that is this Park. Nemesis I've been wanting to ride for ages, and that time will arrive when I visit!

Shawn - I know you love Nemesis SO much. The problem I've always had with it is that it's far too short. It seems like 30 secs lift & then a 30 secs ride.
To me, what has always been lacking at AT is a decent-length coaster ride - like a 2.5 mins ride.
A long ride is definitely needed at the park
You mean like The Smiler? Because that's a long ride.
the smiler also holds the world record for moast loops and corkscrews (14 to be exact)

I think we need a long ride that's world class. Smiler is long but that's because of the inversions and I agree with Shawn where more inversions don't mean a better coaster. Clear evidence is Shambhala and Wickerman. But I always thought that an RMC Hybrid with no inversions but lots of airtime...and sharp turns...or even a Mack Launch without inversions and purely based on airtime and how it hugs the ground during sharp turns

Ever since i was 5 years old it was my dream to go to Alton Towers. Finally on the 15th of July 2016 I got to go!! I was ill with scarlet fever but still went with my school, unfortunately I only went on 13teen and Rita but it was still a good day. If I wasn't ill I would've gone on smiler and nemesis and that lot!!

Is it just me or can Alton Towers Add a Drop tower at the old spot of Ripsaw.......And name it like...Forbidden Drop or fall, like if you agree

I think they should just bring back Nemesis sub terra. It was underrated. I rode if seven times overall and it was a good dropper
Nemmisis was my first inverted coaster and I was kinda scared... But when I sat on it, it was my favorite ride..... But smiler I got scared by seeing it but when I sat on it it wasn't scary but still wasn't bad.....But definitely in my top 5 alton towers rides

I pray to god that SW8 isn't a wood coaster, so old fashioned and boring IMO, SW8 looks like its gonna be pirate themed by the hints Alton Towers have been giving, would like to see a new and improved Flume because Flume was such a great ride. Only time will tell keep up the great vlogs.

I 💗 Alton towers I went there when I was 11 but wasn't tall enough for the smiler I was sooo upset because I loved the theme of the smiler and it was my dream to ride it love to go back and ride all the rides 💗

Love the vlog shame when the smiler crashed but its good to see it reopen.
yeh im mad about on ride photos and ive had those annual passes and merlin passes for three years now because ive grown up with drayton manor so the intimin and maurer sohen coasters (shockwave and gforce) have made me into an enthusiast and ive got my own world of theme parks and I have accomplished over 300 rides on the smiler so theme parks are clever cause they capture you in just one visit
I always love going to Alton towers such a good resort with the rides and the theming.

Parkwide improvements are looking great here. Especially the repainted Nemesis and Galactica so far.
Shame about the closed rides and outlets, but hopefully with some TLac they'll be great again.

I've been going to Alton Towers since 1994 at the young age of 5! I miss the magic of the Tussauds days, it's really not been the same since Merlin took over and renamed it as AT Resort. (IMO)
Hopefully with the Towers Loving Care programme they can bring some of that magic back. And they really need to bring the shops back, maybe they're being renovated?
Also majorly happy to see Cadbury's is finally back on park! I used to love the shop in Cred Street!
