Indiana Fever Coach Addresses Caitlin Clark's Physical Outburst During Practice

- Caitlin Clark's competitiveness is a core reason why she's such a great basketball player.
During the ESPN+ "Full Court Press" documentary series that aired this weekend, Clark's parents allude to her competitive nature being due to her having two brothers, who she was always playing with.
Now well into adulthood, Clark has kept with that competitive streak during her time with the Indiana Fever.
During Sunday's practice, Clark took a three point shot that was supposed to mimic a game-winning buzzer beater.
Right after the shot missed, Clark turned around and whacked a padded side-wall out of frustration.
After the practice, Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides addressed Clark's outburst when speaking with the media.
"They’re all really competitive, and that’s what is gonna drive us,” Sides said of her team.
“Our competitive spirit,” Sides continued. “I mean, we wanna make sure that we’re the hardest working, most competitive team in the gym. They want to win everything, and we were working on some late-game stuff. And, I mean, [Clark] didn’t get the shot."
Sides concluded by saying, “[Clark's] gonna get those shots and she’s gonna hit ‘em. We’re gonna give her that opportunity.”
The Fever head coach clearly trusts her star player.

Caitlin is attitude SUCKS and coach is trying to teach her how to play and make it in the league. She barely cheers on her teammates on the floor and she has little tantrums very often! You're being emotional in your response, while coach is using her basketball IQ to explain to people like you, why she is doing and saying what she is doing surrounding CC! Love her, but she has ALOT to learn.
Can I just say this? The Fever coaching staff needs to evolve in the "NEW WNBA" just as well Sides is correcting her star player in the media! Never ever correct a star player (or any player) in public. You hurt the ticket sales, destroy the confidence of the players, and lose your job in the process. Cut it out! Clark is the reason for the league excitement right now. You wouldn't throttle Steph Curry. No one comes to a Fever game, to watch Coach Sides ever! Instruct and teach CC in private meetings. Don't kill your brand before you play your first game. BTW, Coach Lisa Bluder is available now if needed in Indiana. The pressure is now on the coach to win.

Good reporting. Some people don't understand the huge effort by the Fever to build the inside game, using Clark's genius + the dynamics of Boston, Smith, Mitchell, & others. Building that + Clark's 3-point brilliance, Coach Sides is pointing toward an explosive offense. Some casual fans can't see that basic thing.

Think it’s telling that one of Clark’s teammate tweeted something like “be yourself” right after Coach was saying in presser how Clark had bad habits she was going to fix. Teammate realizes that team will only be successful if Clark is allowed to be herself.
